You are a hell of a teacher! I'm 42, just starting to learn to play bass on an Aria Rsb deluxe from 1984, love the sound of that bass. Your own hand built bass is stunning. I will build a bass some day. I build speakers and tubeamps, audiophile and music lover I will definitely check out your stuff❤
Thank you for doing this ! I've been paying close attention to any music and videos from you and Evan Brewer to get the technique down. I'm starting to feel comfortable enough to start incorporating it ! I've recorded a few double thumping riffs on my band's latest album, it should be out soon. I'm definitely buying your book and I'll be watching the videos, thank you from France :)
Alex, you truly are a virtuoso and the most patient teacher. I appreciate your work and I’ve learned a lot from even the short time I’ve worked with you! Thanks again!
Awesome lesson Alex! I wonder how comfortable you are doing this technique without the ramp, and if you face any consistency issues? Personally I feel at times I dig too deep with the double thump, so I wonder if I'll feel it's easier once I have the ramp on the bass you're building me :P In general though your technique is quite unique and really stands out!
You can see this in some of my earlier videos but before I started using the ramp I just played over top of the pickup. Having the ramp, or another surface like the pickup, really does help with control.
@@AlexWeberBass Oh yeah I remember seeing you play like that on some of The Faceless covers you did :) Do you feel like practising the technique on the pickups, which are closer to the bridge on your basses (so higher string tension), helped make the transition easier being closer to the neck with the ramp? Or there isn't much of a difference for you?
I was gifted the book and I realized i need a ramp lol, meanwhile playing over my pick

Thank you, I really appreciate it. If you can build amps I’m sure you can build a bass!
Thanks a lot, Alex.
