- With much sadness I traded in My Moto Guzzi V7 Stone for a Ducati Monster 821 for my Birthday. I loved that bike but we had a special relationship. Here's my last ride to work on the Guzzi. For those of you who subscribed to the channel because of the Guzzi, Thank You! I hope you'll stick around for the new adventures on the Ducati!
> Has reliability issues with Guzzi.
> Replaces it with a Ducati.
After what I went through with the Guzzi ,(3 engines in 2 years plus other things) a ducati can't be that much worse. I have learned the value of a good warranty. And at least the dealer network is a little stronger. I know i know, plenty of more reliable bikes out there. But I had to scratch that itch. Thank you though for watching and commenting. Hope you enjoy the new videos on the new bike.

I couldn't ever fault anyone for buying a Ducati. Just beware of the Sausage Creature.
Will Ashmore uh oh,,, What’s the sausage creator?
It's from a Hunter S Thompson Ducati review story.
Will Ashmore that’s right! I have to reread that now. Thanks! “When the thrill of speed overpowers the fear of death”. What a wordsmith.
Aww, so sad. The V7 iii has been flawless so far for me, I would highly recommend it to anyone. Maybe yours was a lemon, or maybe the ii was crap, Idk. My point is the iii is fantastic :).
Thomas Alkærsig there was apparently a bad batch of V7 ii’s and mine was one of them. I don’t fault the bike. I loved it. But I will say, the Ducati is pretty amazing. Thanks for the comment!
Meat and Motorcycles that's unfortunate. But hey, that Ducati is pretty sweet. Enjoy :)
Yes, it's a fantastic bike. Rock solid reliable.
As an owner and rider for the past 8yrs of a 2010 Moto Guzzi V7, I am very surprised by number of mechanical issues that your Guzzi presented. I have not had no problems with my bike.
My only agitation with the Guzzi is that it requires a long warm up , starting from cold.
Congratulations on getting a new Ducati Monster.
David Marshall yeah. I was the unlucky one who got a bike from a batch that had a camshaft defect. I was sad to see it go but am really enjoying the performance and sound of the Monster. I’ll be back to Guzzi one day.
A remap can fix the cold start issue, ar least it did on mine..... Griso.org
I have not heard of any Guzzi owner complaining abt the reliability! I am happy with my V7ii Stone (Yellow) too...
Kelvin Lee yes! This sums up my Moto Guzzi experience. It’s a great bike. I just was one of the lucky ones. There was an entire batch that had my same problem. I just didn’t like the changes that had been made to the v7iii and needed to scratch the Ducati itch. Enjoy your Guzzi! G
Meat and Motorcycles Italian bikes ain't as bad as many people describe them to be. I have a Victory CrossCountry, Suzuki V-Strom, Moto Guzzi V7ii Stone & Aprilia Shiver, Wifey has a Kawasaki D-Tracker, Aprilia RS4 & Vespa GTS, Japaness, American or Italian they all are working fine for me.
Holy shit, I never realized you encountered that many issues with the Guzzi. Congratulations on the new Monster I cant wait to hear your first take on it. Beware of the engine heat in Manhattan traffic.
I didn't even really go into the real list. and yes, I have experienced the "Ducati heat". Can't wait to get some videos out with the new bike
I'm buying the V7 II today. I sold my reliable Honda NC700. I have been warned, but it's so beautiful.
I've enjoyed all the mini adventures you shared on your V7, and am looking forward to more on a bike that isn't made of citrus. A real shame your V7 was so problematic.... but it has opened the door for a Ducati Monster, awesome stuff! :-)
Thank you so much! It was a bummer how things went down with the Guzzi and I really wanted to have that bike for a long time. But I learned a lot and still love the brand. Now on to the Ducati!!
I'm sure it's tough to say farewell to an old friend, but a Ducati! It will be a trip down infatuation lane all over again. Best of luck. Can't wait to see the reveal.
2ndchildhood yeah, I didn’t go into all of the details but I sadly had to make the change. It is pretty cool though! Can’t wait to get more vlogs up!
Have a 821 and will trade it in for a v7. The monster is a great bike but has some problems of its own but you will soon find out :)
Fre yes, I am aware that I went from one delicate bike to another. So far loving the 821
Great to have you back! Your videos are funny “what are we having a party over here? Shut up!!!” Lol
Thanks! Glad someone is laughing at my ranting.
Can’t wait for the next video
Drew the RN thanks! Got some cool stuff coming up.
Hope you gave your Guzzi' a good bye kiss. She loved you...enjoy the Ducati! Safe riding!
Thanks! It was kind of sad to see the Guzzi go but that was over in about 20 mins if Ducati. I did see her all washed up for sale at the dealer . Hope someone enjoys her.
@@MeatandMotorcycles well, if she wasn't behaving properly and proving unreliable, it's time to get rid of her! Enjoy the new Ducati!😃 the 821 monster is beautiful!
