@@puzzlephile I did "Mandala Heart." The puzzle was really beautiful. It turns out though that I'm not really into wooden puzzles (I'm just a cardboard, grid-cut gal... what can I say?). But if I'm ever hankering to do a wooden puzzle again, I'll definitely check out Zen Chalet. Good stuff!
chameleon wooden puzzle 299 pieces almost finished it is soooooooooooooooo much fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! love your channel and exposing us to different kinds of puzzles
Good to know - sounds like you made a great purchase! You’re right that not everyone is interested in buying a $50 puzzle - I definitely need to feature some of these budget options too!
The octopus puzzle is gorgeous! I'm super intrigued with the mystery game puzzle and will look forward to you completing it and telling about the game. Happy puzzling! 🌻🍄
Thank you for your dedication ! I'm not particularly interested in puzzles but I want to purchase one for my beloved aunt. I ended up being in the mailing list of unidragon but your video showed me more. Now it's time to choose !!
I really appreciate the craftsmanship that goes into a wooden puzzle and these were wonderful examples. The only reason I don’t do wooden puzzles is because they don’t lock together well enough for me.
The kerf is the amount of wood removed in the process of cutting the pieces. Laser puzzles have a large kerf. Hand cut puzzles do not. Depending on the amount of color line cutting, and whimsies, you can pick up a complex hand cut puzzle by one corner.
You made me giggle every time you flashed to the foreshadowing clip. At least it wasn’t one you were working on! I loved the jellyfish, that one was so pretty. Definitely my favorite of the ones you showcased in this video. Can you show us the sea turtle one after you finish it? That one is really nice, too, and I am a huge fan of sea turtles.
I’d like to do a video with a round up of all the puzzles I’ve been doing lately outside of what I’ve featured in videos, so the Sea Turtle may make an appearance soon 👍 (I also post just about every puzzle I do on my Instagram)
Before I found your channel I never even thought about watching someone do a puzzle but it's oddly satisfying. I've watched a bunch of your videos now and I really like your editing. I've wanted to get a wooden puzzle for awhile now so it's nice to know about some companies that actually make good ones. Thanks!
Good question! Quatro City has a bit of a looser fit and a few spots that don’t quite interlock until you have all the pieces in place, but not so much that you’re chasing pieces around the table. The others are fully interlocking, no felt needed 👍
Hi Dan, great video and channel 👍. We loved Unidragon and ZenChalet (we made the frog). Have you tried Wentworth puzzles from London UK, they are very good also. Keep posting these great videos. M
Love it. I wish you shot the back view of the puzzle so the whimsy pieces more clearly. On the bear (which I own) there is a camp dancing Sean with a big foot sneaking through the back. It is so cool to see from the wood side.
Really enjoy your videos. There aren't many puzzle videos I feel I can just sit down and relax while watching. Never have done a wooden puzzle, but feel I need to try one now. Although I have to pace myself buying new puzzles, lol. This is the danger of watching puzzle RUclips videos 😂
This was super fun to watch! Thank you for making this! I only knew of Unidragon and Liberty but not the other 2. Would love to try Zen Chalet. The timing of this video couldn't be better. My husband had just surprised me the other day with a "puzzle quest" collaboration series from Unidragon and IC4 Design called "Quezzle". I had never heard of this concept but it was almost exactly what you described with Quatro City. You build 4 quadrants of a city and then solve the mysteries (adds up to 1000pcs). Now i want to try Quatro City!
I already got that same puzzle board! I wanted one with drawers, a lazy Susan, and I needed a cover for my cats and they had one that came with a plastic cover. I love it so much and I literally would not be able to puzzle without it (I live with my grandpa so I have limited space to myself)
I've done one wooden puzzle, the 700 piece Unidragon Magnetic Octopus. I borrowed it from a friend who received it as a gift. It took me a week to finish, about the same amount of time a 1000 piece cardboard puzzle takes.
Great video 😁. I haven’t tried any of these brands, but my favorite wooden puzzle brand is Wentworth, and I also really like Active Puzzles. Active Puzzles come in wooden boxes much like the Unidragon puzzles, but theirs are held together with some nice elastic bands in the sides, so the lid doesn't fall off 😊.
