The best camp site in South East Queensland? Don't want to miss where I camp for the night.

  • I travel to Glasshouse Mountains in the South East Queensland and explore those magnificent trails through the State Forrest around Mt Beerwah. I then head to Maleny Range for the night and enjoy the amazing hillside camping spot where have valley views and sit by a fire. Once my Kings roof top tent setup is done, I capture some amazing drone footage of Maleny Valley.

Your footage of the pine forest reminded me of my late teens when the Northlakes area (and most of Petrie) was all pine forest. We used to grow a few 'pot plants' and imbibe in our agriculture right where the Northlakes shopping centre is now.

There is an old track (not sure if it's still open) that runs from out the back of Dayboro right up to the top of D'Aguillar range and eventually gets you to the main camping areas (the sawmill and Rocky Hole etc) from the Southern end of the range. It's an incredible drive, and has some spectacular views when you get to the top of the ridge. I drove it around 14 years ago, so it may well be closed or no longer marked. There is an old book/atlas titled 'Explore Australia by 4WD' that has the entire track mapped. Not sure if the book is still available. It was part of a series; Explore Australia, Explore Australia by 4WD and (I think) 'Explore Australia by caravan'.
