      Me and my calculator will do it for you
      The fastest shot ever recorded is Ronny Heberson's freekick, clocking in at 211km/h
      The length of a pitch must be between 90 and 120 meters, so we will use a 90m pitch for this
      90 / 211 = 0.42654028436
      5,400 (amount of seconds in a match) / 0.42654028436 = 12,660
      Which would tie the score 6,330 - 6,330, if it was a tournament match it would be sent to an extra 30 minutes, adding another 6,330 which would equal 18,990. Sending the match into a penalty shootout that can go on for an infinite amount of time, but they don't count to the actual score.
      So the the maximum score is 18,990 or 9,495 - 9,495

      Hull's slapshot was fast, but the reason he doesn't have the record is the inaccuracy of the equipment available at the time to measure the shot.
      To play devil's advocate though, I would love to see 2012 Chara measure his shot using a 65 inch Sher-Wood. That would pretty much put the controversy to rest. Maybe even current Weber, since he can get pretty close.

    Your max score for hockey is a little off. You didn't account for period breaks. In a hockey game you don't have sixty minutes to score you have three twenty minute periods. During each of these 20 minute periods, the maximum amount of goals is 2,181.8181. Because hockey doesn't allow goals that aren't fully across the line before period expiration to count, we must disregard the 0.8181 goals. This makes the max per period to be 2,181. There are 3 periods and therefore the max goals for the three twenty minute periods are 6,543 not 6,545.
    You did blow my mind with the 52 pitch thing, though.

    • @ryanfield431
      @ryanfield431 7 лет назад +8

      This is where an understanding of the rules and nuance in my explanation would do you wonders. Yes, 3 times 20 equals 60. I never disagreed with that statement. The purpose of specifying three twenty minute periods (this is where nuance and deep thought comes in) is that you don't get a continuous 60 minutes to score goals, as 5PG used in his calculation. The three twenty minute periods lessen the goal possibility because (this is where knowledge of the rules comes in) goals are not allowed unless they fully cross the goal line. So the last shot of every period will not count as a goal because it will not cross the goal line. Three times twenty does equal sixty, but that was never under contention. 5PG understood this because he understands that this small detail is accurate and he missed it. No hate, just clarifying.

    • @ryanfield431
      @ryanfield431 7 лет назад +6

      I would also just like to clarify before any more of the dregs of the internet comment again. This is in no way a hate comment. 5PG got that. This was simply a fan playing 5PG's game.

    • @ashenwolf98
      @ashenwolf98 5 лет назад

      Actually, it would be 4 pit stops assuming the entire 200-lap race stays green. The fuel window is just under 50 laps, so for argument's sake let's just say the driver refuels every 45 laps. The driver would then need to refuel on laps 45, 90, 135, and 180, with approximately 25 more laps of fuel available as they cross the finish line.

    ACTUALLY!! in the nfl there is a thing called the defensive one point safety. this happens when a team is going for a 2 point conversion but ends up getting a safety. In order for this to happen the team going for the conversion ( team a) could throw an interception to team b. Team b runs it back to the 1 yard line of the opposite end zone, but before they can get in the end zone, team a forces them to fumble the ball and then recovers it in the end zone for a defensive 1 point safety. Isn't that weird?

    Hockey is not so simple just calculating amounts of shots from the red line because there would have to be a faceoff after every goal which unless you shoot the puck right when the puck is dropped it would take time to get set up for a shot from a defenseman because no center has a shot that hard.

    Technically the baseball one is wrong. If the home team is up, only 4.5 innings are needed to play a complete game because if the weather is bad, the game can be ended. Assuming those circumstances went into effect, then the series of one-pitch outs occurred, the minimum number of pitches for one game is 22

    • @squiddi1393
      @squiddi1393 7 лет назад +2

      The game won't end if the lead is small. They will simply play another day or wait it out. A lot of us came up with 17 pitches minimum in a full game. Two intentional walks every inning an a one pitch triple play on both sides. Bottom of the ninth intentional walk steal every base. But This just came to me: theoretically we can intentional walk every body and catch them trying to steal or pick them off, every inning on both sides. Then in the bottom of the ninth intentional walk and steal all the bases. 0 pitches total.

    3:42 Love that you used the Marik Malek goal. For backstory this was the previous longest shootout ever recorded. Both goaltenders were playing amazing. Malek had 0 goals on the season I believe. One of the last guys you'd send for the shootout. But he was indeed one of the last players on the team that hadn't had a turn yet so they send him out there and he pulls the inbetween the legs goal to win the game. Go Rangers!

    For the baseball bit. The minimum pitches for a game to end is 1. (I think). It’s even weirder than 17 and a half immaculate innings. So what would have to happen is every single player would have to stand outside of the batters box every single at bat, and the umpire would call strikes without the pitch being thrown until they come back into the batters box or strike out. (This would most likely not happen because players would probably get ejected first.) then in the bottom of the ninth, the pitcher would give up a walk off, or more weird...

