look really good,if a man takes pride in his work it will look good and work well.look forward to next video.god bless y'all from Greer's ferry Arkansas.
Hey buddy how’s it goin? The cabin is looking great. Sure is nice see yer Pop there helping out. My Pop helps me on big projects and I help him. I’m grateful my Pop is able to still do stuff. Wish I was there with you guys, work can be fun!
Did you let you interior siding dry before hanging? If so how long did you? Building a 20x28 rough cut timber frame house off my sawmill in Mountain View Arkansas. Not drying any one the wood because need it built ASAP. Thanks in advance for any advice
Walls look really nice. Do you notice the asphalt smell from the felt paper? Is there a vapor barrier behind the felt paper? I want to do something similar to this on my cabin. Was the felt paper to help hide the gaps when the wood shrinks?
@@sawingwithsandy Morning. Sorry, I meant what nails did you use on the interior siding? Also, on a previous video you stated to secure green wood with one fastener, I noticed that you used 2 nails on each 2x4.
Hi Tim, great question. I used 2" long 16gauge nails on the interior. When framing with green lumber I just nail as I would normally nail with dry lumber just because I want to ensure that there is adequate strength there and I won't be able to come back afterwards to add additional nails
Hi! Your interior wall looks SO GOOD! I want to do something similar to one of my walls. In other diy videos like this, I've seen them use a spacer (like a nickel) to put an even separation between boards. Any thoughts about this? I don't know how wood expands and contracts, but I don't want to huge spaces (or overlaps) between boards. Hmmm. Any advice would be appreciated!
Hi Misty, since mu boards were quite wet when I installed them I didn’t leave a space knowing that they would shrink. If you want to avoid big spaces you could air dry the wood for a couple months before installing
Hi Sandy, I notice your are putting two _________ each in the 1x4 interior boards with an air nailer, are they brads or staple and what size? Thanks, Gil
I have watched all the previous videos. I notice that for the interior you are using 2 nails per joist. Seems that the fast drying that will happen when you fire up that stove is going to lead to a lot of cracking? Awesome build. Just here to learn
@@sawingwithsandy The outside decking you mentioned only one nail so that the boards dont tear apart as they shrink. Do you feel like boards are moving more when they are installed outside?
Excellent look! And great to have Sandy Sr. By for the day! Cheers! Andrew from NB :)
This looks great. Despite not liking heights, you do it anyway. nrn

Heyyou Buddy yeah the work is fun aside from the odd grunt work here and there. I’m just happy to be seeing steady progress
Tiny cabin is looking so good! I love the walls n the window trim. Hi dad n camera person!
Sue Norton thanks Sue. Really is coming together well
Hello . Looks great. What type of stain did you use on the boards?

I put the wood up wet but It did shrink some after a while
Did it shrink enough to cause any issue or distaste in your finished wall? Thanks! I'm going to put rough sawn lumber on our walls too.

What did you use for the black backing? Is that roofing felt?
Iooking good I like the look of the wood with the different colours and yes it’s coming like the shark in the movie jaws lol
Denis D I’ve got too many project on the go it seems
I like it, what nails did you use?
Hi Tim, for framing I use 3.5” galvanized ardox nauls

Thanks for watching Matthew. Sure has been a fun build. I haven’t noticed any cracking on the joists yet so hopefully that stays that way

What are you using on your walls black is it a vapour barker?
Hi Paul. I used roofing paper
@@sawingwithsandy ok and I seen the video that if you were to do it again you probably use another dark material.what would you recommend?
Great video Sandy! I plan on doing the same kind of wall soon. How did you get such a straight edge on the boards? Did you use a jointer?
Hi Daniel. The wall boards I did use a planer to make them good and flat after sawing them but the edges are just the edges straight off the sawmill
@@sawingwithsandy Awesome! I plan on doing the same but have had people tell me they won't butt up straight. Great news!
Any insulation under that felt paper if yes what are you using
Sandy used the pink stuff. Just a couple of videos ago, Sandy did a video on the installation of the insulation.
Did you use rough sawn lumber for your flooring also??
It is rough sawn as well
Thank you
