There is a hiking trail from vancouver all the way up to juneau so you can also walk there. I am currently planning to walk across canada from coast to coast to coast, taking 3 years. Your voyages have inspired me to go where cars cannot go, following trails all the way. My early retirement treat for all my hard work.
Sounds great. I’m to busted up to make a walk like that anymore. But I would like to drive the AlCan hiway someday. Hope you have a great hike stay safe and enjoy
I’m glad you enjoyed Juneau. I’m a Colorado country girl, but I’ve lived in Juneau for 43 years. We’re very happy here. I hope you saw eagles. There weren’t any in your video, but we really do have lots. I’m a state government worker and my office is downtown. It’s a great place to be on sunny days by the water. Thanks for the video.
Nicole, congratulations for getting all 50 state capital stamps! You are part of a small elite group now! Not what I was expecting at all, but very appealing. It's always fun to see a house with its yard full of 'stuff'. LOL Even in unlikely places where 'stuff' is hard to come by .That blue house with the pink door is painted like mine! I love bright colors. Thanks for taking us along.
The stamped State Capital booklet is a keepsake of cherished memories , so lovely. Congrats! Thank you so much for taking us along. Juneau does look gorgeous. It would be picture-perfect to look out your office windows and see in front of you a huge mountain, with gorgeous evergreen trees, mist in the valleys and an Eagle or two. Beautiful. Bless you Joe and Nicole.
Worked in Juneau for a year. Alaska Airlines 737’s have special equipment and pilot’s training for instrument approaches in low clouds/visibility because the mountains are so close to the approach from the south. stayed in the Mendenhall Valley (near airport). My favorite restaurant was The Hangar on the Wharf. Too bad you didn’t discover that while you were there-you would have loved it!
I love all your work but this is super awesome your platform is really great good quality and educational Iam a fan that yearly income is wow I’m moving to Seattle wa next year but no doubt I love Alaska I knew about anchorage but you are now showing me the capital good job keep it going
A few years back I look a Norwegian Cruise ship from Seattle up the Pacific to various stops in Alaska. It is one of the few cruise ships I would consider boarding. The trip was awesome. Last cruise for the season and the weather kept us from docking in Juneau. The farthest north we went was Ketchikan and loved it. They also have totem poles there. I got a Ketchikan t-shirt with a huge grizzly bear on the back. Caption above the bear said, "Does not play well with others" 😅
Ketchikan, south of Juneau,is my favorite Alaskan city. Yes,it's cool there but not frightfully cold, not even in the winter( lots of 30s and 40s highs and lows). Kudos to Nic for braving the coolness. I know she's a warm weather person. It is beautiful there, isn't it? Stay safe, you two.
I moved to Juneau in 1976, loved every minute I lived there. It is so different now. To touristie, to many cruise ships. We always wanted bad weather when the ships came in so the tourist wouldn't like Juneau. I lived out in the valley by the airport. Thanks for the current tour.
Great video! Love the Wisconsin connection ! 3 million lakes! Wow! Gorgeous place! Love the mountains. I like the capitol building. Love the 70’s vibe. Pizza looked delicious.
The view of dense forest over the narrow streets of Juneau is spectacular! I think living in such tough and severe state as Alaska is obviously challenge and endurance itself, to say nothing about daily work activities which would demand times more energy and commitment when its freezing cold, windy and humidity puts your body and mood under stress which not many people could withstand!
I teared up a bit seeing Nicole get her final state stamp. I've watched all of your travel videos. What an extraordinary journey! Thank you and Nicole for taking all of us with! God Bless Beautiful America!🇺🇸
...is why I'll never understand why folks go to far away countries....we have every kind of climate n environment that you'd want! ( except if you're visiting far away family)
I've lived in Texas for the last 11 years now. About 23 in the southwest total, in general. Sometimes the heat is just too much! Juneau looks like the perfect place. Not sure how it would be with 2000 or so cruise ship tourists waking around though. Still I think a cooler climate would suit me better no matter where it is. I liked your Anchorage video, but something about Juneau seems more... affordable, shall we say... But again, Austin TX has it going on! And thats why I choose to stay. Love your channel and always look forward to your uploads. Thanks guys!! May all your travels be safe
Such a beautiful state!! My Dad went to Hawaii when he went to Alaska, he told me he loved that state and people so much more than in Hawaii. I am wondering which was your favorite. Congrats on getting ALL 50 states. That is awesome. I really enjoy learning so much from your trips. Thank you.
