  • In this video I remove the TopWisdom TL-410C controller from a Red/Black 80W Laser and Install a Ruida RDC-6445G controller (Available from Cloudray Laser amzn.to/2XD7tuI).
    or here: mwlaser.com.au/product-catego...
    The PDF Document with all the configuration settings for the Red & Black Chinese Laser with a work area of 700x500mm is discussed in this Guide.
    (Please Note: This can also be adapted for use with other cutting area sizes, and settings are used to help with initial setup only and will need to be fine tuned to your specific machine, The Trocen 708 Series Configuration settings are NOT discussed in the PDF Guide)

    Info how I did this change over can be found below with links to sections of the video by clicking on the time stamps.
    The steps I used were inspecting the current configuration and take notes, them remove the old TopWisdom Controller. (See 1:09)
    I printed out the wiring diagrams for both the TopWidsom and Ruida Controller, to compare wiring configurations. I numbered the connections on both diagrams to make sure the wiring changeover went smoothly (See 2:05)
    Print another copy of the TopWisdom controller to use that as labels for the wires in the machine with the current setup (see 2:19)
    After removing the old controller I commenced the installation of the Ruida controller (See 3:00)
    Once all connections were checked and checked again it’s time to turn on the power (See 3:50)
    The initial display language is in Chinese so here I show how to change it to English (See 4:15)
    To change to English, Press Menu, Press down arrow 3 times, press enter, press enter again on the 1st option, them press down arrow twice and press enter. This should now be in English.
    NOTE: The controller needs to be configured to your machine's requirements, note the information displayed is for my particular machine, if you have a machine like this the settings may be the same but due to manufacturing differences there may be other settings that are required to suit your particular setup.
    At (5:08) I show the 'Manufactory' settings I was able to use on my machine with the help of Bill who had done this changeover himself on his machine with success. I show settings here that you can pause and review if you need to, see NOTE above. The password for the settings on this controller is RD8888
    8:59 - I designed a console to house the controller, ammeter and temperature gauge, using Black Satin Acrylic from Trotec (engraving-supplies.com.au) Then using SCIGRIP Acrylic adhesive Welded the pieces together (See 9:40)
    I Recommend a 0-30mA AMMETER - mwlaser.com.au/product/cloudr...
    I purchased SCIGRIP in Australia on Ebay from Rooney G Plastics www.ebay.com.au/str/plasticsrgp
    RGP - www.rgplastics.com.au/
    RGP offers a full range of plastic services, including but not limited to the below; For more information and to discuss your requirements, call us or send an email, we are happy to help. Covering the internals of your machine with rags to catch filings drill and screw the console to the machine and feed through the wires to the console, not shown (See 10:39)

      Yes a Ruida controller is preferable to the TopWisdom controller and worth the extra $$ . They are a much easier controller to use and configure, they are also compatible with much better software such as RD Works or LightBurn

    Hi Matt!! I’m converting the top wisdom to the 6445 right now do I just connect all the wires that are labeled on the tl-410 to the same labeled wires on the ruida?
    Like lmt-Y+ on CN-1 would go to the CN4 lmtY+ on the ruida?
    The ruida CN1 doesn’t list a lmtY+ wire
    The only lmtY+ is on CN4 for the ruida
    I’m assuming you had to extend some wires like the 24v+ and ground
    Do you have a more detailed explanation for switching the brains?
    Thanks :)

    Hi Matt! I'm hoping you may be able to help.. I have a same Chinese laser (except the 60 watt version) and have just installed the exact same controller using your video here as a guide. The problem is that my laser keeps turning on and showing the laser at position 10000x,10000y. To correct it, I have to reset the lasers position but it keeps hitting the x axis boundary on the left and making a horrendous grinding noise, which I know is not good for my motor. The wiring is all correct, and the boundary switches are fine as when I reset it recognized the boundrys on both x and y. Did this happen to you at all? If so, how did you correct it?

    • @MWLaser
      @MWLaser  5 лет назад +1

      Yes after installing the new controller this will happen, but you need to stop or press esc when powering in the machine so that it does not hit the sides and grind on the axis.
      To fix this you will need to make settings changes in the controller for the size of the working bed and the acceleration as well as step settings. I can assist you with this if you want. email me using matthew@mattsworkshop.net or go to my web address and start a facebook message from the homepage www.mattsworkshop.net

    Do you know if the rdc6445 panel will work on rdc6442 mainboard? It seems most the functionality is the same, it’s just difference button layout and screen size

    • @MWLaser
      @MWLaser  3 года назад

      No you should not use the RDC6445 panel with the RDC6442 mainboard. They have different functions and menu systems, in short If you connect a RDC6445G panel to RDC6442G controller, it can work but you will have many errors, such as:
      When you read file from controller, it will hang / freeze up.
      Files will not display correctly on the screen.
      The function of some keys on the RDC6445G will not work.

  • @kirisakichitogee

    I'm also trying to replace the laser controller to RDC6445G.
    However, the stepper motor gets step-out. The pulse width seems to be too short.
    When pushing arrow keys on RDC6445G, each motor on the X or Y axis gives high-tone sounds, but it doesn't rotate (sometimes it rotates slightly).
    When setting 1/4 division pulse width on the stepper motor driver, the motor rotates but the moving width and the resolution also shrinks to 1/4. I'm in trouble.
    By the way, I'm using the 17HS4401 stepper motor and the TB6600 stepper motor driver.
    Do you have some information on how to set up the pulse width of the stepper motors on RDC6445G?
    I'm trying to change the values in the "Manufactory settings" menu of RDC6445G, but it doesn't get better.

    I decided to go with a 6442S instead. I rewired everything but hit one problem. The TL-403CB controller that was in the machine uses 5V/3A according to the diagram, but the RDC says it takes 24v. Did you have an issue with that? Our engineer here says we might need to wire a separate power supply for the new controller/box.

    • @MWLaser
      @MWLaser  5 лет назад +1

      Hi Kevin, No I did not run in to this issue. The controller I had was a TL-40C it used 24v supply.
      Check your power supply for the controller, the one I have has dual voltage outputs, it supplies both 24V and 5V
      If your power supply only provides 5V then yes you will need a separate 24v for the RDC controller.
      Cheers Matt

      Thanks Matt. I must say I am a little confused on the wiring. Seems like their are several wiring diagrams in the Ruida user manual and I'm not sure which one I should be using. Maybe all of them. Seems like each diagram serves a different purpose. The Top Wisdom diagram seems to be pretty straight forward.

      Hope you figure it out, I'm sure you will like the new controller. I mainly used the diagram of the main board on page 10 of the most current manual for the RDC-6445 controller, matching up the connection plugs labeling with the connection labels from the TL-410c controller. They were all labelled similarly so there wasn't much guess work involved. Cheers Matthew
