My a7r2 will be delivered tomorrow. I currently have an a6100 and shoot motocross as a hobby. I started 11 weeks ago (yes, you read that right) and was asked to photograph one of the guys’ weddings because he was on a budget. I just got married two weeks ago and I felt that struggle, so I told them I’d shoot the wedding for free (obviously… I STARTED 11 WEEKS AGO?! 😂) It’s 3 states away, they’re paying for our travel, AND covering our stay for 5 DAYS.. not just the 5 hour wedding/reception. So I bought the camera body (after an intense amount of research on specs/what was within my budget) and this just solidified everything I was hoping for for their wedding.
My first exposure was canon 80D. (I believe most people started with Canikon). Then i upgraded to mirorless which is A7iii. This decision was because of Sigma lens choice & canon RF lens dont allow third party
@@whosjozikolnik yeah. RF lenses cost fortune. Sigma especially Art lenses are worth buying. Not to mention there’s plethora of it like Samyang, & Tamron. Even G-Master lines still cheaper a bit than RF lenses

When I got my first "professional" camera I went with Nikon because my father already owned a ton of lenses I could use so it was a no brainer. So far I am very happy with it (D7500) and have taken lots of photos with it. My first DSLR however was a Canon 1100D including two kit lenses. Its quality wasn`t great but it really taught me how to properly use a DSLR.
Real photographers shoot on whatever manufacturer they want, because real photographers will get a nice shot no matter the camera. Plus, I'm not a Sony fanboy. I have almost every camera manufacturer in my collection, except for Canon (they are pricy, hope I'll get one some day)
Nikon 1 J1 was my first interchangeable lens camera, then I went Nikon d5300 and then stumbled on Olympus. Still with Olympus years later. E-M1X and EM-5 mark ii. Love them
I shoot both, I prefer the particular cameras over a certain brand. I don't care as long as I have the features I want at the price point I'm comfortable with and I like the image quality. I don't give a crap about brand.

I wouldn’t shoot with a Sony but many in the fashion field in NY and Paris do work with it. I don’t particularly like the feel of them. It has this consumer-level local energy. But others do. To each bis or her own.
I used to own a canon rebel t7 but didn't like it for many years until I bought a sony a6400 w/two lenses from tamron and sigma!! Definitely worth the money imo
Through my years of digital cameras I've used Canon, Nikon, Fuji and Sony. I sticked with Sony because it was the only decent fullframe mirrorless system at the time and because I'm a big fan of the Zeiss Batis lenses their look. I'm still rocking the a7ii after all this time. I'll only upgrade it when it stops working.
Sony is so good I’ve never needed to upgrade from my ancient NEX7 24 MP aps c camera. The first professional level compact mirrorless. You can get them second hand for BUTTONS … or around £150. Cost me almost £900 it was £1,200 when first released.
Sony makes very good cameras. The last camera made by Nikon worth buying was the F2. I also shoot Canon because my first camera was a Canon ftb.. I am in the process of moving to the Hasselblad X2D. Ive bought the body and am saving for lenses. No serious photographer shoots video.
I like Sony, Nikon, Canon, Leica and Hasselblad digital cameras. Canon DSLRs are the best mainly because you can covert nearly every existing vintage lens or otherwise to EF mount. I am highly disappointed by mirrorless systems for about 1000 reasons.
Yeah, real professional love being stuck with camera systems that don’t have a selection of High resolution, low light performance or a middle ground sensors, they don’t care about same redundant card slots, and a poor choice of customisation options, nor do they like the batteries to be modern and last a long time, not to mention proprietary lens mounts so you can’t choose any other brand for your lens👌🏻 Very pro
I shot with Canon professionally for 20 years... I've now been a happy Sony shooter for almost 4 years. No regrets whatsoever. That being said i love all the arguments over trivial crap like af and color science. I shot pro sports with film and manual focus. Get a camera and practice. Doesn't matter if it's a 100mp, a 12mp or a film camera from 1960. The person behind it is what matters.
