The " NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti 8 GB GA102 " was the ONLY card with GA102 that was put out to the public, I don't know if you can slap a 102 in a regular 3070 TI like my Zotac AMP Holo since its 104 and might not have the power. I'm VERY interested in how you do the 3070 Ti memory upgrades without messing up the cards, you have fantastically steady hands. Great work and awesome videos!
The GA102 cannot be installed on the GA104 slot. There is a size difference and the circuit is also different. The power requirements are also more. GA102 is too large for the regular 104 slot. The whole PCB will need a change.

Amazing work, I'm surprised it having a GA102 core also, I think maybe it was a 3080 core but defective or did not meet spec so bios flashed maybe to be a 3070Ti,I have a 3070Ti and it uses GA104 (LHR)...I WONDER if that 3070Ti you have can be flashed to a full 3080!
I’m pretty sure nvidia disables the the extra cores at a hardware level, in the past there have been chips that they only disabled at a software level and you could bios flash them to a higher tier gpu. Safe to say that lessons were learned and now unfortunately we can’t take advantage of that.

Yes, schematics and boardview play important roles in understanding the circuit. Its not available on the internet. You will have to join a discord server of Richard (Learn Electronics Repair) or Tony (Northwestrepair).
I assume when you say chip you are referring to the GPU core. Yes the core is replacable however you cannot buy new core. It iss either swapped from another GPU which has a working core and other parts not repairable. This can take a lot of time depending on a donner card to be found. There are alternatives like buying from Aliexpress but i would not recomend this option. 😁
Hey mate, i have a rtx2060 super and a gtx 1080. i would like to get fixed, but no one in Australia will do it as we don't have any repairers here. Would u be interested in fixing them?
Sure I can fix the GPUs however you will have to consider the shipping cost to ship it to Dubai and back. After you check the shipping costs involved you can book your repair by clicking the link in the video description. 😁
@GraphicsCardRepairs-tk7ql i have checked the shipping. It's not overly expensive. Is there any import duties i need to consider for u to receive them in ur country as well?
There is 5% import duties on product value above USD 250. This is the declared value you will enter on the invoice you will attach. Else the amount is USD 15. When declaring declare it as damaged. Avoid over valuing the GPUs.

@@GraphicsCardRepairs-tk7ql I did knew about that, but never actually seen one. They are very rare and were produced near the end of the production cycle. That GA-102 is so heavily cut down that it almost makes me cry 😢
It was a GA102 that didn’t pass quality control tests and was binned as a 3070 Ti core. AMD and Intel do this all the time on bad yields. Just as a example I had a AMD Phenom II 965 Black X4 which was labeled as a quad core but started its life as a six core CPU that failed QC so two of its cores were disabled then repackaged as a quad core. Some motherboards could unlock the other two cores which I was pleasantly surprised when selling as I sold that CPU used after two years of use for more money then I paid new for it.
@@GraphicsCardRepairs-tk7ql Wouldn’t surprise me that Nvidia was having serious QC issues as we all remember the shutdowns of late 2019-2020 so they probably may have just used what was available at the time by disabling shaders in the SOC. Out of curiosity have you seen a lot of EVGA 3090 Ti failures? They were releases early 2022 so hopefully the supply and QC issues had improved by then. Thank you.
So far I have not received a single 3090 Ti for repairs. I have received all other GPUs except for this one. Maybe they really designed the circuit that well. Time will tell. 😁

But is the performance of the 3090 there ? Or its just not all 3090 cores and shaders used ?

as long as the under chip chamber isn't breached you can soak the chip and move the wax around under the die to get the chip to work again
