Incredible. Some on here saying it’s not unrestored. Well, what evidence do they have to say that? Sure, it may seem unbelievable but, there are some people who really do look after their cars and l reckon it’s legit. But, what an impressive example of what has to be the most iconic car ever made in Australia. Alongside all of those other sports cars, it is undeniably the most practical of them all. You could carry more passengers, luggage and tow more than those other things. I will always love the GTHO Phase 3.
A genuine original glove box door must be worth a fortune. I hope they all find their way to genuine HO’s . I remember talking about this a long time ago. The HO from memory had GTHO on the glove box door.
Got to pick my girlfriend when I was just 16. Dumb as, I gave it a bootfull. Don’t know how I kept it straight after she went from side to side down the road. She was impressed. I just about needed a change of pants.
It's a play on words. It is "unrestored" but it has been maintained. Cars can be "maintained" in original condition, paint touched up, parts replaced, everything kept as it was from the factory and they can say "it has not been restored" and it hasn't. Of course saying it has not been restored adds a ton of money to the price.
@@MrVectorviper me neither, tyres over 50 years old could delaminate without warning and those tyres weren't all that great when they were new. Yes and no. Australian GT's and GTHO's are based of Fairmont's . the proper name is Fairmont GT, the South African GT's which were Australian exports are based off a Falcon 500 so the interior is vastly different. There is no equivalent South African GT and certainly no GTHO version.
Our guy seems a bit confused. Olympic~Dunlop tyres? Period rack for sure but no way are the tires same. They are either one or the other and the only company that would put its name to Aquajets is Dunlop. As for the homologation wheels they have been re machined at the bare minimum. No diamond tooling around back then in 71 when Drage copied the Ferrari Wheels at Globe. Oh and you cant trust the stamps in the wheel that refer to date code. I know this for a fact. As for fully original looks pretty good single panel repaints done over time yeah naa with such low miles. Great Car but not exactly as described.
Cool cars. Lots of character! I would have loved one, but at the end of the day, my 2017 mustang would destroy it in a race and it rides, handles, steers, brakes better and uses less fuel in the process, plus it's a lot cheaper to buy and I don't need to put it up on blocks to preserve it's value, or chain it down to prevent thieves. 🤷
It is a tin God. It is held by high priests, stored in a glass box, cannot be touched by mere mortals, only viewed on special occasions and all its parts are holy relics, never to be replaced. I'd be surprised if it works. You couldn't do any maintenance on it, the spanners might leave marks on the bolts.

Ive driven everything worth driving. The xy gt is the most exciting car ive ever driven by a huge distance
Go on, write up a list then.... ?
So a Porsche don't touch it?Or a GT40, a Ferrari, Lamborghini, M3? Bloody hell. Need to bring this thing back
I agree, every time I drive one I am not only impressed for its age but get a little nostalgic.
You have only driven old bombs then 😂

The opening statement how true even Holden people like em yep can’t argue with that
I could only afford a factory jewel green falcon 500 K code 4speed GS back then!! I still had a lot of fun in her though!
GS was a good option tho aye. I liked how ford had a GS and GT. Sport and Tourer.
Well put together & Ford GT 600hp black keeps the HOOD free of EV sickness

There are a few 65E's about apparently! A difficult question to answer.
Unrestored...yet it has gloss black bonnet stripes
If that's completely original, unrestored, I'll eat my hat!

How can you tell a genuine phase 3 Globe rim from a no genuine?

Beautiful car, looks as good as new.
However, can’t understand the old tyre obsession.

For those thinking they can handle a car, take a beast like that for a hard run with aquajets on the rims- BUT definitely not 50yr old aquajets😱
