Its been the round it fires for as long as Halo h as existed. It was first mentioned in CEs manual.

The use of this ammunition is considered a war crime against unarmored targets. The Stanchion is even worse; targets hit by it simply cease to exist, reduced to a cloud of partiulates alongside whatever they are in, near, or holding.
Srg. Johnson used one to turn an Insurrection leader into a meat grenade from 4 klicks out...through a car.
To be honest, the Stanchion is closer akin to a rail gun modeled like a sniper. Now imagine if it fired bullets that not only over penetrated, but also lit living targets on fire!
M99 was one of the Snipers used by the Sniper units from Halo Wars 2 and is one of my favorite snipers in Halo lore

Little fun fact about the SRS99, its the only gun in the halo universe to use Soviet/Russian made ammunition with it using the 14.5x114mm which is a soviet made round made to fight against tanks during WW2 in the PTRD and PTRS anti tank rifles and on the KPVT heavy machine gun which was mostly used against aircraft.
I mean a pointy metal cylinder going really fast is still just as good at doing damage no matter how far into the future you are
Here's hoping we get a lore-accurate M99 one day. Probably too strong MP but that's fine by me. Goofy mechanics and awesome weapons are just as much a part of Halo's identity as intense, competitive multiplayer.

As a no scope player, I approved this video. 343 put the M 99 in multiplayer make it a reality.
Its a skin you can buy for the Sniper.
It’s a shame it’s only a skin. If we had a lore accurate stanchion, it would be the most overpowered and unstoppable tool of destruction we could get our hands on
Shame that the Stanchion is just a skin and not a standalone weapon that it actually is in lore and should've been so in the game
Mate, this thing has a kill range of 4.5 KILOMETERS. Its capable of punching through vehicle bodies, concrete, small aircraft, Waffle Houses and more. It would be IMPOSSIBLY unbalanced.
It would be the most over powered and unstoppable tool of destruction to get our hands on. So damn cool. Which is why something like that would be completely unfair to use in multiplayer and should be reserved for special campaign missions where you have to take out a target through a building wall

The lore accurate stanchion is ridiculously powerful. You should go to the halopedia and look up the stanchion for more in depth detail. It’s honestly the zenith of handheld projectile weaponry. The power that thing has is uncanny and worth reading about

@@paytonallen1027 if we had more multiplayer story I could see it coming back for stuff like that, but unfortunately as we all know it was cut 😔. But I can see it being used on power weapon pads in btb and have one be on the map at a time, similar to the scorpion gun on scarr for btb heavies. And then the ammo doesn't have to be super high either
We don’t need the M99 Stanchion in MP, at least not matchmaking. It’s more overpowered than Linda’s sniper. Forge/customs and campaign though, sure.

I used to be really good with the snipers in HALO C.E. I would play with my family and they would get mad for killing them to much
PLEASE at least let us get items individually! I would buy the stanchion if it was a 5$ individual item as I’m sure many of us would. But buying an 18 dollar bundle for only one thing I’m going to use in it is OUTRAGEOUS. If you want people to play the game, give people what they want.

Can you guys also add damage/ cracks effects to the visor, once the shields pop , I want to know which level of cracked I am. Small crack , medium then death .

Gas operated?! So the bullets don't have gunpowder?
Gas operation refers to how the weapon cycles, which is by gas blow back. When fired, a portion of the explosion that propels the bullet is redirected to push back the bolt, which cycles the rifle and loads the next bullet from the detachable box magazine. The more you know!

Why are the reload sounds for this weapon so *BOOTY,* though? This game dropped the ball in terms of reload sound design and a couple of firing sounds for the UNSC weapons. They're so quiet and unsatisfying. They lack the *OOMPH* and *CRUNCH.*
Not saying the game in general is bad for that, it's just a letdown in the weapon sound design department compared to 343's previous work.

It is real. It’s a Denel NTW-20 anti-materiel rifle. Fires a 20 x 82mm cartridge. Meant to target armored personnel vehicles, communications stations, etc. Not meant for firing at human targets.

@@KillerOrca eh sorta, it’s still a projectile that is launched via electromagnets. The charge most likely is just the battery amping up the magnet to get it launched