Sony has built in obsoleteness.... autofocus just stops working properly after a year or 2. And it worsens pretty fast. I will never buy a sony camera again.. i know several people who owned different sony cameras (i did too) and all had that issue within the first 2-3 years of use. Nobody buys a sony again.
Nikon and it’s mount dimensions (55mm diameter) allows engineers to manufacture the highest rated lenses. That’s why when Zeiss makes the SAME exact lens for Nikon and Sony the end result is the Nikon version is rated higher than the Sony or Canon or Fuji. Check DXO mark for the results. Sonys (46.1mm) weakest link is the diameter of the lens mount is one of the smallest among all 35mm systems.
I mean each company finds ways to one up each other… Sony has the most accessible lens options with their e mounts, canon allows backward compatibility with its older mounts to balance the high cost of its RF mounts. Nikon has been years behind until very recently but may find a way to one up if they can incorporate RED tech into their cameras properly. Not to mention even the smaller brands have great capable cameras
What matters is you like your camera and enjoy using it. No need to badmouth other brands just for the sake of promoting the camera brand you use(and sponsors you). I just bought my first DSLR and it's a second hand Nikon D5500, and didn't think twice about what brand I should buy 😂. I plan on buying a D50 just to have a vintage feel on the photos I will capture😂
I shoot Nikon and I don’t really get the hate towards Nikon. The lenses are amazing and the z8 and z9 are excellent camera’s. I get that Nikon didn’t invest enough into their AF but those problems are mainly software related and keep getting better. I started out with canon 15 years ago and decided to switch to Nikon because i liked the look of the photos a lot more and it suited my style of editing a lot better. I than switched to mirrorless and decided to stay with Nikon, i do have to say i’ve was thinking about switching to Sony but i’m glad i stayed with Nikon. It’s always the amateur photographers i’ve noticed that are extremely brand loyal and bash other brands. Every other professional photographer i know doesn’t care about the brand they just want the best tool to get work done. The only reason amateurs bash other brands is because that’s a way for themselves to justify the 20k lens kit they bought over the years. 😂
Sony has the best options for aftermarket lenses etc. if you shoot once a week I would still go Sony if your bring in crazy money with your photos I guess a cannon makes sense but it’s like snapon vs harbor freight. Harbor freight has great quality and warrantee but struggles against a pro tool. Know your needs and shop accordingly
I use Canon (EOS 250D) and was a BIG Canon fanboy, to the point where if someone asked me what Camera I recommend them, I would point them towards a Canon, but after getting a Sony phone (Xperia 1 V), I do like both and do want to try shooting with a Sony, especially because my phone would work really well with a Sony Camera.
Each brand has his own color rendition. Really depends on people. I shoot Nikon but I admit Canon colors are sometimes more pleasant on some subjects (but not necessarily closer to the reality...). This is for my photographic usage the most important difference. Will never shoot Sony because of that. Other people may focus on other aspects (autofocus, fps, ergonomy,...)
It's become a huge hobby of mine and have a few cameras. No professional or anything close to that but love it and I was given a Sony alpha by my friends dad, and I still take it alot feel like it's how well you know ur equipment not the brand
now for general photography, almost every camera since 2015 is good enough tough unless you are getting paid for it it's nice having a better camera depending on the nishe
Gear doesnt matter half as much as having the eye, opportunity, and skill to capture a moment artistically. Go get what you can afford and make it work. Don't follow what gear snobs or anyone else tries to tell you.
As someone who owns about $5000 worth of Nikon gear, I can confidently say that currently ANY mainstream camera platform will give you killer bang for your bucks, even Sony and Fuji. The only people who still rant about Nikon and Canon being better are older pros from the film era who didn't catch up with technology.
Lol! I'm a serious photographer and I shoot on the a7iii or iv. See my bank account for details. Sony, has helped level up my game more so than Canon over the years. I shot DSLR with Canon for years. Never got recognition from them.
I shoot with an A7 series after years of Nikon. No regrets. Oh, and my NEX-7 still takes fantastic photos. You do you. The camera doesn’t make the photographer.
