This is a great compariosion video. It's very new and we don't know where it goes. If there are problems like migrating to actual server then it;s a big no to use. So far no problems with using Local by Flywheel. Does it become another Gutenberg kind of useless unfinished project for coming years?
Hi, Paul. When I want to migrate a website on Local to an actual server, should I use a plugin like all-in-one-wp-migration to export and back up the entire website from Local, and then install the same plugin in the original WordPress backend to import the backup? Is this correct? Will there be any problems? Or what should I pay attention to? PS: I don't have an account with WP engine or FLYWHEEL, and I don't host my website on them.
@@WorkingInahanDiaries it means the local server running the site or sites will stop running and you won’t be able to access the site until you start it running again. 👍
@@WorkingInahanDiaries yes. To be able to access the site at all it would need to be running if you’re using LocalWP. If you upload the site to dedicated hosting in the future, that will remove the need to use Local.
Its still very early days for Studio and at this point is the worst its going to be. Local on the otherhand is well established and I would expect it to be ahead of the curve. Migrating using a db export and files transfer was easy for me to a live env for Studio. on Local, you can select a different sql on setup, but cannot change it after without exporting and importing again. Great vid as always!
For experienced users, I would agree. But, I'd still like to see WordPress drop that and generate random usernames and passwords, not just passwords. It seems a bit lazy imho. ;)
Tbh, I have no idea. I've never tried running a MacOS emulator. My first thought would be that you'd still potentially see issues due to non Apple hardware being used, so you're losing the benefit of the closed architecture that seems to make using Local more stable on the Mac.
Great video from Paul as always. But what are the benefits of a local wp compared to online such as InstaWP or other solutions. Local means download, setup, config, update, resources, and perhaps no https? With instawp, one can get a core wo site in no time, and change the php, wp version...on the fly.
Local is still so much better, there are a bunch of plugins that don't work. and the SQLite doesn't allow a lot of export solutions like all-in-one or wp migrate. Also their method of doing an SQL dump doesn't seem to actually work. Local is still the goto at present. the only thing Studio has going for it, is the speed of launch.
Hi! Studio by Wordpress is now available for Windows. 06/06/2024 💻
Thanks 😊
Studio gives you Sqlite while servers usually run on Mysql or others. There is a miss match there, so it will not work. I tried and faced this.
I’ve had issues when transferring a website to a real server. Studio seems to miss vital tables

Already created a video on that very topic. 😁

@@WPTuts Thanks a lot!
I'm having the same issue too. I can't migrate my site from a Studio to my server
Local straight up deleted a site of mine one time when it crashed. I didn’t know what happened until I found it in the recycling bin 😂
So basically you cant push to your live website on your own server or hosting of your choice from either app. Right?
Not unless you use WPEngine or Flywheel with Local. You’d still need to use a plugin like WPVivid to migrate from local to the server.
what happens if i click the stop running, what does that mean?

@@WPTuts good. thanks for the immedaite revert do i have to keep it running whenever I have to show the site to others?

@@WPTuts have you got a video migrating the site to a hosting provider?
Can you not install a plugin like all-in-one and download your site and then upload to your server?
Or does it not work like that?
It didn’t in my testing with Studio, no.
Would be great if u design local and hit a single sync button that syncs the files to the server
I agree - but, I would assume that is part of the benefit of using one of their dedicated hosting platforms that are integrated into Local.
Thanks! Can you make a comparison between locawp and xampp ?
Why not using Docer instead of Xampp ? :)
Very good video!
if we use vs code, the option will shows there that use vs code in open in terminal, finder and vs code
I'm sorry, that sentence makes no sense! Can you clarify what you're saying please?
@@WPTuts for me VS code option was showing
beside open in terminal
@@WPTuts like open in Finder, VS code , Terminal
For PC users, Laragon definitely

just to add, I dont think the 'admin' username is a real issue. on migration to live, just change it! lol.

@@WPTuts completely agree and im sure it will come... eventually! probably some hacky way just to meet a deadline to get the product out. :D
Why didn't WordPress buy LocalWP when it was available?
Local ❤🎉
Thanks Paul. Again a 10/10 video. What is the possibility to run a MAC OS emulator on Windows and then install Local WordPress?

I think the lack of being able to create a blueprint on Studio is a big negative. Definitely feels like a beta.
I use Laragon to build local.

Let's just say that I'm not moving away from InstaWP anytime soon. :)
when Studio will be available for Ubuntu then we’ll check, but for now the Local is the best
Local for sure

Local works on Linux. My only choice.
166.000 the number ot the Tuts, WordPress is going on tonight 😃
Competition is good.
Studio messed up my project.
Local is better, free, simple, & customizable
can i upload my website from local to a hosting server after i finish it ??
LocalWP
For me, LocalWP is by far better.
