    I personally "upgraded" from 16-80 to the 18-55. The lens is much smaller, lighter, faster, doesn't lose focus in video while zooming and just feels more balanced, it's also much nicer to bring or when travelling, you definitely feel the size difference. One thing to stress is F4 is full frame equivalent to F6, on the iPhone you now have F6.2 equiv, so the 16-80 is marginally better than an iPhone for many types of photography (e.g. indoors, low light, casual), for a comparatively much heavier lens than other options.
    Being able to get to F2.8 at 18mm on the 18-55 is literally double the light coming into the lens, it makes the difference between a blurry or noisy image in a restaurant, vs a really nice one. Sure 16mm is noticeably wider, but at the expense of flatter (and in my opinion cheaper) looking images and the extra 25mm on the zoom end really isn't much, it won't make it much more useful for sports or wildlife and with F4 it has limited portrait use (if you even want to be this far away at 80mm). For me, the 18-55 is a clear winner and I sold my 16-80.

      That's a nice 'upgrade' :) You're right that F4 and size/weight are significant dealbreakers. I like my 18-55 more as well but am gunning for the Sigma 18-50 2.8.

      The Fujinon XF 16-55mm f/2.8 "red label" lens distinguishes itself with its remarkable sharpness and versatile focal range. Owning this lens provides the convenience of four prime lenses within a single unit.
      The XF 16-80mm lens presents several shortcomings. It features slower autofocus performance and susceptibility to focus loss while altering focal length in video recording. Furthermore, its absence of a linear motor (LM) results in noticeable focusing noise during operation. Additionally, I've experienced a decline in sharpness beyond a focal length of 60-65mm.

    I recently tried the 16-80 F4 lens used and it didn't impress me, I found it is soft at the long end. I have the 18-55 2.8-4.0 which is my favorite lens for all the reasons you mentioned in your video, this smaller lens is tack sharp and that is priority one, it isn't weather resistant and that is fine. I will take sharpness of any lenses anytime before anything else.

    The sensors are though same with canon and other cameras, we are confused, why Fujifilm cameras are very expensive.
    Please explain.

    • @PetrGardianTV
      @PetrGardianTV  Год назад

      Fujifilm is using X-Trans sensor that they developed for the APS-C line of cameras. It's different from traditional Bayer-type sensor that Sony uses. But sensor is not the reason why Fujifilm cameras are expensive. It's because their cameras are unique in the retro design which not only looks good but adds more traditional dedicated controls on the camera body. People like this combination and so Fujifilm can afford to charge premium. If you want cheaped Fuji camera, look at used X-E3, X-T3 or even older models. They are all good and there's plenty to choose from on eBay. Good luck!

      @@reflux043 Thanks, I get what you mean. The "times zoom" notation is simply the big number divided by the small one (so you can work it out for the Fujifilm zooms). It's popular in marketing but not very useful for photographers, who need to know the min and max focal length in full frame terms (1.5x for Fujifilm lenses).
      I think of a way to explain this in a video. Thanks for the inspiration!
