    Thank you so much for the clear, funny and concise info! I just unpacked my first pair of quads and knew I had to loosen and adjust everything - but had a lot of question marks floating over my head on how much. I feel a lot more confident now as far as the trucks are concerned.

    Thank you for explaining the looseness vs tightness of that metal piece (name?) after adjusting! I couldn’t figure out how loose each one was to make them all even in the first place and was getting so discouraged!

    What is the screw under the king pin I was told I need an 11/16 wrench to loosen that first then use the skate tool for the king pin. I’m confused

    Hello @MadameQuadHK .. My 4 wheel Chicago Skates on new wheels/bearings and have a particular deal. When I push them on a flat surface (about 50-60cm ahead) the left one will turn outwards-left and the right one, outwards-right at abot 40cm apart. Is this normal?. If not, how to correct it?. TNX. Sal.

    What about the action nut on the kingpin?

    Ummmmmmmm what if at the bottom of your skates you don’t have that giant bolt think for truck tightening because I need to make mine more loose and don’t know how to

    The store where I purchased my boots/plates, other than selling these items is all about figure skating. They're not even aware of being able to adjust the trucks to create edge control. So I'm on my own except for info like this which is most appreciated. Mind you I only live 25 miles from a capital city in my state. I have to go St Louis (100 miles) to buy the boots. It's not like I live in the boonies. There are roller rinks, but none with fitters for boots. Artistic skating is just not popular here. It's all about ice. I'm making the switch because I'm a senior and I can practice at home on my hardwood floors to start.

      As we are obsessed with all roller skate things, we can appreciate those wanting to focus on a niche. And we are happy to help however way we can! Thank you for switching and Congratulations! Skating at home is the ultimate skating privilege! we hope you love it as much as we do!

      @@MadameQuadHK first time didn't go as well as I'd have hoped. I realize figure skating is not my friend on quads.

    These are my first skates and they are so painful, I’m convinced they’re the reason I’m not improving. I can’t put any weight in the toe blocks due to excruciating pain caused by the hard material.

    • @MadameQuadHK
      @MadameQuadHK  2 года назад +1

      OUCH! Might they be one size too small for you? The material is quite hard and unbendable, and some people just hate the feel of them.
      A softer, more padded boot might be good, something like the Chaya Melrose line.
      Good luck,

    You might want to loosen the 11/16 nut first before you turn the bolt!

    those black skates behind you look very dangerous... 😅😅

    • @MadameQuadHK
      @MadameQuadHK  3 года назад +7

      They sure do look dangerous Stephanie! These gorgeous vintage skates were gifted to us by one of our community members. It was a lil kid's skates, and he rocked them. The plate, being mounted so far forward, was quite common for your regular old speed skate. This forward mount ensures all the energy you place into your skate is 100% utilised (as much as the technology back then would have allowed for it of course). *this is my understanding of the mounting.
      Thanks for the comment :}