2 years ago, my mom’s company bought a canon eos 6d mark ii for video. My mom recommended my mom’s company a sony A7iii (both have same price) but they chose canon instead Sony A7iii video is far superior than canon 6d mark ii but many chose canon because they still thought that canon is better at everything, except, that statement is only true in 10 years ago
I Shoot Nikon and Fuji. I have friends that shoot with Sony but they are Hybrid shooters so they do a fair balance of Video and stills, hence why they shoot Sony. All the camera brands, even Lumix or Panasonic are rocking it. Choose what works best for you and go have fun folks.
from where I am, 90% of professionals use sony now including myself. thos who uses canon are the ones who invested on lens back in the 5D era (yes they use adaptor for r6 and r5) but still, they wish they had a sony.
I am just about to finish my year on a boarding school. The school also has Cameras they allow you to use for projects and the first real digital camera I ever used was the NIKON Gh-5 . Amazing camera?!!!!! I instantly went to buy a Canon eos 250D to learn more about photography in my free time and today I’m switching to the Sony a7III for the low light capabilities and intention of shooting video with it
Love my Canon DSLRs. They are indestructible work horse cameras. But, I switched to Sony a few years ago as they were the leader in mirrorless tech. Now everyone is going that route, which is great, and the cameras are phenomenal. But Sony, in my completely unsolicited option, still maintains the edge. Keep in mind Sony is also a major motion picture production company, with advancements in video technology that Canon, Nikon, Fuji, etc have never been able to touch.
I am NEVER using Cannon again after using the 80D. Sure it worked for Photos... However, the HDMI output had an overlay "white frame in the video" that couldn't be disabled. Then on top of that, to use it as a webcam, they want you to pay a subscription for their PC app. Junk/Scammers
I UNDERSTAND HIM. Canon 5D mII was my 1st camera. It turned me into a Canon fanboy. But after 5D miii, Canon snoozed and made no new good camera. That's when SONY took over.
A mount Zeiss lenses were amazing. SLT was clearly ahead of its time. A99 was a 40mp beast. A7 (R&S especially) were way ahead of the curve. I knew so many people picking up Sony NEX and adapting crazy lenses from day one (me included).
I don't care about brand. I care about the composition and low light capture capability ease of transferring and editing. I started with Minolta and then Pentax in DSLR, then 5D because of the lenses I owned. After that a Canon 70D for video. And, now Canon R5C for 8K video gigs. I sometimes use Song A7 series.
I subscribe to a rather well know photographer who shoots Sony and his results are fantastic. So your comment is incorrect to say the least. I've shot with Canon, Nikon, & Sony and have obtained wonderful results with each so it isn't so much the system you use but the person using the system.
I work as a photographer and a videographer and all the "real" photographers I know use either Nikon, Canon or Sony for photos. For videos most of them use either Panasonic, Canon, Sony or Blackmagic.
I have a sony a6400. I already have a tamron 70-200 f2.8 lens and a sigma c f1.4 30mm lens + kit lens(yuck). My next step would have been a sigma a 24-70 f2.8 for portraits n stuff since I will shoot many of those soon. Annd after that at some point i would like to go with the sony a 7mk4 or whatever is new then... But your vids have sparked doubt in this plan...
Ex Canon shooter who owned a Canon 400D, 40D, 7D then 5Dmkiii. What made me start to ditch canon was when I bought the Sony A7mk1 back in 2013... It's history from there... Lol
Well as much as i loved my reliable canon gear and got a lot of incredible glass for my 7d mk2 and 5d mk4 ..it never reached my expectations...in 2019 i moved to fujifilm and got the xpro2 with a manual 50mm and the 18-55 for x mount. That little camera helped me to create better photos by the flexibility of it ,sharp glass ,good af ,incredible dynamic range and superior iso performance.
Serious photographers use whatever camera will get the best results for the job. Listening to random RUclipsrs making bold statements is the worst move anyone starting out can do.
