Nebraska has a great infrastructure with a new facility opening this year for athletics. Nebraska has spent millions on its infrastructure supporting football and other sports. What was lacking in recent years was a coach who could take advantage of the overall program and make it work for success on the field. The amount Nebraska is paying Rhule over 8 years would make it very difficult for another school to try to get him to "springboard"
A little bit better resources than Baylor and temple?? Uhh Nebraskas resources are probably more than Baylor and Temple combined. One of the top revenue programs in the country even when struggling. And the new facility when it's done will be one of if not the best in the country. And fan support is 2nd to none.
Rhule is a great hire for Nebraska. They’ve missed with the last 2 hires but this one feels right. Rhule will right the ship in 3 seasons

College head coaches going to the NFL, failing, and then coming back to college to massive success isn’t uncommon. I definitely see a world where Matt Rhule has Nebraska consistently in the top 10 in a few years time.
nick saban comes to mind.
Matt Rhule has an incredible opportunity here. If he can get to big 10 championship on a regular basis, national championship occasionally, he can stay as long as he wants.
Chip Kelly Jim harbaugh
@@felix-tp2qiNational Championship occasionally? You are delusional.
@@theecharmingbilly hey Homer, you spelled optimistic wrong. If I were to have said every year for a championship, perhaps your delusional comment would be correct.
As a Minnesota fan, I fear Nebraska will become that dominant program that it was in the 90's again. Rhule is the guy that can do it.
I'm an OU fan but I feel like this was a home-run hire for Nebraska. It's only a matter of time before Nebraska is back if Rhule sticks around which I think he will.
Matt Rhule is a wizard. This year might not be good but by year 2 it will be really good. Plus Nebraska has the fans and the backers to help him
Were it not for an overwhelming fan demand for Brent Venables, that included Bob Stoops, Joe Castiglione was completely going to hire Matt Rhule for the Oklahoma job. The Huskers got a good one finally. I truly believe that.
I think he’ll get Nebraska back to a healthy level of respectability, winning 8-9 games a year eventually.
9-3 10-2.
Eventually? We're winning 8-9 games this year son
@@lanetrainlet’s GOOOO
@@lanetrain closer to 8. 9 is considering a lot of things go right with our away games
@@lanetrainHe’s not great his first year, but I can see that next year. I think he has to kinda get players to buy in and build HIS team. But in time that team is very very good
I can see him being competitive for the west this year (maybe not winning it), and then in a year or two being competitive for the potentially being in the top 2 teams in the big ten (as it expands with USC and LA). Right now 7-5 seems easily doable for Rhule, but 8-4 is more than on the cards as well. Rumors that Shane Beamer and Satterfield didn’t get along too well at SC, different story in Nebraska….let’s see how he plays out there
😅 who isn’t competitive in the western division. It’s so weak… the 3or 4 best teams are always in the Eastern division. I do think Illinois could be up and coming as they got robbed out of a win against Michigan last year. It’ll be interesting to see Nebraska & possibly Wisconsin in a couple years.
@@KingKongbabe only thing about Illinois is, they have great talent on the lines, but the QB I’ve heard isn’t all that. Some analysts took a look at leaked practice footage, and Altmeyer (or however you spell it) seems like a solid 5/10. He’s nowhere near as good of a playmaker as DeVito was.
Let's see....coaches who were bad in the NFL but good/great in CFB. Urban Meyer, Nick Saban, Chip Kelly, Steve Spurrier, Dennis Erickson, Lou Holtz.......
Flashback to Nebraska in the Big 12
Hearing him say that if he didn't get hired, he would "take a high school job on Charlotte" is all I need to hear.
As a Michigan fan, I applaud the Matt Rhule hire as the best of the off season......should turn those fluky 1 score losses into some wins. Having said that, Minnesota is probably further along, and should be the favorite to win that first game. I hope you beat Colorado!
Rhule is exactly what the huskers needed. And sims about to break out.
As a Husker fan I'm so happy we landed him!
Good video, and you are exactly right that Nebraska year 1 is not what Baylor or Temple was. Expect year 2 results (or perhaps better). BTW, the schedule you showed had an error. Nebraska's game with Iowa is in Lincoln this year.
I think but most Nebraska fans think( myself included) is he can't be any worse than the last guy.
At bare minimum he has values hahahaha.
Tbh, I never believed in Frost from the start. I knew he was setting up for failure and the whole “coming home” hype was going to lead to disappointment. He was a sloppy coach with terrible work ethic and people skills. Rhule however….I have genuine hope for this guy. Kool-Aid has been collecting dust for a bit, time for me to wipe it off and drink finally. My final year as a student here, hope Rhule doesn’t disappoint
Finally found the right coach.
He did great At BU best in Texas
Freudian slip:
You said "Nebraska, it's the Big12"
B1G Ten
GBR!!!
It's not his coaching ability anybody is questioning. Nobody questioned Scott Frost either when he was hired because he had done a great job with UCF. The question is, can he make Nebraska nationally relevant again? With USC and UCLA coming to the BIG10, how is he going to make them competitive in a league already featuring Michigan, OSU, and Penn State?
Nebraska will be much improved and consistently in the number 5-8 range in the Big 10. Nationally, they’ll sit between 25 and 30.
Rhule is awesome. GBR!
i can name a few collage coaches who flopped in the NFL, but EXCEL at collage, i can name 1 of the best high school coaches ever in Ohio, went to ND and stunk to the high heaven, you stay where your best suited, IMO it's collage for Rhule
How good was saben and urban in the nfl ?
