The right click, dash, right click melee is a good insta-kill combo if you are dropping onto a support like zenyatta or ana. You dash onto the ground you you end up infront of them, then you can right click melee them at point blank range.
Shouldn't it be shift, right click, melee? You can animation cancel the rightclick with a melee so it's pretty much throwing another 3 shurikens into that combo.
you (almost) always rightclick before a dash to deal 24-48 more dmg. after that you dash to get close to your target and normaly you melee to deal consistant 30 dmg after that you can find your target properly and start rightlcicking. ofc. You can start throwing your rightclick and then melee the problem is in a lot of situations when you dash you end up in a spot where you proper can't see your target, in that situation rightclicking is a waste of both time and ammo. Insted you are a lot of the time gonna melee (since that almost always lands) and then you get a better posision where you can consistent land rightclicks on your target :) if the oppertunity arrives ofc you can always do a right click if you are in a good spot :)
Well yes, but there is a strong delay before you can attack after a dash which you can use to line up a right click, and setting up the shift into a rightclick is another part of being good at Genji. You can always rightclick before a melee. You can't waste time with the rightclick if your going to melee because the right click can be animation cancelled immediately by the melee. Ammo isn't too big of a deal with Genji. Lining up the right click immediately after a shift is super good if you can land it considering your almost always in pointblank range to hit 3 shurikens. Melee has a huge delay after that compared to consecutive rightclicks as well, you can line up and aim shots in the delay time if your good enough, but if you melee you have to wait a serious a mount of time before you can right click again.
yeah ive been using right click shift melee after i heard shadder saying its a better combo but i think shift rightclick melee is better , if u look at shadowburn he barely uses melee after shift he allways goes for flick right click
As I said the combos are used in diffrent situations, one deals more dmg however takes more time and can be less consistant, one is more consistant and takes less time to pull off but puts out less dmg.
Shellah Fellah, I agree with you. I always go for the left/right click, shift, right click+melee combo unless they're really low, then I go for just the melee. I'm in high diamond right now and I do have problems with consistency of getting the right click right after the dash though. I have a lot of problems lining up my right click, and just losing my target in general. I spin around, can't see them and by the time I find them it's too late. I'd appreciate any tips you'd have on lining up the shot like you explained above. Cheers
if you swift strike into your enemy and melee, but just as you melee pull out your dragon blade and you will be able to one shot with your dragon blade. the animation of pulling out your sword cancels the melee but you still deal the melee damage
+Lord Lichius Yeah I'm aware, and things like that would be very helpful to put in the video. Since the dragonblade is something msot genji's struggle with.
You forgot one thing... If you are super close and you really trust your aim you can try a 1 burst combo...and yes this works...it required extreme precision though...throw a burst of three shurrikens at the head of an enemy (horizontal fire) then dash...if you land them all right on target you will have yourself a free kill.. Note:- This only works on heroes with 200 HP or less so don't take on a reaper with a zen orb just cuz he is standing still behind a door scanned by a hanzo arrow just cuz you think you can finish him off before he can react xD
Thank God, even pro Genji's dont hit all of the shurikens everytime XD I have set myself a goal to headshot, shift any enemie I meet, which I obviously fail pretty frequently, so yeah this cheered me up xD
hi ☺ i subbed and i uze theses combis everyday but someplayers dint know them. i find it cool you explained them. but there is other ones (depends on who youre fighting) you left click. deflect. remove animation with slash and right click melee. it confuses the enemy or if youre good even finishes him off
I get why you say you should not right click into melee unless you are going to kill I would do the same until recent. But after watching Whoru i realized it is good to melee alot as it serves a couple purposes. Firstly of course it saves a lot of ammunition but most importantly it allows you to track your opponent while focusing on your movement as the melee gives you guaranteed damage and does not require much aim you can move while doing it and track your opponent so you land your next set of stars of course you are stuck in the animation and can not deflect/swift strike which can leave you exposed, but I feel it helps with both constant damage and allowing you to be evasive. I like it especially against a soldier who is in a healing station.
Remember that this is a video on dmg combos, not how to deal dmg with genji. This is a guide on how to run sets of combos (abilities, melee and shurkiens) to deal high consistant dmg in a very short, to either get advantages in a 1v1 or to killsecure faster. But very good input :)
What about right click then deflect to bait out hook or flash which can be effective I've seen top genji's do this to tempt enemy's into firing back to avoid taking damage Idk
I have said this before: I can't cover every singel combo posibility, the combos can change from situation to situation. A genji with a diffrent playstyle then mine might not like the combos I use because I use my combos for my playstyle. This video was to list the basic combos and start adding some more "spice/advanced" stuff into to try to show players that wasn't as good/wanted to improve their genji how dmg combos in generel work. The combo you descipe is very normal when you get cought 1on1 with a hog.
Isn't the hole combo Right Click ---> Swift Strike ---> Rightclick ---> Melee. Im generally confused because I've seen a lot of pros just rightclick swift strike and melee but they do it so fast that you cant see if they snuck a rightclick before the melee.
Well that depens on who you are attacking, how much time you have and how much dmg you need to put out. Without headshots that dmg combo deals up to 248 dmg. and if you land 1 headshot insted of 3 bodyshots on your first right click you still do over 200 dmg. However doing it like that does take longer time to "cast the combo" than if you didn't use rightclick after SS. :) the combos differ from sitaustion to sitaution ^^ but good question. hopes this answers it :)
Any suggestions for controller settings on console? I got: Jump LT Deflect RB Primary RT Secondary RIght thumb stick Never left thumb stick I can't seem to Combo with the Melee cuz settings are awkward
I have a better one so you Right click (head)Melee(head or body) then u finish it with swift strike then u get the swift strike reset and u can continue.
Do u play on console or this is pc Personally i think genji is strong but i don't get how to combo and if i do i don't hit my ss or my shiruken and everytime i use my ult i lost the sight of my target or the damage doesn't count where it should have hit
I play on pc, I don't belive there are any overwatch teams on consol (that playes pro or semi-pro). It's all about pratice. You need to pratice to get good :)
No, the melee trick is incorrect. Melee is much better at close range instead of throwing a shuriken also knowing there usa chance of missing. Every single time you right click up close melee, it maximizes dps.
I don't know why, but you remind me of a RUclipsr that plays a game called Team Fortress 2. He also gives off tips for the game and how to play it. Search up MrPaladin if you wanna see his videos.
Jonal hype!
ohnickel thank you for helping me find this channel!!💯
My name is Jonal, ohJonal :P
I like how at 3:12 when he got hooked by the roadhog he just accepted his fate and just looked at tab thing but he survived
That video was actually pretty good
I know now that I shouldn't spam melee anymore when I'm out of ammo f.e.
Another nice video Jonal 👍
I am French and I have some difficulties to understand but you are very pedagogical and your videos are useful.
Do you plan to use automatic jumps on walls with Genji? (Also available on Hanzo)
Equaaz not really. Auto climb normally isn't necessary, & probably harder to control. You're better off manually climbing.
The right click, dash, right click melee is a good insta-kill combo if you are dropping onto a support like zenyatta or ana. You dash onto the ground you you end up infront of them, then you can right click melee them at point blank range.
I love these videos, lot of tips, tricks and helpful things, definitely will help me to play genji better^^ keep up the good work
Thanks mate :)