I’ve been wanting to try Wentworth for a while, but I’ve never heard of Active. I’ll have to check them out, especially since it sounds like they’ve solved the wooden box problem 👍👍
These are all so cute! But imagine putting your car key and house key on that keychain and sticking an enormous pointy fish in your pocket. Maybe it would be good for a restaurant’s bathroom key 😂
We did our first ZenChalet this Christmas and loved it. Do you happen to know if the provided mounting circles remove cleanly or are they permanent? I can't find this detail on website. Thanks so much and thank you for this video!
Great video, I’m really enjoying your new channel! I found the grizzly bear puzzle especially appealing, and I realized that same image is on a puzzle I already have- Southwestern Animals by Ravensburger! It is the same artist and it includes a few of her other drawings as well.
I work for liberty puzzles, and as soon as you said the edge was your strategy, I laughed to myself knowing what you discovered to be true. So glad you enjoyed your experience! I’m also curious to know if these other puzzles are quality controlled by hand like ours?
I'm a liberty puzzle fan! Just did one a week ago for the first time....actually got me back into puzzling! I did the bear and I loved the pictures within the puzzle. It was such a cool inception type puzzle. Haha. Like a honey comb near the nose of the bear and a bee or honey drop right on the nose. I don't know if that was intentional, but if so, I loved it!!! SO cool and clever!! So many other pictures within the puzzle. It is an expensive puzzle, but I understand why. Great work over there!
Oh, and I echo what he said about the glossy pieces. A matte finish would be better for puzzling in poor lighting. Had to use a really bright flashlight at times and at certain angles, the light cause a glare.
Hi Dan! Really enjoyed your wooden puzzle review. I am a fan of Liberty puzzles already. I also like Wentworth. Would love for you to also review Artifact puzzles. And what would be absolutely amazing is if you could do a review of Stave puzzles someday - they make the most *amazing* wooden puzzles but they also cost a small fortune. Great job! :0)
You asked me to let you know when I got the two wooden puzzles from Temu .... I recieved today the Chameleon Wooden Puzzle 11.2 x 15.2 inches $9.19 with over 50 whimsy pieces .came in a nice cardboard box in a cloth bag..no poster. I cannot find where it states how many pieces. and the Owl Wooden Puzzle Decompressing large size A4 $6.39 it is in the same packaging as the ones I got from Craft Hub...a plastic snap box with a poster. ( same manufacturer??) The pieces appear to be as thick as the ones you reviewed.... I would really like to see a comparison review of the $50.00 ones and the ones I purchased. I have not put them together yet but I am pleased with the quality, the color, and it looks like sooooo much fun... not all of us want to or can spend $50.00 on one puzzle.... have fun.... on to the next one......
I LOVE wooden puzzles so this video was obviously a hit! ❤️ I've already tested Unidragon and PuuLab and there are two new to me brands in my pile: Woosaic and Zen Chalet. My dream is to someday get a wooden puzzle by Doctor Puzzle, because the whimsies make a another picture on the backside of the puzzle. 🤩 (There might be some other similar brands as well. 🙂)
just realized they have wooden puzzles on Temu also... I just ordered two.... less than $20.00 for both....could be a nice comparison review...I personally would like to know if the $50.00 are that much better and worth the price...I do like the fun pieces in a wooden puzzle
Were they on sale, saying it was the last day until they were gone forever? Came looking for any info on PuzzleUp and it's pretty much this video, and irrelevance otherwise.
For me the fun of a puzzle isn't in the length of time spent but in the enjoyment of spending that time
I'm back to watch the puzzle math again! I hope you keep bringing it back. It's soooooo cool!
Back again to watch as I do my first Zen Chalet puzzle! It was fun puzzling along with you!
Awesome! Which one did you get?
@@puzzlephile I did "Mandala Heart." The puzzle was really beautiful. It turns out though that I'm not really into wooden puzzles (I'm just a cardboard, grid-cut gal... what can I say?). But if I'm ever hankering to do a wooden puzzle again, I'll definitely check out Zen Chalet. Good stuff!

