one reason to have more vram on an older card is so that you can do 3D animation rendering with it. GPU based 3D rendering requires you to load the model into VRAM for each card so the amount of VRAM becomes a limit to the complexity of scene that you can render. more VRAM equals more complex scenes. You can also use multiple cards and split which cell they render to improve render times but you cannot stack VRAM so having more VRAM is very helpful. keep up the good work.

It is ok and all but honestly would rather just buy an RTX 4060 Ti 16gb instead which is only like 3% less performance than the 8gb variant of the 3070 and also in the long run it would still cost less since not many people would have a soldering iron/heat gun and you would have to still buy the memory.

Looks like the card has 12 memory positions but only 11 are populated. Do you know why that is? Would it be possible to add one more memory chip to get up to 24 GB (or in case of the 11GB version add another GB easily to get to 12?)

Did you have to modify the BIOS too or just the straps? I suspect you don't have to, since the configurations are there in it by default. There is another way of doing this mod which is modifying the vbios, but then I suspect you don't need the strap change, as the vbios overwrites the strap configuration.

I have a rx6800 that works in safe mode, but as soon as i install amd drivers it gives a black screen and it says the drivers are not compatible (in safe mode). Is that likely a hardware issue?

In GPU-Z (v2.16.0) everything is the same as this card except: Bus Interface: PCIe x16 3.0 @ x8 1.1 DirectX Support: 12 (12_1) [Running Windows 7 Pro] Pixel Fillrate: 136.0 Texture Fillrate: 420.2 Memory Type: GDDR6 (Micron) Boost: 1545 MHz The Boost is the only clock that is slower on my card. Does that account for the lower Fillrates? I don't know why it indicates PCIe @ x8 1.1, as the 2080 Ti is in the x16 slot. I'll have to double-check the BIOS. Also, DirectCompute 5.0 is _unchecked,_ whereas it is _checked_ on the GTX 770 that is also installed.
