You only use it against throws to dish out serious damage, as opposed to teching it normally

In the corner, if you jump to escape a throw, you put yourself in a situation where you will always get autotimed DP'd after the fact. And if you jump straight up or forward out of it, there's an OS where the DP comes out on both sides. Not to mention, the followup puts you right back within throw range to potentially get looped back into it again, INCLUDING if you opted to jump out of the corner-- so you're always just gonna get throw looped.
If you are taking a risk of getting meatied in the corner but you want to escape a throw attempt, opt for backdash instead of jump because you recover way faster. You can also do a rising attack too with some characters like Juri or air special like Cammy or Chun.
