Loved this video, Keith. Thanks for putting it together. You're a true fisherman...No cares about making it look fancy for other people to admire, just whatever it takes to get out there and catch fish. Good luck the rest of this season.
Love it man. I had an old Lund S14 that my grandpa bought new in 1976, handed down to my dad, and then to me when I turned 16. Several years back I remodeled that thing to make a bad ass little 14 footer. This kinda stuff really hits home with me, cause like you said the pride you have when fishing out of the boat makes it all worth while. Cool project.
1720 Duracraft 17 ft. All welded, rated for 90 hp motor, 6 degreee V bottom. Built like a tank and the sponsons on either side of the transom is the best thing you could have ever done! Fished out of one of those boats for 24 years and that thing is bulletproof! Great job Keith!!
KP. I don't view many og the Pro sites, but you're a true country boy. MY kinda guy. I'll be back for more. Enjoyed listening to you. Best of luck with your career, & Hod Bless. From an an ole (76+) fishing country boy from NE Texas.
Definitely like the aluminum smaller bass boats. I'm a kayak angler. One of my favorite strengths of fishing from a yak are getting into places alot other people cant all I need is a trail I can walk down & I can cart my kayak in there. Have found ton of small ponds, lakes that I fish I've never seen anyone else at because their not willing to do work to get there. If I ever got a actual boat it would b a small aluminum for sure. Your boat is awesome, way cooler than big fancy bass boat in my book!!!
Hey, had to check out your boat due to a discussion about limiting boat size in the opens. After watching, I would run with you anywhere. I fish out of a small boat. There is a passion to setting up the boat and learning to down size. Plus it takes maybe six minutes longer to get somewhere and the gas savings…unbelievable.
Keith , I met you last fall early am getting fuel during hurricanes . I was with the power company . You are real as they get man . You come up north sometime , I got you
Bro you got my sub... I'm a fishing head and a tackle junkie, was watching some fishing vids and stumbled across your off the grid video when you and your friends almost sunk the boat, after that I watched all your videos back to back I was stuck, being watched like my favorite shows now its 3:50am and have to get up at 6am for work. Love the content, and your channel keep them coming bud, I love the off grid beaver damn jumping... lol your crazy dude bro..
Really enjoyed this video, I can relate to it. Guys who haven't rebuilt an old boat into something they like and want, will never be able to understand. Winning comps against rigs that are 20 or 40 times the value - priceless 🤣🤣🤣 Congrats on your Open win!!!
Man I loved my Duracraft all-welded. Acutually hit a full tree floating out in the lake in a night tournament and still made it 10 miles back to the ramp as the boat sunk onto the boat trailer.
Back when I was a kid around 1965 we had this old wood flat bottom fishing boat and it leaked pretty bad . Bailing it out was my job. My daddy ordered a fiberglass kit from Herters catalog and he spent most of one summer covering that thing. When it was done it didn't leak a drop and we had one of the nicest boats in that part of the country at that time. We thought we was hottest thing since sliced bread in that boat I tell you ! People just don't realize how good we have it these days
People underestimate aluminum boats these days......that is a sweet boat!!! ....Never been in the shop just forgot to put a few screws back in....😂.. Awesome video keep em coming!!
I commend you for this and I pray one day I will have time to fix mine for me and my 2.5 year old twin boys. I work 14-15hr swing shift, my wife works the same place but opposite shift as me so it's work/boys/work/boys/wife/work/boys etc, and on top of that both my parents have had quadruple bypass surgery in the last 6 months so supporting them in their time of need is there as well. It's so hard to get time to do anything and ol girl just sits there waiting for me. It hurts to see my project sitting there day in day out when I work from dark to dark and I don't have the time or energy to get it done. Thanks for the awesome video detail man have a great season!!
I love the boat Keith! My dad and I built one like that a long time ago! I met you at the Okeechobee tournament on day 2 at take off. I was Pete Ponds marshal. We were all sitting there telling lies!! LOL Good luck at Smith Brother!!
That’s cool,I did the same with my 1985 Pro Craft rebuilt it from top to bottom, was an awesome river boat. Looking forward to to the vids , Nice Job.🤙🏽
Very nice rig you built there... I would call it the ultimate river fishing boat... would love to have something like that for fishing the Mississippi river in Minnesota
dang u got that thing kitted out looks great, I'm 16 now and have been into fishing for the past few years these ponds I go to usually near my house are being poisoned by the people that own the land and so the fish are dying. I'm looking for a boat cheap that i can build up myself. what u got here looks exactly what I need to do thanks for the inspiration.
I literally just want a John boat and trick it out to get in back water places on my body of water. Places I can access others can’t I find that fun. Let alone you might figure something out that you can get a full sized boat through but you wouldn’t figure that out because you’ll too afraid to do it with a full size. Love the boat man this is cool
When my dads 115 tower of power fell of the back of our VIP my dad said “son, when you buy a boat buy you of them big aluminum boats.” It was 1987. The VIP was 15’. Fiberglass degrades over time. Aluminum. Last a lifetime. I did what daddy said. Aluminum boat is just like a house, you can redo it, upgrade your power your electronics etc. Only way to go. Especially if you don’t live in Florida!!!
Keith, I'm in the process of getting my 1985 skeeter starfire with a mercury black max 150 running. Of course it's fiberglass but I'm enjoying working on it. In the process of adding new gauges and a hydraulic steering system. 🎣🐟
I had a Ranger 198p. I didn’t feel like it was durable enough to do what Keith does. Accessing really hard to get areas . So I recently went back to fiberglass.
I too have an old aluminum boat and go places much like you. Fish saltwater and freshwater out if it, sure I have a bass boat also but there are places I will not put my bass boat.
I love that rig Keith, you should be proud of your work! I'm from TN, currently living in extreme southern AR. I love chasing smallmouth in the upper end of the French Broad, Holston and Clinch rivers! Now that's some shallow water! Most use jets up there. Are you running lithium batteries? Again, sweet rig! By the way, people can talk all they want. It's your boat, run over anything you want.
Great video Keith!!! I regret the day I sold my old Bass Tracker boat to buy my Stratos. The Stratos is great but it’s just limited in where it can go. Obviously, there’s no such thing as a perfect boat but my next one will be aluminum.
I bet they ain’t many pro’s rebuilding aluminum boats. There is no such thing as overkill. Man I love it. Give me some ideas. I wondered how a man got low water PU.
I almost died in the lock at Harris chain when you told me someone stole the motor cowl. It sucks but you should make a video about it people would get a kick out of that😂
Any idea on the specifics off this hull? Love the boat. Mod V nice. 1648? Just got into a little 1436 Lund started pushing up rivers in my area, but you know what they say, gonna need a bigger boat.
It needs a keystone light beer wrap because you need a 30 pack with you every time you go off the grid because there is no telling what your gonna do lol 😆
The best part about having an older boat,,,,, It's paid for.
Yes Sir! Truth!
Loved this video, Keith. Thanks for putting it together. You're a true fisherman...No cares about making it look fancy for other people to admire, just whatever it takes to get out there and catch fish. Good luck the rest of this season.

