Hi Matt. Been refreshing your shows all morning. Everbody should, always learning. Matt Why not skip the belly slit. Start up top. Hook point first. no slot or very small. come around to the nose. Done No need for the belly slot. So much to learn & remember. Many Thanks
Brilliant! I've tried to accomplish that for a while but I could never get it quite right. You always give good advice, but this right here is a spot on!
All this tinkering you do inspired me to do some things as well. My ned rig hack is gaining some traction, but today I came up with a way to put a bobber stop *back on* the keeper. For when you want to redo your leader or whatever and you don't want to waste a perfectly good bobber stop. How do save it or put it back on the wire wheel thingy (I call it a keeper). And it was so simple. I was super proud of myself, until it occurred to me that you probably have 534 ways to do that, lol.
@@MattStefanFishing I just pass my line back through the wire and tie a clinch knot. Slide the bobber stop back over and presto! The trick is to do enough turns so you can have enough knot to cut, otherwise you might cut the wire. I used nail clippers.
Idk how I missed this 1 I watch every video u put out. I've been trying to learn how to fish a swim jig just not having much success yet but this will allow me to fish more of the water close to me thanks Matt keep up the great content 👍
Hey matt your like an encyclopedia on fishing tips .Good one gonna get some body to help me get on takle ware house so I can be using these tips. Wanted to comment yesterday man that was a good one.Appreciate.
What a share! Thanks! I have a bunch of hollow body swimbaits, but I never use them. I'll have to try this out. So is the name of this the Stupid Swimbait? lol. The SS Rig, or you can put your name on it, Stupid Swimbait by Stefan, the triple S.
I call it the stupid swimbait after the same technique being applied to the stupid tube. ive never seen anyone else do it so im sticking with the stupid swimbait.
Thanks for the advice. Swimbaits are not my confidence bait so I don’t go to it often. But I do have some hollow as well as solid style. I also carry around some of the big EWG hooks with the wide belly weight that rarely get used. Besides solid body swimbaits, what, if anything, could be some additional uses for those belly weight hooks?
Try Rage rigging- you just rig up a strike king rage tail craw or really any creature bait you like- it makes it fall horizontally instead of diving down head or tail first like usual. It's a great rig for working creature baits through grass on shallow flats. Especially if they're on blue gills- the rage bug rigged on a belly weighted hook is money.
@@stoneysdead689 Stoney, your tip reminded me of an idea someone gave me to use belly weighted hooks on 7” Senkos…it’s make them sink faster, which also gives them a lot more shimmy shimmy. So, I thought of some 91/2” V&M Wild Thang lizards that I have that never seemed right on a T-rig. The belly weight hooks gave them the perfect swimming action. Thanks!
I see you live in wisconsin, just curious do you do guide services? I live in wisconsin and am a bank angler saving for a boat and I really wanna know how to target fish in bigger lakes and know how and where to find em, videos only help you learn so much sadly
I told them I was going to catch fish with a nail clipper for the first time the other day and I was taking both giant Brooks and Rainbows. Lol. They still can't believe it after seeing it. My next task is I will catch bass and stripers with it. Lol. Should put it on film.

sounds like that should work as well!
Matt, this tip is top shelf. I will definitely be using it like I do with tubes. Thanks.
Glad to help

you can basically reverse the process...at least thats how i do it. or use a sewing needle

Matt, that's slicker than snot on a door knob. I see those Berkley baits come in 4,5, and 6 inch. Which size works best with that size jig head?
5" and 6"

Great rigging technique, the negative thing with the hollow belly was the hookup ratio!!!
Yes indeed!
Thanks for this one , super set up , I’m using this rig tomorrow in the grass
Good luck!
Excellent stuff as always. I'm gonna go try this out asap
Hope you enjoy
Great tip Matt love this
We have alot of trees and brush in the lake i fish

Definitely using this one! I can see this working out killer 🎣
it does!
Now I really need to stock up on my tube hooks.

That is some sweet advise on a great bait, thanks for the info!
you bet!
Matt, do you have a brand of tube jigheads that come with a heavier wire hook? Something comparable to a swim jig hook strength?
theres a bunch out there. this is one i like www.tacklewarehouse.com/Bite_Me_Tackle_Vertical_Eye_Tube_Jig_Heads_4pk/descpage-BTMETJH.html?from=MSFG
@@MattStefanFishing appreciate it!
Another great way of rigging plastics for bank fishing too!!
You got that right!
Awesome idea! I will be trying this
Go for it!
Rerun but it's the one I wanted. Thanks.

You the man! Great vid!
thanks!
Did you read my mind going to try hollow body next time out
go for it!
Good stuff Matt is there a benefit to go through the bottom? I do my slot on the top and it keeps you from having to push the hook through the top.
you can do either way. i prefer to go through the bottom so that i have more plastic to skin hook the hook. both work
Brilliant Idea Matt!!!🥇👊🏻 Now that I have the Stupid Tube Weights I can give this a try!! Stay Safe & God Bless!!!
Nice!

some people throw them on swimming worms

catching fish is more about locating than bait choice
what size swimbait are you rigging during the video?
6"
Great tip!
Glad it was helpful!
Good one, Matt
Thanks!
this tip is clutch
thanks!
What size hook for a 6inch shadilicious ?
5/0
Seems like this was the start of the tush swimbait hook
Kinda
Matt, super nice tip! So it’s officially a stupid swim bait. Lol. I love it
You got that right!
Have you been sneaking around in my bait barn, Matt??? 😂
No. but if you have a bait barn I want to check it out!