for a new vid a genji ult guide wouldn't go amiss. or maybe just tacking it into a new genji vid with that included
great video you deff need mor subs!
Thank you :)
TheNeonCloud
This was soooooooo helpful! Thank you!!!!!!!
I love you Jonal!
Love you too :*
you can do also right click and deflect
I think it would of been worth mentioning that you can slash your dragonblade and swift strike at the same time for an easy 170 damage.
MasterTahir LordofNoobs To secure a kill, you can Swift Strike, use Dragonblade, slash once and then use the dash given when you activate the Ult.
+Lord Lichius Yeah I'm aware, and things like that would be very helpful to put in the video. Since the dragonblade is something msot genji's struggle with.
Oh, so there are a lot of genjis who struggle with dragonblade beside me...
Dash+melee+Dragonblade slice=dead 200hp hero
Primary fire
Dash
Alternate fire
Melee
-killer combo your welcome
A better combo is to right click swift strike right click melee so the right click gets cancelled by the melee which deals mor damage

I like to do left click, swift strike, and the fan-meelee at medium range
Thank God, even pro Genji's dont hit all of the shurikens everytime XD
I have set myself a goal to headshot, shift any enemie I meet, which I obviously fail pretty frequently, so yeah this cheered me up xD

Very helpful video
what about swift strike right-click melee?
It's basically the reverse version of the old combo (right-click melee swift strike)
Wait what? I thought u were a lucio main? It seems u are a flexible player :D
OmG that hello sounded like genji no joke
almost diamond partially thanks to you! Thanks man
Nice congrats man :) glad to help ^^
nice.

what if you go through your enemy with swift strike and can't hit melee because you're too far away?
Then you did something wrong, always dash onto them in an angel if you can't dash straight
What about right click then deflect to bait out hook or flash which can be effective
I've seen top genji's do this to tempt enemy's into firing back to avoid taking damage

Fair enough, good video btw
OHNICKEL!
im good genji.....but i still suck at playing battle mercy
Boby Bogdan lol
Boby Bogdan try flanking her slowly so youre sure to hit at leat 1-2 shurikens, then just shuriken dash melee combo.
Isn't the hole combo Right Click ---> Swift Strike ---> Rightclick ---> Melee. Im generally confused because I've seen a lot of pros just rightclick swift strike and melee but they do it so fast that you cant see if they snuck a rightclick before the melee.

LikeAnd Boss Korean Genji's like Haksal and Whoru use the combo that you are talking about. The others use the normal one.
why rmb-dash-meele & not dash-rmb-meele?
does genji resets his dash with ANY kill?... or kills made with the dash?
Any suggestions for controller settings on console? I got:
Jump LT
Deflect RB
Primary RT
Secondary RIght thumb stick
Never left thumb stick
I can't seem to Combo with the Melee cuz settings are awkward
Sorry man, I don't play on consol :/
Jonal Gaming console*
Your button layout is very weird
Danial Nadeem LT is very nice on defelect
incredible feedback, thanks!!!
you missed the strongest combo... dash + 2 shuriken + melee

It's all about pratice. You need to pratice to get good :)
Jonal Gaming how to fkin practice when everygame u play u get against pharmercy fffffs
quickplay and custom games and learn to pratice against phara mercy
I would think left click, shift, right click, melee would be the most effective. I don't play Genji though.
I think genji vs roadhog is really strobg
0:30 did you just try to deflect a zarya beam?
naw, it was more about deflect any burst dmg coming from top room, like a helix rocket.
why use a 30 dmg melee to secure kills when you can secure kills with a 50 dmg swift strike
If you’re securing kills with melee you probs don’t have ss
I do swift strike right click melee,is that good?
ye that can work, normaly sending a shurikan while you dash is good
No, the melee trick is incorrect. Melee is much better at close range instead of throwing a shuriken also knowing there usa chance of missing. Every single time you right click up close melee, it maximizes dps.
