- Hi ya'll! in this tutorial I show you how to create edible crystal fairy wings for cake decorating. I have made these wings a few times, I used them to make angel wings, fairy wings, bug wings, even stained glass windows and sugar flowers, but the sky is the limit! You only need a few products to pull this design off.
For the green outline I used Madame Loulou smart lace which you can find on my amazon page, just follow this link and click on the shop-able photo it has everything I used to make these wings! www.amazon.com/shop/thesugarscoop
WWW.TheSugarScoop.com for the PDF downloads of the fairy wing designs Хобби
The background music transported me to some rainy forrest and I can just imagine real fairy’s living there.
Love the tutorial 💜

Soo awesome!! Thank you for this great video and the pdfs. I will be purchasing soon.

Ok, this is EXACTLY what I have been looking for to do large wings on my niece’s next birthday cake! I had been looking at isomalt butterfly wings but none of them were large because it’s so fragile, so the gelatin is SUCH a better idea! Can’t wait to try this and see how it turns out. Thank you for making this video!
No problem! The wires are very important for larger wings. Definitely experiment in advance temp/humidity makes a big difference. Good luck!
Beautiful!
It's so amazing!!!
Irene Chuvilina Thank you!
Woow ! Amazing !
Cake Design avec Safir thanks so much!

Your welcome!
I just ‘got my wings today’!!!! Thank you for the nice selection of them.
I can’t wait to try this beautiful addition to my cakes Lil’ Ms. Shelby!
Also, you nails are pretty. You’ve inspired me that I CAN work with my nails ‘all done up’ (but keeping them sanitized of course) as I love to keep them fairly long.
I like my nails lookin’ fly and it makes my hands look better.
I will just forego my normal embellishments.😉
New subbie.
Yay! So glad. Good luck!
Very iinteresting and simple technique, and expressive! I will definetrly take it to work, thank you😊👌👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Thank you!
Beautiful wings. Awesome tutorial.
It's awesome 😍
beautiful!!!!
Absolutely wow!!!!
Thanks!
So stunning! I admire how you work with these pieces wearing long nails>_< I can't work with long nails I always mess things up.
I love my long nails! I have to be extra careful though. Thank you 🙏
Beautiful 👍👍
Thank you!
Wiuaaaou magnifique 😍😍😍
Thank you!!
Awesome !!!I really love it.can I use the same technique to make a butterfly?
Wowwwwwwww gooooood job
Kaouthermoi Me Thank you!
Wow, awesome!!!
Thanks!
This is honestly the most beautiful thing I think I have seen made all year.
Quick question - would it be possible to shape the wire and line it up with the template from the offset, and pipe the lace onto the wire, instead of sticking the wire on the back afterwards?
I have not long ordered some lace mats, so I might have to give this a go when I get hold of the edible lace. Can only seem to find the powdered version of Madame Loulou over here in UK.
wowwwwwww that's amazing
very helpful!!!!!thanks!!!!
Wow!
Thank you. These are beautiful went straight to your shop and got your PDF. Any chance you can design sets of Dragon wings for a PDF.. That would be awesome!
Awww thank you so much!
Just go online and find printable ones. Copy what you like, and just adjust the copied size to what you want. Do that with pretty much anything.
Amazing work !
Omg awesome!!!!
Thanks!
By far, the most beautiful wings I've ever seen. What would be the best way to attach them to a figure?
You can use a few things, chocolate (not too hot) gelatin, tooth picks.. you can also extend (or place more) wires so they stick into the cake.
Hi, awesome work, what fill in the piping bag is light green for the outline?
😍🤩😯stunning!!
Thanks!
Love you so much
Oh no the link you shared didn't link for some reason.
Aside from that, your work is amazing and BEAUTIFUL!!!
I don’t know why they aren’t working. Thank you!
Ooooh. Super beautiful !!! please what is the green border?
Hello...the green boarder, what is it made of? royal icing? Thank you!
In her amazon product description she mentions “Madame Loulou Smart Lace, Edible & Ready-to-Use Cake Lace “ I believe that’s what the green is along with green food coloring
I bought the wings on your site do you have a video on how to do the little girl butterfly for this photo you have the wings attached to?
Thank you for the video and pdf. I just purchased. I need these to be 100% edible, so no wire. Will that be a problem? I am planning on doing wings for a 8 inch fairy, so they will be small.
Magnific....no se habar ingles pero me gustarea saber con que esta hecho el contorno ,el de color verde.
Que los colores están de gelatina pero el contorno verde ....no lo se
Thank you so much for sharing your baking knowledges here!! May I ask you what are you using in your green piping bag to create those wing's veins? Is it royal icing maybe? I didn't understand pretty well :(
It’s an edible lace called “smart lace” by Madame LouLou.
Amazing. Must try
This is awesome! Do you know if chocolate would work for the outline? I know it would be more fragile & brittle but would the gelatin adhere to the chocolate? I was reading through the comments and you said you thought you had attached the wings to the cake with chocolate
Thank you! Yes chocolate would work, just more fragile like you said.