Tbh I’m not a biased photographer but I’ve noticed that most amateurs flock to canon and Sony and bash brands like Nikon and Pentax. I originally started with an off brand digicam from Amazon (I got better at the basics and realized how much rubbish it was. Afterwards, I switched over to the Nikon d60 I use (only reason I’m not switching is because of those amazing ccd colors it gives). As for right now I have an iPhone with a Sony sensor (I guess you can say I’ve used all the big brands as I also have a canon point and shoot from ‘02 which has neutral quality). I mainly use my iPhone camera as a backup in case the shot I want takes too much time to setup my D60. But I can certainly say that it’s only amateurs/some hobbyists that are really biased (especially content creators). At the end of the day, if you’re the pro photographer you claim to be, chances are you’re outside getting those beautiful photos, not making videos that are extremely biased with Sony or Nikon sponsorships.

This decision was because of Sigma lens choice & canon RF lens dont allow third party
exactly! everyone who wants quality but doesn't have at least $10k spare money Sony makes the most sense. bro is full of bs
@@whosjozikolnik yeah. RF lenses cost fortune. Sigma especially Art lenses are worth buying. Not to mention there’s plethora of it like Samyang, & Tamron. Even G-Master lines still cheaper a bit than RF lenses
yeah i started with the 80D and switched to the A7riii mirrorless, and not the cannon system because it is so expensive. sony have been around longer too so used lenses are actually available and cheap

Photography isn’t about wht camera you use … it’s more about the skills
When I got my first "professional" camera I went with Nikon because my father already owned a ton of lenses I could use so it was a no brainer. So far I am very happy with it (D7500) and have taken lots of photos with it. My first DSLR however was a Canon 1100D including two kit lenses. Its quality wasn`t great but it really taught me how to properly use a DSLR.
Real photographers shoot on whatever manufacturer they want, because real photographers will get a nice shot no matter the camera.
Plus, I'm not a Sony fanboy. I have almost every camera manufacturer in my collection, except for Canon (they are pricy, hope I'll get one some day)
i started with sony a6400
but I'm using a fuji x-e1, yes a 10 year old camera over sony a6400. ' cause I love the shooting experience it gives.
Same.
Im trying to find a cheap one. But yeah, will be my first camera.
Nikon 1 J1 was my first interchangeable lens camera, then I went Nikon d5300 and then stumbled on Olympus. Still with Olympus years later. E-M1X and EM-5 mark ii. Love them
I feel offended i have canon but i prefer sony all the way ❤
I shoot both, I prefer the particular cameras over a certain brand. I don't care as long as I have the features I want at the price point I'm comfortable with and I like the image quality. I don't give a crap about brand.
@@joshuahoggard583 I think we need to focus on the quality and the features, I have film and digital camera canon helps with manual sony for home and family photo and video ,its what you get end of the day to keep the memories alive. I mean for personal use , for clients what ever get the job done . Right!
You just throw away the chance to be sponsor by Sony. Not smart at all.
Everyone always forgets about little old Pentax
Damn, the first part really hurt me because my first and only camera is sony cybershot (dsc h9 - 8MP)
I started with a cybershot too 💪🏼💪🏼
I, owning many Minolta lenses, had to stick with Sony. I'm so glad that I did.
I was like…oooh he just got the Sony crowd mad, then saw how you spun that. Good clip!
I wouldn’t shoot with a Sony but many in the fashion field in NY and Paris do work with it. I don’t particularly like the feel of them. It has this consumer-level local energy. But others do. To each bis or her own.
How are panasonic cameras?
amazing i have a S5II
Nikon is the best. Many people don't understand, but 16 years as a photographer, I'm sticking to Nikon. Badass dynamic range on Nikon.
Bruh did the commenters not watch the video lmao, he’s saying that Sony used to be shit but nowadays every camera company has great cameras
He didn't say it like that no way
He's trying to rage bait so hard he deserves the backlash
I used to own a canon rebel t7 but didn't like it for many years until I bought a sony a6400 w/two lenses from tamron and sigma!! Definitely worth the money imo
OG Panasonic LUMIX Left the chat :-(
lumix is making some dope shit right now, sadly its not that popular
@@thundii not talking about present you have read my comment properly
Through my years of digital cameras I've used Canon, Nikon, Fuji and Sony.