Enjoyed your Juneau episode, Joe! Wish there was more. But we understand the weather isn't what you are used to. Especially you, Nic, you are not fond of the cold. Take Care.
Juneau is lovely. About 10K of the 32K population lives in the "mountainside/Old Town" area; most of the rest live in Mendenhall Valley north towards the airport. It's flatter and more "suburban", where most of the regular/locals retail is located. One of my top favorite towns as well.
oh wow I always wanted to visit Juneau - that's amazing Joe. Also great to see Nicole with her bright smile cheering all those tourists up in the cold summer day
Tracys King Crab has a place about a 10 minute walk up the shore from where you are downtown that has no lines and sits right on the water so you watch eagles, etc. Food fantastic!!! Was there about 14 months ago working.
I know it was cold. Just look at the mountains ⛰️ and those ☁️ 😶🌫️. The 🏘 were lovely 😍 . Wonderful scenery 🏔🏞 Joey . Pizza 🍕 🍕 time food looked marvelously joey & Nicole 😋 .
I am glad you liked our town. We tell our friends and family the best time to visit Juneau is in May. May is usually our dry month and can get very warm....for us ;)
Had a couple of summers in Alaska and always loved it. Juneau is gorgeous, Ketchikan is gorgeous, Skagway is gorgeous....really, it's all grand. There's a ferry service from Bellingham in Washington State up to Alaska, as an alternative sea voyage choice to the cruise ships - something I've yet to try but I'm sure would make for a great experience. If you get back to Juneau stop in at The Hangar for a meal, definitely a favorite stop during my time there.
What a lovely city, lots of beautiful homes and hills. I don't know if I could do the constant tourism but still beautiful. Have a great day and safe travels
My home. Been here almost 30 years, and there's no better place for me. It either clicks for you or it doesn't. The quality of life is really good if you can deal with the climate.
That old dock you were filming at the beginning, my dad used to drive a cargo van backwards down it so he could get supplies off the boat. Nerve wracking to say the least.
Like everything in the world has...it's changed alot in Juneau since I was there in the mid 1970's. Weird to think I was five years old when Alaska became a State. On the south end of town there were old mine buildings up on the side of the mountain. And yeah, I remember the Red Dog. It was popular and famous even when I was there in the 70's, but their wasn't near the amount of cruise ship tourism then as there is now.
I was stationed at the US Coast Guard District Office in Juneau from 1962 to 1965 before downtown was ruined by cruise ships. Loved the town and the town loved the Coasties. But there was nothing for young & single people to do in the evenings (except patronize the 19 downtown bars) so I took a moonlighting job at the "premier" nightclub/restaurant on Douglas Island called "Mike's Place" and came away from Juneau with enough savings to buy a brand new 1965 MGB Roadster for my new duty station USCG Air Station San Diego..
I can’t believe I have been with you before u started traveling. It’s hard to believe I have been with h all for over three years.wow.long time’ love watching u all!!!!god bless safe travels😻✌️
I love how I turned RUclips on and got to see yall were in Alaska. I started watching yall right before you sold your house and man, time flies when your having fun. Thank you! I feel like I've been to most of these places. Can't wait to be here for the next chapter or project 🎉take care
Rent a car and drive out of the city. Visit Douglas Island, visit Mendenhall Glacier. Drive until the road ends north of Juneau to Eagle River. I loved visiting Juneau and look forward to returning there
Thanks for your videos Joe and Nic! I saw your videos of upstate NY, Mississippi, etc, they keep getting better because you include a short story about the town. I like you show some poor places but you also show the beautiful places, it is real but not all doom and gloom. Thanks 🙏🏼 and travel safe. 🎉
Congratulations Nicole and Joe! You got all the stamps. You are in rare company. Love your videos. I go to MapQuest to see where your at on every one. Hope you keep doing them. I gotta have my Dollar General and stray cat fix.
