There is a story about how after Ryan beat him in the 400IM in London Michael had a crisis in confidence and how Nathan Aidrian got into Michael’s face and reminded him who he was. Ryan set the world record in that race and Michael didn’t make the podium. The fact that Michael Phelps had a confidence crisis because Lochte beat him tells you how much respect Michael had for Ryan because at that point nobody could ever make Michael think that low of himself.

Also, he has 5 of the top 10 times in his WR event, the 200 IM. The other 5 times are Phelps. Furthermore, Lochte has the fastest textile time ever in the 400 IM and is the fastest American ever (textile suit) in the 200 backstroke. 1. He was not charged with any crimes and wasn't even reprimanded for his actions.
    2. The way he initially lied about being the victim is just straight evil and malicious.
    3. It's nearly impossible to believe that he actually learned something from this situation after the obvious leniency he was given due to his status as an Olympic athlete.