Big changes between the type II and the new III's. Almost a whole new engine design.
bigwheelsturning yes. My issues were because of a bad batch of II’s but the III’s had some aesthetic changes that I just didn’t like. And i has to scratch that Ducati itch. I’ll be back to the Guzzi one day, I’m sure of it.
I have 1992 Honda Nighthawk.Bored with it she does everything rock solid reliable but can't connect with it.I want to love a bike and was thinking Griso 1200 or 1100 but reliability issues scares me.Leaning on BMW R9T
Ruben Sahakian RNineT has a lot of style. Friends that have one love them
It's too bad man. I have a 2016 V7II Stone, my first bike, and it's been great.
I definitely feel your reasoning with trading it out. The SV was giving me way too many problems as well. Hell... The month I decided I was finally gonna sell it, what happens? The headlight connections on the harness blow out. The final "F you" lol
- The illestrator - exactly! When riding the subway became more normal to me then riding the bike because it was always in the shop...... that’s when I knew it was over.
Truth
Glad to see you back, and with a new friend. Favorite moto vlogger
Thank you so much for the compliment! I hope to keep getting fun videos out there. g
I love the V7’s. Great bikes, you just got bad luck on yours. But a Ducati monster is also an iconic motorcycle! And you got another Italian bike!! Did a testride on a Ducati Scrambler. Man what a blast to ride! Good luck with the new bike and ride safe! Cheers
Thanks! yes, my experience is probably the exception that most enjoy their Guzzi for many many miles. I'm sure I'll be back one day. Thanks for watching and commenting. Looking forward to getting more videos up. g
I feel you. I have a 2017 v9 bobber. Every summer its a different electrical issue. Im just over the GWB in jersey. My service options are Brooklyn or or Goshen NY. Very far. I love my bike. I wanted to step up to an Audace but after this last issue i may have lost faith in guzzi.
Alex Gorant I miss my Guzzi but love my ducati. Zero issue in two years.
the king is dead. long live the king. congrats on new no. 2. see you soon, FIM
Flatironmike Camillo best comment ever!
I am going to do the reverse, trade my Ducati Monster 821 for a V7 iii Carbon. The 821 has been giving me too much of issues, worry about potential future issues, the parts are so expensive.
Saw your comment before the re-upload. I get it now. Too many issues for a bike that you need to rely on to get to work, and like you I don’t get the look of the V7 III. Looking forward to your first Ducati video.
yeah, I didn't go into too much detail about all of the problems because the owner of the dealership is a good guy and did everything he could to help. I really wanted to have that bike forever and tell people about all the adventures we had but after that last breakdown and the warranty expiring the thought of a massive repair bill down the road was too much to ignore. Plus Ducati threw in an extra year of warranty to sweeten the deal. Excited to get more videos up and get back to this as my creative outlet.
I own a 2016 MG V7II Stone. I love the bike. Thouh I did have issues with it, but the warranty covered them and were repaired without any hassle. The most annoying issue was the seals on the drive train leaked (but was repaired withour charge under the warranty). Since getting my MG V7II Stone I have also purchased a 2015 Harely Super Low 1200T. I do not plan on getting rid of either motorcycle. I am contemplating purchsing a 3rd bike in the near future. There are 3 that interests me above all others. They are the 2019 Motto Guzzi V85TT, 2019 Triumph Speed Twin or possibly the new 2019 Ducati Scrambler 800. Sorry you had to get rid of your MG V7 in order to buy your Ducati Monster.
Usually, as I watch your videos I start contemplating trading in my 20 year old Shadow with 47,000 miles on it for the exact bike you had (Guzzi) However, that damn Shadow has been a rock for me. Broke down once in 20 years and had it fixed the next day!!! I think I’m gonna keep the Shadow for a couple years more. Oh, and a side note-I think most bikes pop horribly loud if you shift into first while in motion-if you’ve any momentum at all just use 2nd-similar to an automobile, forcing into 1st while moving can damage a bunch of stuff after a while.
NEVER..SELL..THE SHADOW... I really wanted to have that Guzzi for ever and have it in a garage some day and tell people about all the adventures we had. But 3 engines in two years was about all I could take. It never cost me anything under warranty but the downtime was a killer. Turns out there was bad batch. Other people I talk to have had no problems with their Guzzi so I don't fault the brand or the dealer. Just my luck. But I learned A LOT! Thanks for the tip. Keep the shadow and get a fun cheap second bike. That's what I would do. Thanks for watching and commenting. g
The Guzzi is more reliable than a Ducati
Timothy Anderson 3 engines in two years on that guzzi plus two final drive seals and many other things was too much for me to handle. In 24 months it was in the shop for over 6 of those. It was a bad batch of V7ii’s and I don’t fault the brand. The V7iii had some esthetic changes that I just didn’t like. So far the Ducati has been great and the dealer network here is better than guzzi. If I wanted reliable I would have gotten a Yamaha but I had to scratch that itch. Thanks for the comment. G
@@MeatandMotorcycles Did they at least give you a decent trade-in value for the Guzi at the Ducati dealership? I've had lemons too in many years of riding, and I feel your pain :(
Timothy Anderson I was happy with the trade in and the deal in general. They added an extra year of warranty to make up for the difference of what I wanted for the guzzi. It was a good dealer experience.