Stunning, I do have to ask though, why not make it out of cellophane or buy something, it’s only edible if you can eat it, and with wires all through it I’m not sure I see the point?
Instead of attaching wires, can I place them directly on to a buttercream frosted cake?
Hello, i love ur ide so much , but if i want use the base glucose n mixed it with gelatin, is it works for the base line? Hope u read this, thankyou so much 💞
Like a gummy? Might work, idk if it will be strong enough, try it out and let me know!
Stunning.. What can we use as other alternative to that green outline.. Limited stocks availble herevin Philippines..
There are recipes online on how to make your own edible lace. I haven’t tried it, but in theory it should work.
Amazing 😍 can I replace gelatine with agar agar?
It looks great. I have a question about the gelatin. Can I use vegetarian gelatine ? And did you try to make it sweet? I just can't imagine eating plain gelatine.... what do you think?
I just found ur channel and saw this...outstanding job..I have a question..can I use melted chocolate to make the border..please answer
You can but it won’t be flexible and will be more breakable. But definitely possible! Make sure your gelatin isn’t too hot.
These are beautiful. How did you attach them? It looks like you cut the wires off.
hmmm if I remember correctly... I believe I attached them with chocolate.
That's gorgeous 😍😍😍 can I use royal icing for the base wings instead of lace?
Babs Taklamu it will be more fragile and brittle but technically you can. I wouldn’t use wires either.
Aaw thank you 🤗
Gorgeous 😍😍😍 what did you use as the outline?
Smart lace, a brand of edible lace.
❤❤❤❤❤
Hello, love. Do you have a homemade recipe for the green edible smart lace? I can’t find the madame loulou in our place or even in other brands. ☹️
I'm curious too
You are way ahead of us lol
You should open a teaching classes
Thank you!
Could you push the wire into the piping bag for the outside wires and coat them as you pipe them?
You can always try it, I feel like it would be messier. But you don’t know until you try!
Beautiful! How far in advance could this be done? I’m making a large cake and plan to make a butterfly for the top using this method. Could I make it a week or two in advance? Thanks!
It really depends on how thick you do the gelatin, how you store it and where you live. I actually still have the wings I made in the video and they are in decent shape, I’m in a humid climate so they didn’t get very brittle and I wrapped them in cling wrap. You could do a test and see how it holds up.
@@TheSugarScoop Great, thanks!
I love this ❤️ ! Just a quick question ‘What is the green icing made out of?’
Smart lace
Can we use edible lace recipe for this
Hi! With what paste do you outline the cut and the veins of the wings? Thanks 💗
Smart lace by Madame LouLou
What is the green thing you piped in? Is it Royal icing?
Can you do a video on the new isomalt sheets or plates that I'm seeing everywhere lately? I saw one with a whole fish sticking through it like it was water was so great looking would love to learn to do that. Or do you teach a class on it? I saw your online school doesn't have any classes in it.
Can you send me photos of what you are talking about, I think I know but I want to make sure TheSugarScoop_1@gmail.com
@@TheSugarScoop I sent a photo I hope you received it and can help out with some suggestions. Thank you so much love all your work on Cookie Connections and Food Network competitions loved the wedding cake you and your mom did was absolutely beautiful. Wish you would also do a tutorial on that rose you put on it.
Shelby the e-mail came back from gmail saying it couldn't find the email you provided. I copied the one above to send you the photo. TheSugarScoop_1@gmail.com is that incorrect?
How much water and gelatin do you use?
Can you use agar agar instead of gelatin?
Thank you for your video. Can these wings be made with all edible materials? I wouldn't want to put something on a cake or edible sculpture that couldn't be eaten.
You could try royal icing or chocolate instead of the edible lace with wire. But it wouldn’t be bendable.
Thank you! ❤
Hi with what do you pipe the outline
Wonderful
Can i ask you what the thing you use when you draw the outline of the fairy Wings, the green thing in the bag. I did not understand what you say about it on the vedio
It’s an edible lace product. The one I’m using is called Smart Lace, but there are lots of brands and you can make your own too.
@@TheSugarScoop Thank you very much for answering me, I hope that I did not bother you, but what is it made of? Here the materials are difficult to access, especially in conditions of COVID-19، so I must try to make them myself or find something close to them.
It's a really beautiful set of wings! Quick question though, I'm wondering how I could color it if I did a clear "plastic gelatin"? Thanks
measurements for fairy wing lining?
Is there a “recipe” use use to make the gelatin (water to gelatin ratio)?
Could you make these without the wire? Is there anything edible you could use instead?
Is there a substitute for the lace? I cant find that in my city
You can try making your own. There are tutorial and recipes online. You could also try chocolate, but they wouldn’t be flexible. And your gelatin can’t be too hot.
