This show was with Fury 66, Good Riddance, and Towards An End. This show was right around the time of the A Fire Inside E.P
I was 17 years old and was at this show. I can't believe I just found this. It was one of the greatest experiences of my life. The energy and passion of AFI during this era and into Black Sails was a sight to behold and most likely, will never be replicated.
Davey was something else this era. Just a total ball of energy.
98 was a great year to be in California for punk shows
I saw AFI in Hollywood, I think The Whiskey, their tour for this album. I was right on the stage (stage dove once). Davey have such a great performance. Wish I could find that video on RUclips.
Youth Brigade also that year, Descendants came back, Blanks 77 show in San Diego (someone got stabbed).
Yeah live bands in the city was a blast, Plan 9, random punk bands and everything was all in good fun.
I can't believe this was captured in such a great and crappy way. It was real. I miss those days

I've been lucky enough to see Tiger Army twice. Once in TO and once in Montreal. Both great shows. Hope to see AFI one day

xbrutalitorx I got pushed up on stage at this show. Sammy and I helped a girl out of the crowd and then he kicked a guy out. As they’re taking the guy outside, cops are rolling by and the guy pulls a knife on Sammy. That dude had the biggest heart. He was the first person to just come up and talk to me at my first hardcore show. Great man.
Life is so fucked up nowadays. People are so constantly distracted and endorphined by social media and bullshit like that that there's no place in society anymore for music and music venues. This was a glorious time. A time when you didn't have fuck else to do so you picked up a guitar and rocked out. And everyone in the community was rocking out with you because they didn't have fuck all to do either. It'd never happen today. Not without some sort of internet blackout. Especially the way people behave today.

That was a sick-ass show! I was 17 years old and Brady from the criminals played guitar for Fury 66 as a stand in. Was also the Tilt reunion show if I am not mistaken. Brings back hella memories.

I was just thinking that. He plays great in this set. You can tell how conditioned he is, jumping around constantly while nailing every chord. I'm shocked he didn't cut those guitar strings though with such a tight quartered set. I'd be worried about poking out an eye!
Yupp it would be. Cause The Black Sails EP came out 7 months after this point in time. Plus you see Jade standing off in the corner behind Nick 13.