Sorry to hear the V7 wasn't up to scratch. I am considering the V7 rough after 40 years on older Guzzi"s. I might just put higher bars on the old mk3 to get me to 70.
Good luck with the Duck,
@@warp65 I have had a V7 Classic for going on 3 years. I'm enjoying it. What's great is, there's only 2 or 3 MGs in my city, so it's pretty rare to see Guzzi here. I got a lot of looks on it.
I like this Motorbike and I am Mad about that Trademark!
Alberto Padovani stato innamorato con mio Guzzi ma era tanti problemi. 3 motori in due anni . Lo Stato al mecchanico più della strada. Ho stato triste venderlo ma sto contento con il monster. E meglio per New York City.
Interesting video .. obviously you should have gone for a Triumph , character + Japanese reliability !
david jay triumphs are great bikes, just not my thing. Had to scratch the Ducati itch
Oh man. Sounds like you just got a weird one. I had not a single issue with my Guzzi. Except for when I got sideswiped by a taxi with anger issues. How's the monster?
DirectorLJ the monster is great! No one issue so far!
What a waste of such a nice Guzzi... 14 years on selling my Le Mans 3 was the stupidest thing I ever did, regret it to this day.
bmp72 it wasn’t a happy decision for me but 3 engines on a two year old bike was about all I could take. I love the original Le Mans. When I finally get a garage I’ll pick up that 1976 I’ve always wanted.
jokes apart....it's the first time I've heard such thing about a moto guzzi, specially a v7!!! I have several friends with ducatis and have heard lots of horror stories of them but never heard any of guzzi's until now. I wonder what happended with your bike.....
There was a bad batch of V7ii’s that had a camshaft issue. It would seize and there was nothing you could do but replace the engine under warranty. 3 engines in two years was my limit. Plus a leaky final drive every six months or so. Each time had me off the road for a month if not two. There are many happy Guzzi owners out there so I don’t fault the brand. Thought about getting a new V7iii but I just didnt like the changes they made and the repair/dealer situation turned me off of the brand. In love with my Ducati and so far it’s gone twice as far as the Guzzi did before it’s first issue.
Live and learn. Thanks for watching . G
W Guzzi
Big mistake getting a ducati
You’re not the first to say this but so far I’m loving the new bike. It was a sad day to see the Guzzi go but 3 engines in two years was about all I could handle.
Buy an old Guzzi and Service to Mr Moe about CycleGarden in Your Land
Alberto Padovani cyclegarden e bravissimo! Stato veccino a mio vecchio casa a California. Ora vivo a New York City. Vedremo come andrà.
Meat and Motorcycles Nice! But 4 me exist only one Trademark: Moto Guzzi 😁
Alberto Padovani si. Sono stato un vero tifo della Guzzi . La storia è lo stilo. La vecchia Guzzi e il massimo. Staro molto felice conoscerti quando ritorno in Italia.
Meat and Motorcycles I will here in the Ghostown with my Guzzi's Motorbikes
how in hell did water get in the final drive ,. oil turns coffee colour with added water ,and what ,you said it did it twice
Basically there was really bad humidity and any air in the final drive had that humidity in it even if it was sealed . The heat and movement of the gears caused that moisture to emulsify the oil. Same as making aioli!
Bet you regret trading that V7 for a Ducati monster.
Not for a second. It's an amazing bike
mate filter...
D I’d love to but it’s illegal in NYC and I’ve had too many tickets for it. Have to let some of them points expire before I roll the dice . New York isnt a moto friendly city and the police love to stop bikes.
You will get nothing but bills and more bills with a Ducati
lol trades a Moto Guzzi for a Ducati to seek out reliability. Bad and bad. No harm meant by this , just stating facts.
You're not the first person to comment with that. Yes, I know, ducats's aren't known for their reliability. The guzzi was unfortunately a lemon(3 engines in two years) and I've always wanted that monster. So I went for it. I'm sure problems will reveal itself but until then its an amazing bike.
@@MeatandMotorcycles Judgement free-zone. I can't blame you for Monster-ing up. Wow! 3 engines in 2 years , that's a Doozy of a Guzzi ;)
It’s a piece of shit. I liked the brand for years and then I saw your videos.
Your commentary is not as clever as you think it is.
44thatssweet thanks for watching my un-clever commentary.
Is it just me or does Moto GUZZI consistantly turn out great looking pieces of shit? If buy one if they did not break at least three times a year. Fuckin joke. Its 2019 get your shit together Italy.
If it was just a bad batch of v7s why did they have to replace the motor 3 times? I don't understand. Lol. Not trying to be a dick but im curious what kind of shit you got spoon fed. guzzi should have upgraded your bike to something different or gave you free gear or something.
