Hey Larry. No, there's no code on the height for a vanity light. It's all in what you buy that gets installed. Now if your installing a custom made picture framed mirror? The height and the light's distance out from the wall can play a big part to fitting right. Those types of mirrors 🤔 I leave a wire loop in the wall for installing an old work round box at trim out. I've been working with this contractor for about 6+ years now and he's always installed premade sheet mirror from the box stores. 12½" down on an 8' high ceiling and 24½" down on a 9' high ceiling. The spacing has always worked out. Now that I'm saying this the next one might be wrong ...lol 😆

Don't use builders vanity light because people do not like design and they get rust use a modern vanity light fixture.