Totally different from Anchorage - which looked totally American. Juneau has a very European look and feel to it. Like straight from Norway. I didn't like Anchorage, but Juneau is beautiful and calm.
What a pleasant journey, so you've reached the full stamps of all US capitols now :) Juneau, AK looks really more of a Canadian city. My compliments to Joe and Nicole from Switzerland :)

Another awesome video, Joe. I've always wanted to see Alaska...l can't express how much your videos mean to me....l wish l could travel like you do, so l live vicariously thru your travels. This one actually brought tears to my eyes because, like l said I've always wanted to see Alaska. Thank you So Much for taking me along! I always pray for your safe journeys and l hope you keep traveling across the U.S. l always look forward to what's ahead. God bless and always a safe journey. 😊💞
Congrats to Nicole for getting that 50th stamp done. I enjoy the mountainous scenery and it reminds me of the mountainous towns in Japan. Can't wait to see what's next.
Another great video! Montana can get that way in late August. It always pays to pack a hoodie or jacket when you are going anywhere in the Pacific Northwest and especially Alaska :)
I'm sorry I missed you since I was also in Juneau on Aug 27, boarding my American Cruise Lines ship at the other "miner's" dock west of the airport (small ship - only 163 passengers). That day in Juneau was 1 of only 3 rain-free days in our 16 day land/cruise package. Still, it was all beautiful! Congrats on state capitol #50!
Wow, loved this and my kind of location to live. I love winter, snow, the cold and upstate New York has long hot humid summers like the south has always had so this sounds perfect!
"You know"reminds me of Gatlinburg Tennessee but much colder, great 😃 to see Nic again and I agree 👍 with her warm weather much better, thanks Joe and Nic for letting me tag along.🥰💙☮️
Great video guys. Congrats Nicole on filling up your book of capitals great achievement. First I have to say yes it’s absolutely beautiful. The mountain scenery is spectacular. Secondly I have to say with your opening shot my metal parts holding me together started hurting. LoL 😂 just a little to cool and wet feeling for me to personally be comfortable. But I am glad you guys enjoyed your visit so much. Also thanks for showing the parts that the tourist don’t normally see I appreciate that very much. That’s pretty good money, but I figure with everything having to be flown in or shipped in it probably takes it. Wondering what is the employment that brings that kinda money…. Oil industry maybe?? And I guess maybe state government also??? And on another note. With this leg and a half probably not going to be doing those. LoL much. Loved those bars/ saloons I would definitely enjoy that. Would like do have seen in the RedDog but can’t blame ya for not standing in a line I wouldn’t have either. Looking forward to ya doing another one from home with the upcoming Texas video. I thank you for that. And looking forward to the big super special coming up. It’ll hold a lot of memories. Again great job. Safe travels my friend. Keep videoing and I’ll keep watching.
Although small in population, it's spread out, and in scenery and facilities as the state capital, it's probably the nicest or one of the top two, nicest, liveable, "cities" in Alaska. It also is Alaska in microcosm- sea, forests, mountains, ice fields, town, all things in very close proximity to see. The cool, wetter weather is something some like better than heat and high humidity.
That was a quick series. I guess I was expecting you guys to be haunting all over Alaska. I'd like to know more about the prices. The per capita income, from what I reckon, is that high because every day needs such as groceries are way higher than they are in the lower 48. I had hoped one of those houses would have been for sale so we could check prices. No night time scenes either. I'm with Nichole on weather as well. I'm a desert dweller and once the temps get to the 70` mark I go into convulsions. Our day time weather today has cooled down to a nice cozy 100`. Perfect.
