  • Paradise loop is the most popular bike ride in Northern California, from locals to bike renting tourists. The 30-mile loop from the Golden Gate Bridge has some of the most stunning views of the bay, while the undulating, winding road will keep longing for more.

    Great Videos!!! I always go to the Bay to ride. I will be going again on Saturday. I always start in Sausalito and go up Camino Alto into Corte Madera and swing into Paradise Loop. I ALWAYS stop at Café Acri! That's a must! After the Paradise warm-up, I climb up Conzelman Road to the top of Hawk Hill. If the day is still young, I will ride over the bridge into S.F. Thanks for posting Onion Valley Road. I always wanted to see what that climb was like. That is on the list now.

      Hi, Pointsur, throwing in Hawk Hill with those fantastic bridge views is the perfect ride for someone who is traveling here. If I could suggest, look up Marin Headlands on Strava + Battery Townsley. The picture on my cover page is taken at Battery Townsley.Thanks for commenting.

      I ride this route about 1x a month. It is fabulous. I am a 75. We also frequently ride our tandem on this ride.
      Always stop at Acri cafe.
      We like to start this ride at Mike’s Bike in Sausalito.

    The ride looks amazing ! How hilly or how much elevation change it has and where does it start and stops ?

      Hi, Juan, it's a 25-mile loop if you start at Mike's Bikes in Sausalito or it's a 40-mile loop from the Golden Gate Bridge and about a 50-mile ride from my house. The only two climbs are Camino Alto Rd in Mill Valley and climbing back up to the bridge.

      Hi Kevin, thanks for the information, I also found the loop on Strava. I'm planning a SFO trip sometime within the year so will keep it in mind, maybe we can get together for a ride and coffee/beer. Also hope you will come and visit/ride Guatemala.

    Do you prefer to ride the Paradise Loop clockwise or counter clockwise?

    • @RoadBikeCulture
      @RoadBikeCulture  5 лет назад +1

      Michael Graca to be honest, I prefer clockwise with Belvedere island and strawberry, it makes the ride 55 miles and the scenery is amazing. Thanks for watching.

    DO YOU UPLOAD THIS ROUTE ON STRAVA ?

    Do you have any safety tips for someone riding across the bridge for the first time? The thought of blind corners, narrow lanes and tourists are pretty scary for me. Is it best to just ride very slowly with one foot clipped out, or is it not as bad as I am imagining?

    • @RoadBikeCulture
      @RoadBikeCulture  6 лет назад +2

      P J The first time is always the scariest, it can be quite intimidating, here are a few suggestions.
      1) ride at a safe pace for your skill level.
      2) look ahead and anticipate the movement of others.
      3) follow someone who seems confident, but not close.
      4) try to stay clipped in, but don't be afraid to un-clip.
      5) stay calm, don't get angry, remember, all tourists have been planning this vacation for a long time.
      6) be kind!

      don’t pass unless you have a great sight line for oncoming, slow down at the towers, you can stay clipped in or unclimbed one side at the tower, and don’t worry so much about getting across fast

      I crossed the bridge daily for many years, and tips 5 and 6 are the most important. Just be patient. Most of the people on the bridge are tourists who have never been on the bridge before and never will again-don't ruin their experience by being an uptight dick. Take your time, pay attention, and relax. You might have to stop, you might have to unclip, but sooner or later you'll get across.
      The only other piece of advice I'd give you is to be careful going around the towers. The wind can be intense and it's easy to lose your balance as you change direction.
      TL;DR: It's a cool, unique experience, not a Strava segment. Take it easy, be nice, and enjoy.

    Put information about the ride, %, when it gets steeper, when it gets easy, good for bigger or good for smaller guys. Summer temps, winter, fall, best time of the year. SHow group rides, people getting dropped after someone puts the hammer down. The down hill, how safe, how nice or not so nice the drivers are around with the cyclists. Tarmac condition etc... Well done!

      Hey, Carlos, I did intend to do that, but this was my first video shooting outside with a mic, and I ran into some technical problems in editing. My channel is a work in progress, so please keep those ideas coming. I'm also trying to integrate the "relive" app on to the video.

      Road Bike Culture I am on it!
      I am sharing your videos. Soon I will place them on my Facebook, I will select a few of them. Loved the lance video. You were a good devils advocate on that one but you only brought valid points.
      I know people that rode with him. Many says he is a total asshole but many says she is awesome.
      I too have mixed feelings about him but I can say that 80% of the reason I push on pedals is cuz of him. I actually wish they would give him a 50mil fine and let him go back to be lance.
      In exchange I need a favor: I am about to move to Sacramento area due to the prices in the area. I live in Los Gatos and I hate it. I do love riding the Santa Cruz mountains but the hicks and commuters don't like me riding them LOL.
      If you know Sacramento area, where is the good riding there? Thx!

    why would you wear a gillet flapping all over the place? seems pointless

    • @RoadBikeCulture
      @RoadBikeCulture  7 лет назад +1

      Hi, well because in San Francisco, it's usually cold and windy in the city and on the bridge, then it tends to get a lot warmer in Marin County. If you noticed, my gillet is zipped for most of the ride, and I did zip it back up once I was on the bridge again. Thanks for stopping by, I always like comments.
