This is great! This rang a bell, so I went to my photos that I took in 2016. My son met his future wife in the US where she had relocated yet she was raised in Weymouth where her family still lives. The wedding was held in Dorset UK. We stayed for 2 weeks and saw so many gorgeous places. We stayed at the hotel in Portland a few days along our journey. And yes, I have the photo of this lighthouse! Beautiful rendering as usual! I will do this, Thanks Harriet!
What a lovely painting! I would appreciate more landscape videos, especially of seasides 🙂. Thank you for your very helpful and inspiring tutorials, Harriet.
Thank you, Harriet, for this delightful piece. You’re so right in your advice - just take a snippet if you’re daunted by a full landscape ( as I am) and I’ll be giving this a go. 😁🙏
I love the idea of creating the arched shape to paint within. It could easily be done in a square or rectangle but the arch elevates the interest. I'm going to have to explore that idea further, I think.
Awesome! My cousin asked me to paint a lighthouse for her mother. I did. But now I want to paint another one for her. This is a great tutorial because of how you simplified it. Thanks for posting. Can’t wait to try it. PS. More vignettes please 🙏💙💙💙🌵🌵🌵
Harriet, Thank you very much for this lovely video. It looks fantastic! You give us the advice about painting a little vignette You really give us hope. We can have the feeling about how capable we can be to paint things. Thank you again.
Such a beautiful Art painting. I really found your technique interesting. As a Beginner, I found this fascinating. I would love to paint a picture like this. Thank you for sharing!
Hey Harriet! This is so charming! The finished painting looks so detailed and complex, however your execution and explanation drills it down to manageable steps. I love it! Thank you so much!❤️
This painting was AMAZING!! I loved the smaller vignette painting, definitely more approachable for us beginners! Love your teaching and I still continue on supporting you on Patreon!! Thank you!
I really enjoyed this, thank you. I must try adapting your technique to have a go at painting my fave Happisburgh lighthouse in Norfolk, another classic red and white one. I've tried in the past but totally (& unnecessarily) overworked it! Subtlety is a must obviously 😀 x
I feel like an idiot. I made it to middle age thinking that portland stone comes from around Portland, Oregon. 😳 Who'd have thought that I'd get geography lessons from you as well! 😂
You can now buy the exact same brushes that I use in my videos in my Etsy store! www.etsy.com/uk/shop/deWintonPaperco
I love the simplicity of this piece! I have wanted to do more skies and this might be the little inspiration I needed. Thank you, Harriet!
You are so welcome!
Enjoy the simplicity . Can't wait give it a try. Thank you for putting out here to inspire.
You’re welcome!
So pretty! I’d love to try the painting, but I’d love to visit even more! Thanks for another great tutorial.
You are so welcome!
More of these Harriet, love the little landscape studies. The OCD in me wanted so badly to remove the green from the bottom right! 🙃
haha! Oh i know!
What a fun place to land. Would enjoy trying this tutorial....... I like this simple vignette too.
Welcome Karla!

Thanks so much Pippa!
Very nice, could you give sizes in inches too, please?
I'm afraid you'll have to interpret the centimetres for this one!
💙💜❤
Thanks Rose!

haha, always learning!
I tried this several times and can't get the grass to blend like you did. I looked like you did wet on dry but it bleeds better with wet on wet.
Sorry to hear that
@@deWintonPaperCo After several tries, I finally got it to work out. It helped to watch your video a few times.
