Thanks TYCLW! When I first started traveling, what I used was a Language Dictionary book. Then they came out with battery powered pocket translators, that you could flip through a list of words & Phrases, like "Where's the men's room" or "Where can I get water".
The batteries were just basic, easy to find AAA type. Then when the computers could translate words, I would type in sentences and hit translate, then have the computer read it out loud. That was tricky holding the phone to it! Then a company out of New York had a contract to provide translators to the military, that could talk the languages and it could take a picture of a page and translate it. I was glad when they made them to where they could use electricity from 100 volts to 240.
I look forward to trying the translators that easily fit into your pocket. Though the old original, the dictionary book doesn't need to be charged or batteries replaced and if it gets dropped out a window, it doesn't get broken! And if it gets wet, it doesn't get totally ruined, though it's some work to peel pages apart to dry. Plus, a lot of them fit into your pocket.
If I select Thai and English in the Google Translate app that I downloaded I can talk to anyone in pretty much any country so these devices need to be better than the app that I downloaded for free. I pick the language, talk into my phone then click play and it will play the translation into Thai, or whichever language to the person. These devices need to be better than that.
Also now that I am looking again, the Google Translator can scan writing and translate it and if you click instant then you just hold the camera up to the writing and the english will translate instantly on your screen over top of the local language. These devices really need to be better than that because Google Translate does all of it, and in spoken language not just text.
It would be most useful if a device only needs to capture the language and you only need to pick the language to translate into. For instance, if you are at an airport and many languages are being spoken, the translator only needs to have selected a language like English to translate into and not have to decide on the language to translate from as well. This would make it more user-friendly.
The next thing would be reading glasses that uses the google translate technology to translate written text into your language on the fly the way Google Translate does on your phone. Or even Contact lenses.
The Caripeloy and Buoth are basically Google Translate on a separate device. The Duteri with its instant translation and Bluetooth connection with the almost real-time translation is as close as you can get to perfect but it needs to be online which could leave you stranded in some places.
Which is where the dosmono comes in since they didnt mention it had to be online to work.
I would actually prefer this with your phone and google translate or the Time Kettle and Goggle Translate as a pairing to cover my bases but mostly, I already have google translate for free so unless these become perfect and everyone starts using only one of the systems, I will stick with Google Translate.
I just tried the app and it works great with Thai. Thanks! @clown192
yeah but I don't want to put earbuds into someone's ear I don't know.😮
😅😂😂😂
I think it's good for dating, or making close friends
It had a speaker mode , you use the airbud and the other person speak to your phone mic
I fail to see any advantage to your #1 pick. Who wants to just scan a few lines of text at a time? That seems really tedious and limited. Besies, the free google translator can translate entire page all at once, as can a couple of the others you reviewed. .
not all people will agree to put something inn to them hears
This is amazing. Is this device also available in Tajikistani voice? ❤
i never had ear buds that would not drop out or be uncomfortable but i want to converse hands off
most of the products in this video are not available at the links provided.
The most awesome channel ever!
I have found that they work great if your in a home or what ever that has Wi Fi, just walking outside they don’t work.
Amazing products.
I’m looking for one I speak into and it translates in audio and a screen that flips over that the person I’m talking to can see as I’m speaking
I have the#4 translator. It’s bad, offline. With Wi-Fi ok but stalls when using. It’s not worth $100 in Amazon. I wouldn’t buy it
Size of a normal pen…..😂😂😂😂 yeah right…..
You have never even held these things in your hands. You have no right to judge them.
It seems like the one with airbuds would give you real time translation.
Can someone explain how these translators are better than free google translator?
Apparently, Google translator goes off of it's own system of translation while these go off of multiple because normal people use dialects and slang. And although Google translator works okay, it doesn't always work unless yu know how to use it.
are there subscriptions? thats my turnoff on it if it does
Well no one is going to share an ear device with 1000000 people it's disgusting
Number 4 needed to have earbuds for sure 1 give it a 1 just for that. I can't be in church and make out side noise
Great Video.
Glad you enjoyed it
No. 4 and 3 seem like the same kind of thing...
Instead a separate device why not have it in an iphone
You're "chasing Santa in the wind"? You have "moose in your hair'?
I’d rather use my cell phone. Software will pay itself.
ONLY NOOOOOBS WOULD SAY THAT A PHONE IS A BETTER OPTION. FACT.