How fun you guys! I find it interesting that most of the buildings looked kind of plain in design and not historically old compared to the rest of the U.S. probably because it is a newer state. Beautiful town but can you imagine seeing cruise ships coming and going everyday? Lived in a port town growing up and I was very different.I prefer warmer weather now. Thanks for taking us along on your journey! Always a pleasure to see!
Looks like a beautiful place. I am not a cold weather person either but Juneau looks nice. I never knew it was a veritable island in that you could only reach it by air or sea.
Hey Joe and Nicole 👋wow that Juneau is beautiful but all that steep walking in the winter! Juneau didn't get the memo that its still summer!😮. And whats with the 20 mph speed limit sign in the middle of the sidewalk??😂. Tysm 4 the road trip. Very awesome, b safe!
Hi guys. Congratulations Nicole. I thought about moving to Alaska but know the several months of darkness would make me crazy. I do love just the wilderness of it.
End of August is fall, even though the equinox is 3 weeks away. Fun fact much of current US was founded by Canada when it was British. I plan to use the ferry to get to Alaska, takes awhile but you see more than on a cruise ship. Juneau looks a lot like Alberta mountain towns Banff and Jasper (before it burned).
There is a hiking trail from vancouver all the way up to juneau so you can also walk there. I am currently planning to walk across canada from coast to coast to coast, taking 3 years. Your voyages have inspired me to go where cars cannot go, following trails all the way. My early retirement treat for all my hard work.

The grey weather would get depressing.. Alaska is beautiful none the less..
Alaska has the lowest suicide rates in the republic, oh wait, never mind.
There’s a reason why so many Alaskans move to Phoenix 😂
@@Speedy_Sneedy I moved the Phoenix from the Northeast for exactly that reason!!
I hate rain and that’s a concern of mine about visiting Alaska
I’m from California where it’s sunny over 300 days a year. I hate it. I much prefer rain and grey skies.

That’s good info to know. Too many cruisers pile into Tracy’s.
Where to now? Australia sounds good, polar opposites to the US, won't see dead towns and cities anywhere.
The mountains look beautiful but also look bleak! Too cold summer weather for this old man. Great video! Cheers from Australia.
What a quaint town n some cute homes ! Great video n lovely scenery !
Choose "no tip" and leave cash. I understand that waitstaff like that better. When I have good service, I like leaving a cash tip.
Yes, then you know the waitress/waiter has an actual chance of keeping the tip
I always try to make this move whenever possible.
Juneau looks fantastic! I will have to to visit someday , but I definitely prefer what you did over just taking a day there like the cruise ships

Great video Joe and special mention for Nic who hates the cold thanks love
Opened as soon as I got the notification!!
Congratulations! I better get started on my journey. Loved Alaska so Beautiful!
Congratulations on traveling ALL 50 of our beautiful states❤ I have 12 more to go 🙏🙏🇺🇸🇺🇸🦋🦋
How fun you guys!
Great video again. I spotted a wee mistake. The date of the newspaper in the Capitol building was 1958, not 1895.
South padre really made your top ten that’s interesting 👍
Ok, as an outsider, I often see Alaska as mountains, snow, vast area with barely any people. Thank you for showing this side of
It’s really a very beautiful place!
Looks like a beautiful place. I am not a cold weather person either but Juneau looks nice. I never knew it was a veritable island in that you could only reach it by air or sea.
Thank you for sharing your life with us.......greetsz from holland/Friesland/workum....max😉👍😎
Very beautiful city 🏙️ , and Thank you for sharing this with everyone.
Hi guys. Congratulations Nicole. I thought about moving to Alaska but know the several months of darkness would make me crazy. I do love just the wilderness of it.
Alaska is beautiful. From Nairobi Kenya
You often make informative videos. I enjoyed this one!
I’d like to see you talk to more locals on these visits to get more of a perspective on what it’s like to live in these towns
Love your work.....cant wait for your next vid!!! (from Australia)
Wao What a trip, Thank you for the Info very Educational to me.
Feels like I'm there
Nice one thanks for sharing joe and Nic 👍
I hear you getting exercise on those "hills" ha ha - must be steeper than they look on you tube. For me it would be too cold in the winter!