very motivating!! I have a 1436 tracker that I decked out. Like you said it is amazing the amount of pride I have in it!

Keith , I met you last fall early am getting fuel during hurricanes . I was with the power company . You are real as they get man . You come up north sometime , I got you
You got that lil boat in serious shape
That's how it's done brother👊
Love how this boat is all built off of an original family classic boat. I love fishing shallow.
Bro you got my sub... Congrats on your Open win!!!
I rebuilt, fished and payed for my first rig with winnings. Love this video, it touches a fond memories.
Dang!!! Off the grid looks awesome!! I have an old 1860 roughneck, gonna fix up. Thanks for the ideas.
Man I loved my Duracraft all-welded. Acutually hit a full tree floating out in the lake in a night tournament and still made it 10 miles back to the ramp as the boat sunk onto the boat trailer.
Dude don't worry bout everyone else's opinions, it's what makes you happy and sure the boat is pullin the fish in. Awesome job!👍👍👍👍👍👍
That boat is a beast. Love it.
You gotta love those old DuraCraft boats. I own a 1542 DC stick steer that was in rough shape when I bought it. Great looking boat!

Love it. Redoing a old alumacraft bandit for the same reason now. Love these videos.
Well thought out design. I wish you luck at winning more tournaments with your boat!
I don't even a own boat but that was super interesting, well done.
Bass Pro has some awesome grey/red seats. Super comfortable. Seen em at the East Ridge, Tn location.
People underestimate aluminum boats these days......that is a sweet boat!!! ....Never been in the shop just forgot to put a few screws back in....😂.. Awesome video keep em coming!!
Awesome videos Chief ! Keep it up ! My 9 year old is addicted to these videos! I think I am too.

