I wouldn't call Soldier Boy a villain. His goal is to get revenge on those who betrayed him. Pretty much any man whose worth his salt would have the same ambitions if they suffered from a similar series of events.
As for killing homelander, that's a blessing for the world. So that's something that makes him good. People who say he's a bad guy do so because they can't get past their modern sensibiltiies. Specifically regarding the fact that Soldier Boy used to discipline his team with violence.
But if you truly want to understand his actions, then you have to understand that Soldier Boy has the mentality of a soldier, and not some modern they/them tiktok soldier but an old school killl or be killed kind of soldier. It was his entire persona, and he lived up to it. Back in the day, if someone in the unit you were in command of mouthed off to you or disobeyed orders, you would hit them with the butt of your rifle stock.
So, in all fairness, he's just living up to the era he was raised in. Which isn't a bad thing, in fact I'd argue the world needs more men like Soldier Boy, or at least Western Civilization.@@Pioneer5118

@@safcjoe7062 The phrase talks about how during bad times, circumstances forces men to get "stronger" and thanks to those men we get better and easier times which makes "weaker" men because of how "easy" their lives are.
A problem with this quote is what YOU consider "strong" and "weak". Not to mention, bad times not only creates "strong men", it makes BROKEN men. Damaged men who make the bad times come back. The "weaker" men the good times create usually refers to disrespectful and spoiled men which you will find in any time be it good or bad. Good times also create peaceful and respectful men.