I sticked with Sony because it was the only decent fullframe mirrorless system at the time and because I'm a big fan of the Zeiss Batis lenses their look.
I'm still rocking the a7ii after all this time. I'll only upgrade it when it stops working.
I started with canon and still with it
Sony is so good I’ve never needed to upgrade from my ancient NEX7 24 MP aps c camera. The first professional level compact mirrorless. You can get them second hand for BUTTONS … or around £150. Cost me almost £900 it was £1,200 when first released.
poor canon boy!
my first dslr was nikon, then tried canon, and now shooting both
Is it because you're sponsored by Canon? Or I am missing something?
Yep you missed the entire video my man
Sony makes very good cameras. The last camera made by Nikon worth buying was the F2. I also shoot Canon because my first camera was a Canon ftb.. I am in the process of moving to the Hasselblad X2D. Ive bought the body and am saving for lenses. No serious photographer shoots video.
Man Pentax is never mentioned :(
People with Pentaxes are too busy making photos to be on RUclips all the time 😉
@@geronimo3752facts 💪
I like Sony, Nikon, Canon, Leica and Hasselblad digital cameras. Canon DSLRs are the best mainly because you can covert nearly every existing vintage lens or otherwise to EF mount. I am highly disappointed by mirrorless systems for about 1000 reasons.
Bro always leaving Panasonic out
Great cameras!
That's the honest truth.
Most brands are just good now , it all boils down to your editing skills
A7ii for ever
A9iii what
Yeah, real professional love being stuck with camera systems that don’t have a selection of High resolution, low light performance or a middle ground sensors, they don’t care about same redundant card slots, and a poor choice of customisation options, nor do they like the batteries to be modern and last a long time, not to mention proprietary lens mounts so you can’t choose any other brand for your lens👌🏻 Very pro
You forgot the best Brand Leica
Bro... 6k for a prime that you can't change...
No professional or anything close to that but love it and I was given a Sony alpha by my friends dad, and I still take it alot feel like it's how well you know ur equipment not the brand
now for general photography, almost every camera since 2015 is good enough tough
unless you are getting paid for it it's nice having a better camera depending on the nishe
Brother please tell me which audio recording device you use in your videos
Your voice and words feels very clear
There's photographers that even hide the logo of the company because they just care about lens and end result 😅
True,fr like who uses Sony cameras to shoot pics? They are used for cinematography. (I am a huge Sony fan. I own the PS5 so I’m not a hater)
I shoot with an A7 series after years of Nikon. No regrets. Oh, and my NEX-7 still takes fantastic photos. You do you. The camera doesn’t make the photographer.
2 years ago, my mom’s company bought a canon eos 6d mark ii for video. My mom recommended my mom’s company a sony A7iii (both have same price) but they chose canon instead
Sony A7iii video is far superior than canon 6d mark ii but many chose canon because they still thought that canon is better at everything, except, that statement is only true in 10 years ago
I agree with the statement if we were talking about their pro level video cameras the canon vixia is a much better camera than the Sony handycam
“ Photographers dont shoot sony” blood starts boiling
from where I am, 90% of professionals use sony now including myself. thos who uses canon are the ones who invested on lens back in the 5D era (yes they use adaptor for r6 and r5) but still, they wish they had a sony.
It's really up to the person who wants to use any camera brand be it Sony or whatever
The brand doesn’t matter, it’s the photographer’s role to take good photos.
In my day it was 620 or 35mm film B&W or KodaChrome. There was no consumer Video only 8mm. Class of '62 Bro.
I’m not a serious photographer. Very lighthearted.
I love that people just see the beginning and instantly go to the comments. Watch it in it's entirety before you say something, it's just a minute.
Nor do they shoot canon. They go for Leica or Fuji
See can be said about your brand too
I subscribe to a rather well know photographer who shoots Sony and his results are fantastic.
Just got a Sony and the auto focus is insane.
Lol
Pentax quietly sitting there, flapping the mirror.
Koolmac and Nickinthecutt. 2 GREAT photographers who use Sony .