Half way through the video and had to comment.
That is a fishing machine.
Back when I fished tournaments I had 5 or r 6 rods and a small tackle box
That’s a true river rat rig right there. I’ve wondered many times what you were running. Well done 👍🏼
Excellent job, Love the xdcr mount too! Congrats on a great job
I absolutely love fishing in skinny water so one day I would love to have a rig like that
Sweet boat ! You did a great job !
Very nice rig you built there... I would call it the ultimate river fishing boat... would love to have something like that for fishing the Mississippi river in Minnesota
Bad ass boat right there. I could sure use that in south Louisiana
dang u got that thing kitted out looks great, I'm 16 now and have been into fishing for the past few years these ponds I go to usually near my house are being poisoned by the people that own the land and so the fish are dying. I'm looking for a boat cheap that i can build up myself. what u got here looks exactly what I need to do thanks for the inspiration.
I bet you like that quiet 4 stroke. I'm putting a new Suzuki 30 on the back of my rebuilt 1972 16' V Hull StarCraft.
I literally just want a John boat and trick it out to get in back water places on my body of water. Places I can access others can’t I find that fun. Congratulations on your win!!
Perfect boat for redfish and trout in the backwater too.
great job on building your rig .it goes to show you don't need a 100 thousand dollar rig to win
Slick looking boat.
The tin rig rules!!! Would never go back to a glass boat.
Your are a cool dude, I like watching you in the MLF!
When my dads 115 tower of power fell of the back of our VIP my dad said “son, when you buy a boat buy you of them big aluminum boats.” It was 1987. The VIP was 15’.

Thanks for the tour.
I heard the bigshots dont like the way you fish back in the junk ..too bad for them . Lol. Great boat !!!
Great tips at back of boat I want bob’s jack plate am worried about water pumping
Keith, I'm in the process of getting my 1985 skeeter starfire with a mercury black max 150 running. Of course it's fiberglass but I'm enjoying working on it. In the process of adding new gauges and a hydraulic steering system. 🎣🐟
Please make sure the transom has not rotted . A lot of those did. I had to put an aluminum plate over mine to be safe
Thanks you. Awesome boat
You done a damn good job bud..., earned a new subscriber 👍🏼
about how much did it cost to gut the boat and rebuild it like that? I have an old aluminum boat that would be perfect for that.
I had a Ranger 198p. I didn’t feel like it was durable enough to do what Keith does. Accessing really hard to get areas . So I recently went back to fiberglass.
Damn look at that ride in the garage!
That is so cool!!!!
Hey, Just the kinda boat you need down here in the panhandle of Florida, on the choctawhatchee right river, come on! 👍✝️We call em' stump jumpers
You did it right! Looks good!
I too have an old aluminum boat and go places much like you. Fish saltwater and freshwater out if it, sure I have a bass boat also but there are places I will not put my bass boat.
great work.

I prefer aluminum, I can get into some really shallow areas. I just wish my '99 Pro Team 175 was the wider beam version like the newer ones.
@@lsnead72 Ikr
That’s a cool set man run it!!!
Doo Doo Brown! I had a buddy by that name, lol!
Love the tin rig!!
That boat is super nice!! I love the setup!! I’m surprised you didn’t run a jet setup.
Super setup 👌
Great job
I bet they ain’t many pro’s rebuilding aluminum boats. There is no such thing as overkill.
Man I love it. Give me some ideas. I wondered how a man got low water PU.
Love the boat only thing that would make it better is if it had a tiller handle
Been waiting for a video of this for a while man.
Im a very big fan...old retired tournament fisherman
I almost died in the lock at Harris chain when you told me someone stole the motor cowl. It sucks but you should make a video about it people would get a kick out of that😂
What HP is that motor?
Sweet rig
Nice rig I liked when you popped over the cat tails in emerald marsh last wk ,did you do any good that day??
The old 88 spl was a great motor
Love it
Any idea on the specifics off this hull? Love the boat. Mod V nice. 1648?
Just got into a little 1436 Lund started pushing up rivers in my area, but you know what they say, gonna need a bigger boat.
How do you charge the battery for off the grid. Do you use solar panels? I like your idea boat
Riveted or welded bottom. If I knew how to make it water tight I would keep mine for ever. Thoughts out there?
Nice setup.. working on a similar build myself. What brand is the floor covering you used?
Are them carpet decals on the hydro deck
Like your boat and I am doing the same with my boat. Do you have a video or would you do a video on how you installed your float pods?
Gona have to try some Remington in my Marlin xt
It needs a keystone light beer wrap because you need a 30 pack with you every time you go off the grid because there is no telling what your gonna do lol 😆
I would love to have that boat 💯
@ Keith did you have to reinforce the boats hull? Is this a riveted boat?
I've got the same boat duracraft 1648 they tuff.
What HP motor? Length and width of hull please!! Thanks!!
What kind of jacket are you wearing?
So what's the boat in the garage?
