- BMC performance high flow air filter washing kit. In this video I wash and oil this BMC air filter with the BMC washing kit. There are Six steps to this process and it takes a good 24-36hr to complete. After washing, you will need to let it dry out. This does take some time.
Six steps to follow;
1) Once the filter is removed, gently beat the polyurethane structure against a stiff surface to eliminate the largest impurities (grass, gravel, bugs, etc.), being careful not to damage the filtering element. Do not use compressed air as this can damage the cotton filter.
2) Position the filter on a container and pour the detergent (WADET500) on the filtering element, using about half the bottle and leave the detergent on for 20/30 minutes.
3) Rinse the filter thoroughly and very gently on both sides using water until the filtering element looks clean. The cotton that makes up the filtering element will not go back to being perfectly white, but it is enough to check against the light for the absence of any impurities or dirty oil residue.
4) Let the filter air dry without exposing it to direct sunlight: the filter is dry when it no longer releases any traces of water or dampness.
RE-APPLYING OIL TO THE BMC AIR FILTER USING THE BOTTLE (WAFLU250)
5) Using the oil, place the tip on the first pleat of the filtering element: proceed to re-apply oil only on one side of the filter, applying slight pressure to the bottle so as to make it easier for the oil to flow out (a continuous action is recommended in order to avoid any oil deposits).
6) Once the operation is finished, wait until the oil is completely absorbed, 30 mins - 1 hour; you can check this by verifying the evenness of the red colour from on one side and on the other of the filtering element. Dab the area with clean cotton cloth to eliminate any excess oil that may be left over on the polyurethane and on the support mesh.

I'd suggest apply the oil small amount at a time then coat it again once you see a dry spot.
I put too much oil in mine and its a mess. Waste alot of time for the excess oil to drain out.
How do you know which is the right kits? As you said they are different cheers
Hey, it’s just down to preference really, the other kit the oil comes in a spray can which is easier to apply as you just spray it on.

There is a kit with cleaner spray and oil spray... A lot of better work than this... Too much oil in the filter!
biggest piece of crap i ever bought!!!
after only 2 years and 20,000 km on the motorcycle, I wanted to clean it. ( That would be the first cleaning since I bought it )
When removing the filter from the housing, it literally disintegrated and fell into the smallest pieces.