Where did you purchase it?
Fun to watch and informative. I love your channel! I have been collecting the wentworth wooden puzzles my husband gifts me on special occasions.
I haven’t tried Wentworth, but everyone raves about them. Definitely on my puzzle bucket list
You are doing such an amazing job! Very exciting channel!
Thank you so much!
These puzzles look like so much fun. I love the bright colors. I haven't done a wooden puzzle yet but they are on my wish list.
Keep up the great work. I love watching your puzzling. God Bless.
Thank you!!
Wow, such a thorough video. Most excellent! Congrats on the ambassadorship.
Thank you!!
The saga of the lids was too funny! 😂Thanks for keeping it real! Always love your content!
The octopus puzzle is gorgeous! I'm super intrigued with the mystery game puzzle and will look forward to you completing it and telling about the game. Happy puzzling! 🌻🍄
Me too! I really don’t know what to expect
The thicker the wood, the better they lock together. But definitely a totally different feeling from how cardboard pieces interlock

Dan I want them all!! Great video!!
Thanks! Yes, all 4 of these were tremendous fun 👍👍
I will definitely be looking out for other videos that you may make in the future. I enjoyed watching you. Thank you

Glad you’re enjoying it! And let me know how it goes when you try your first wooden puzzle 👍
hi meg2831 are you in the usa im in perth australia get in touch to talk about wooden jigsaw puzzles
Just to double check, do all of these puzzles have interlocking pieces? Or would they not stay together if you weren't doing it on felt?
Good question! Quatro City has a bit of a looser fit and a few spots that don’t quite interlock until you have all the pieces in place, but not so much that you’re chasing pieces around the table. The others are fully interlocking, no felt needed 👍

My apologies. This scene is in the eagle puzzle.
I actually did photograph them all from the back, but then didn’t end up using those shots in the video. I’ll have to post them somewhere 👍

That’s definitely the downside to wooden puzzles - the cost adds up quickly!
Do you have another channel? You don’t seem like a newbie. The quality of your video production and on camera at ease-ness makes you seem like a pro.
Thank you so much! What an amazing compliment! I’m a first-time RUclipsr, but with a background in performing and the arts

Well howdy.your video just came up. Yes wooden puzzles are fun.you picked good ones. Always fun

The piece you couldn't identify from the jellyfish puzzle was a submarine! :D
I still don’t see it!! 😆😆😆
How to glue a wooden puzzle Do you have to put parchment paper under the puzzle before you glue it?
Great video, I’m really enjoying your new channel! I found the grizzly bear puzzle especially appealing, and I realized that same image is on a puzzle I already have- Southwestern Animals by Ravensburger! It is the same artist and it includes a few of her other drawings as well.

Enjoyed this overview of these brands! Some of these have been on my wish list! Can you review the new wooden puzzles from Ravensburger and Trefl?
Oo I love that idea! Writing it down for later 👍
what about the fit? Do any of them have a more precise fit than the others? Meaning that they fit together without slop of movement?
The ones I did were from craft hub. And very inexpensive. A treat for something different..after watching you. I need to order more.
Haven’t tried Craft Hub - the prices are so low I’ve been a little wary. How are they?

I would LOVE to do a Stave - you know, one day, after I get rich 😆
@@puzzlephile I predict you will be doing a Stave in short order! 😆
I really like Twigg wooden puzzles!! My daughter gave me my first wooden puzzle for Christmas last year and the quality was amazing.
I’ll have to give them a try sometime 👍👍
I have that table and LOVE it!!!!
Me too! I was super impressed with the quality

Oo good one, I’d forgotten about Doctor Puzzle! That’s one I definitely want to try
Wentworth also have amazing wooden puzzles. Worth checking out imo.
Great Video !! Thank you very much !!
My fav wood puzzle I've done so far is Morning by Stumpcraft but also really loved both extra difficult ones I've bought from Wentworth.
I just looked up Morning - the multi-piece whimsies are amazing 🤩

Ooh please come back and tell me what you think of them, I’m so curious to know how they are
Love your content- would love it if you could invest in a microphone to improve the audio quality
Agreed! I’m hoping to upgrade soon - I have not been too happy with the cheap mic I’m using
So PuzzleUp is REAL??? I just asked my bank to dispute the charge. It's been 2 weeks & still have not gotten a real thing saying when I would get it.
Were they on sale, saying it was the last day until they were gone forever? Came looking for any info on PuzzleUp and it's pretty much this video, and irrelevance otherwise.
I’ve only tried one wooden puzzle by Woodbests. I liked it but I thought the same thing about the box lid.
Anyone buy feom quordle puzzles?
