    I grew up here. It is absolutely nothing. Nothing to do with nowhere to go. It's only beautiful when it shines and that's rare! No, living here is like serving a harsh sentence! 😮

    Helped my brother and his family move to Sitka back in 2006. Beautiful place. Rains WAY too damn much though.

    The trees are Western Hemlock, Alaska (Yellow) Cedar), Sitka Spruce.and Mountain Hemlock. There is no White Cedar or Douglas Fir in Southeast Alaska,

      You really need to fix this video. The indigenous people you talk about are the Tlingit. Commonly pronounced Klēnkit

    Spent summer sated with salmon. As a runner and biker I lived in fear if bears. Yet part of me wanted to drop 1000 mics of lsd,run up to a mother bear and her cub, grab the cub,moon mama bear and run like hell laughing all the way

    Also interesting that during WW2 were route from alaska to siberia. Its about 80 years after Alaska was sold, so some locals possible to speak russian language and in Nome and Fairbanks were soviet bases!

    I have a niece in Sitka! She left South Africa in the seventies to emigrate to Sitka. Debbie van Tonder married a American in Sitka and the last that heard from her! Her son is a Capt for Sitka airlines! I would sincerely love to see her again!

    I just came back from Sitka 2 years ago. I worked on a boat and worked at the Fortress of the bears. So beautiful

      Hmm interesting I was looking for travel assignment jobs and there is one newly listed in Sitka. I’m a healthcare worker, are there big hospitals there? And how much would rent cost for a small room or studio?
