    My grandfather passed on. He arrived in France D-day plus 9. They gave us a gift and didn't make a big deal about it. I love these guys so much it hurts.

      Rgss. I was born on the 6/6/69. Everyday I think about what these men gave so I could have freedom. My great uncle david mackenzie fought in north africa (lybia) and on to d/day. I will never forget, I teach my granddaughters about what was given for us.

    We cannot attest to how much we owe these veterans and how much peace we have now because of them. Yet another cycle begins when history will repeat itself soon which I pray won’t happen.

    The way they speak, even at that age. Dignified, thoughtful, humility, get the point across clearly. Truly wish some young folks today took a lesson from them on how to carry yourself.

    These men are amazing. I’d love to sit with them and let them tell me stories for hours. I’m 41. My grandfather was in WW2. He died in 2002. He used to tell stories when I was a kid. I certainly did not appreciate them as I should have back then. I’d love just 10 minutes more with that man to tell him how great he was and hear one more story. ❤

    Was there last week from 3rd - 10th of June and my god is it a special feeling. I'm pretty much obsessed when it comes to ww2 on learning and for the past 20 years been dreaming to go to Normandy and it finally happened.. The silence but extreme loudness of these beaches is beyond anything I could've imagined. Got myself a picture with Jake Larson and his card just before they left Omaha Beach on June 6th in the morning. Stood there at 06:00 AM next to +- 100 more people and reenactors to honor these men and women.
    The feeling, vibes and masses of people in all the towns, memorials etc. Is just something you should witness and feel yourself. I can't thank these men and women enough for liberating us all, I hope to come back each year I possibly can

    Yes, honor the fallen, their families and the living. Soldiers and officers, heroes both, embody valor's creed, protecting with unwavering might and noble deed. Yes, and we should not allow Homeowners associations and their mgt/collections to ignore a disabled veteran's checks and communications, foreclose and not inform him of the sale. A $400k house with $300k in equity sold for pennies. It's a travesty of justice, unconscionable and unethical. It happened in Nevada and can happen in nonjudicial states. Call the lawmakers. He was Air Force, his Father WWII Navy, much of his family military, one a colonel who passed away and a friend, a Marine who was in Forbes.

      Airborne forces went behind German lines to halt advancing panzer divisions.
      Prior to the invasion, allied intelligence had deceived the Germans into thinking they would attack the Calais with a fake inflatable army and it worked. Hitler, against the advice of his generals had diverted his divisions to the Calais instead of Normandy, leaving a poor Rommel with nothing left

    • @cloud2676
      @cloud2676 2 года назад +1

      If they landed on Pas-de-Calais which was the closest coast to reach when coming from England, the casualties would be more horrifying. The Allies built a fake base on the south-eastern coast of England to make the Germans think they’re landing on PDC which resulted in the Germans prioritising putting heavier defenses there. Little did they know they were actually gonna storm the Normandy beaches so the defenses were pretty light yet they still defended it like crazy. On the other hand they did drop paratroopers behind enemy lines in Normandy to sabotage all they can to make the landings go a big smoothly like taking down artillery and such yet due to bad weather conditions they had a rough start with squads getting scattered and lost and most landed miles away from their intended drop zone.