    • @jacksonlynch5125
      @jacksonlynch5125 5 лет назад

      ...hit the first batter up, then balk 3 times and the runner would go from first to home.
      Just some fun facts.

    • @jacksonlynch5125
      @jacksonlynch5125 5 лет назад

      Ok so I forgot. Technically, because of the new intentional walk rule, the minimum is 0 pitches. Because the pitcher can say intentional walk or whatever, then balk 3 times.

  • @NeRDbOy100
    @NeRDbOy100 5 лет назад +1

    Now that the intentional walk doesn't require throwing any pitches, it is possible to complete a game with ZERO pitches. Simply intentionally load the bases, then comes the hard part - a series of events leading to a triple play in a pickoff attempt... in every inning. Until the bottom of the ninth, where you intentionally walk home the winning run, cause why not?
    The winning pitcher's line would be 9.0IP, 0H, 27BB, 0K, 0R, 0ER, and zero pitches.
    The losing pitcher's line would be 8.0IP, 0H, 28BB, 0K, 0R, 0ER and zero pitches.

    For the NHL part , "A team could theoretically have an undefeated regular season without scoring a single goal". This is....well, completely wrong. A team winning all 82 games via shootout that were all 0-0 after regulation and OT would be recorded as having 82 GF, 0 GA. A shootout win counts as one goal for in the standings, and a loss counts as one goal against. A 0-0 game decided by shootout goes down as 1-0, and the only way it's different than a 1-0 win in regulation is that the win doesn't count as a ROW, which is only used for breaking ties between teams with the same amount of points (not relevant to the video). It's still a goal for the winning team, and a goal against the losing team.
    This is easy to verify--look at the standings page on www.nhl.com/standings , scroll to the bottom where it tells you the tie-breaking procedure, and it's clearly stated there. So 1-0 is absolutely the lowest score you can win an NHL game by, shootout or not. To be clear, a shootout-winning goal just gets added to the GF column; it counts exactly the same as any other goal, can be used for the GF/GA difference to determine a tiebreaker, etc.

    • @FivePointsVids

    Snooker is an interesting one
    As someone will say its 147 as a maximum
    But starting a break with a free ball moves it up to 155
    However a little known rule is if the referee makes a mistake and replaces a colour with the red, and then the game is resumed, then the red has to stay on the table, even if it hasn't moved
    Theoretically meaning it could be a infinite score line/break

    The NASCAR one was pretty sloppy, because it doesn't account for the slowing of lap times due to tire wear, an estimation of time spent taking several pit stops through out the race, the impact of drafting with other cars to increase speed and fuel mileage, as well as the potential effects of weather on the race over the course of several hours (particularly wind). • @Ryan-lm8kd

    *ahem* in the NHL, after 22 rounds of the shootout it ends a tie. If nobody scores in the game, it stays 0-0 final score. And the game counts as a game played but nowhere to go on your record. You could do this 82 times and have a record of 0-0-0. If every team did it then I guess there is no playoffs due to every team having the same record.

  • @tiladx
    @tiladx 7 лет назад +7

    Actually, the minimum score to complete a regular season NFL game is 0-0; there is only 1 OT period, and regular season games can end in ties. Regular season CFL games can also end in 0-0 ties, since their overtime is similar to the NCAA overtime but only has two rounds in the regular season. In the post-season, NFL games could end 2-0, while CFL games could end 1-0.

      Wrong. The minimum number of pitches is ZERO! Intentional walks are automatic now. Pitchers don't have to pitch around batters. They can just give up the base without throwing pitches. Which means a pitcher could intentionally pass someone and then pick them off first base, which would record an out without any pitches being thrown. Because of this, intentional passes put runners on base without pitches being recorded. 4 intentional walks scores a run. So, a pitcher could pick off 27 intentionally walked batters and get a complete game shutout without ever throwing a pitch. And a team could win by being intentionally walked 4 times in a row.
      This also means the score to a baseball game could be infinite for both teams and last an eternity without any pitches ever being thrown. Because intentional walks could score runs for an eternity and they also set up pick off plays for an eternity. So the answer is Zero. The combined minimum number of pitches for a baseball game between two teams is ZERO!!!!

    Lowest score possible in the NFL is 0, not 2, if it's a regular or pre-season game.
    Bonus: lowest total points possible to win the Super Bowl is 6 (under pre-Covid rules). If you tie all 16 games with 0-0, you're record would be the equvilant of 8-8, which is technically enough to get 1st round bye under very unlikely conditions (involving the opposing conference to rack up wins against yours, a single dominatant team in your conference sucking up all the wins going 16-0.)