I think rhule stays. He’s tired of moving his kids and wife wanted to move to a great place. And I think he stays. At least through his contract.
"its Lincoln Nebraska, its the Big 12" lol yes, it should be at least
Haven’t been in the big 12 in a decade 🤦♂️
Nebraska isn't Temple and Baylor.
Yeah Baylor is better....
@@dezgarrett2790 has nothing to with Baylor being better Nebraska has more resources and talent across-the-board in 2022 they were the best 4-8 team in the country 😆 they beat Iowa in Iowa City 24-17 a game they were suppose to lose its on RUclips.
@@dezgarrett2790how is Baylor better? They don’t have what Nebraska has
@@dezgarrett2790Matt Rhule himself is on record disagreeing with you.
@@Swooop9530 Of course he is...what else is he gonna say?
Can someone tell this guy that nebraska hasn't been apart of the big 12 for over a decade....
College and the nfl are 2 different animals look at nick saban nfl career
Sooooo why are you concerned with the OC hire? Did I miss something? You are not the first to say this...
As a Gamecock, I am a HUGE Matt Rhule fan for taking the OC Marcus Satterfield from us. Its a win-win-win, Rhule gets his guy from Temple (good luck with complex pro style, zero points vs. Florida offense ) , Gamecocks get a new OC Loggains and Beamer didn't have to get his hands dirty by firing anyone. So, thanks Matt!
Rhule inherited a ton of talent at Baylor from Art Briles though and rode those coat tails He also didn't stay long enough for us to really see what he could do. I'll be a believer when he turns Nebraska around.
No he didn’t. Pretty much every Art Briles recruit left when the scandal came out. He had to start from scratch at that program.
Big 12??? Oops.
Of course he has went with satterfield he most of the time has went with him lol
Rhule moving from Nebraska? Doesn't seem very likely. First, where would he go? Maybe pen st? Ohio, Michigan probably not. I just think Nebraska is a really good fit and Nebraska fans and players want him there. It is really competitive football state. Also he hasn't been in a place for more than 3 years. It's hard to move every couple of years.
Satterfield? Idk, time will really be the judge. So far he seems to work hard and be a good fit. In the philosophy and the culture but does that translate on the field? They haven't had a game yet, so we don't know. Maybe Rhule and the other coaching staff make him a better OC.
If Rhule believes that he is the guy, I would give him the benefit of the doubt. I wouldn't count S. Carolina against him to hard because he wasn't there very long. I judge coaches over a longer body of work, tends to be much more accurate.
I think Penn St would be the only job he would leave for.
@someguy6212 right but they have a pretty good coach there. Availability is very important. The timing worked out very good with rhule coming to Nebraska, and I think everyone is generally pretty happy with the situation.
@@JeremyMcIntyre-v1n I agree. I think Rhule is a top tier coach.
I just don’t see it working out. I really hope I’m wrong
I just dont see it....the Nebraska from the 90's and early 2000's is gone. Theyre not gonna be able to recruit at a high enough level. They may win 7-9 games, but anything above that is just homerism and wishful thinking.
Rhule's philosophy with recruiting doesn't need recruiting at a high level, it needs scouting for raw measurables from players no other schools are looking at. 1/3 of nebraska's recruiting class this year are guys that don't make sense at all aside from exceptional athleticism.
We already recruit at high enough levels to jump to start moving in the right direction. Nebraska can pull top 20 classes even top 15 if they are winning that is plenty good enough to compete for the conference
@krunkformula You already recruit at a high enough level? Really? Also do you think a top 20 or even 15 class is gonna beat Michigan, OSU, Penn St, or even USC when the come to the Big 10? It's gonna take more than that brother.
@@nartufody4457 You think that's gonna beat OSU or Michigan?
@@dezgarrett2790 regular top 15 classes is absolutely enough talent to win 10 or 11 games half of the time and be competing for a big 10 championship with proper coaching
It’s the Big Ten, not the Big 12. Com’on man. 🤣 Got ya
Some other great failures in the NFL... Spurrier, Carol (the first time) and Satan.. i mean Saban.. college guys are college guys.
We will just have to see, I am not holding my breath.
We will lose every game.
13 - 31 - 1
...but we dont go by past records or failures anymore.
Colorado beats Nebraska by 20+ after beating TCU.
Whatever you’re smoking, I’ll take some of that.
He's not making anything great here. Doesn't matter what recruits or assistants he gets. He simply doesn't know how to be on the level of a Saban, Kirby, Dabo, Urban, Day, Harbaugh, and you pretty much can't name 10 coaches in the Big 10 he'll be able to get 10 wins over each year to even make a decent special team. Again, give him whoever you want and he won't know how to outcoach these guys. So he's already failed here and we're still on a coaching search.
@@parkermcintosh1710 You put Rhule at Ohio State right now and he wouldn't do as good as Day. Matter fact you put Rhule at any program in the Big 10 and trade him for their head coach right now and he wouldn't do as good there as their current head coach would. He's not elite and won't produce anything elite no matter which player or recruiting class he brings in and that's the bottom line.
Nebraska is done. Lost in the B1G. Sims is poor. Colorado is a buzzsaw that will set the stage for a 4 win season
Nobody is predicting Colorado to even be decent this year.
Sorry, but Colorado may not win a game this year. Nebraska will surprise many people because of coaching. Rhule is in charge, and coaches will be held accountable. Wat different than last 4 years.
