"We're living in a powder keg and giving off sparks!" Incredible imagery in this song. And the video is incredibly beautiful and creepy at the same time. A classic.
Well it was written for a musical about vampires and that song was sung by a vampire and a girl he fell in love with that's why "forevers gonna start tonight" as he wanted to turn her into vampire
All the songs in the old Faster Than the Speed of Night tape are really good. Though there is a reason Total Eclipse of the Heart hit number one and stayed there. So much power and passion in Bonnie Tyler's voice. And the doctors never thought she'd sing again.
Fun fact, this a love song about a woman who has fallen for a vampire and is afraid that he's maybe moved on without her, until when she needs him the most, he appears before her once more. And by the sounds of things, she's made her mind up and wants to be with him forever. This was made by Jim Steinman of Meatloaf fame, and it was intended for a musical about vampire romance. Sadly the musical never took off, so he started pitching songs, of which this one apparently didn't need much if any rewriting.
New to your channel and enjoyed the reactions. It took me a bit to realize what was happening in the video. Especially, since there's not much on it. It looks, to me, like she is the headmistress of an all boys school and the video is of her making rounds while her night/supernatural students are there.
watching two people listening to a song? the world has gone mad. and if you don't know this song, then the other music can't tell you anything either. :D
I do find it somewhat ironic that in the song she is yearning for a masculine man who will love and protect her but in the video she is surrounded by effeminate gay ballet dancers and choirboys who the director of the video probably preferred.
That’s why she is yearning for her manly vampire lover, because she’s a teacher at a boys’ school and surrounded by boys who have crushes on her, but she needs her mystery man. She’s holding out for a hero, if you will.
@@RLucas3000 I don't understand where you get the idea that she is yearning for her "manly vampire lover" when she is surrounded by in the video (or at least the director of the video surrounded her with effeminate gay boys who, as I said, he probably had a predeliction for) by a troupe male dancers who did not have any sexual interest in her. Where does the word "vampire" come into it? Is it your idea of the hated straight white man?
@@jonq-brit3817 It was written about a vampire douche. And you don't know what the reasons for the "effeminate gay men" (your opinion based on nothing) were there but I can guarantee that RLucas3000 is more correct about it than you since he was right about the vampire. By the way, which men were the "effeminate" ones? You assume that ballet dancers are gay AND effeminate because of out of date societal stereotypes. You should know better.
"Once upon a time I was falling in love, now I'm only falling apart" - we've all been there!
so damn true
This is written by Jim Steinman, who wrote most of Meatloaf's similar 'epic-sounding' songs.
Bonnie Tyler, in this video is a rose among thorns. She's Gorgeous and i always loved her voice.❤.
The most powerful ballad in history. wonderful universal song of love.
‘I really need you tonight…….” Always gets me.

This is the theme song of the German musical "Dance of the Vampires"! It's just amazing!
