sometimes its hard to believe this kind of stuff is on youtube for free. Thanks a lot chris legaspi :)
You're welcome! Glad it was helpful. Make sure you share this video so it can help someone else
Chris, I know this is a recent comment and hope you get it. Foremost I would like to thank you, for letting the cat out the bag. I have scoured many YT videos, tuts, PDFs and what not. Your instructions, are in my opinion, the most comprehensive I have ever come across!
I purchased your course and noticed how you labor over the skull, is just amazing. You have demystified the process of rendering, light and dark and the uses of Photoshop. Many thanks, hopefully you keep putting out stuff like, but in all reality, I am not sure that you could. The level of instruction could only by exceeded by the the dedication on the part of the apprentice.
Gracias,
I wasn't thinking of the separation of shadows and lights at all, until now.
You've changed the way I look at things completely.
Thank you glad it was helpful.
Thank you very, very much for sharing this real-time process with us! It's really helpful!
great quality stuff. You sold me on it. I've just purchased your shading techniques course and loving it
Thanks Pavel! Thank you for the feedback

I feel this has really helped. Thanks a lot!
Your line drawing was beautiful (haven't seen the rest of the video yet, but it's so clean, and pure and elegant). Great work
Thank you. Yes, I draw a lot! :)
Gosh, great video! I'm thinking about starting my own firm with my sister and we wanted to draw portraits for people. This was great help, thank you so much!
+kyatorin you're welcome. thank you for the compliment
Your right, the only time I heard of core shadows was in real books. Thanks for sharing.
+Beto Galvez yes good information is powerful :)
+Chris Legaspi And of course good instructors like yourself, thank you.
if you still have that deep (sub) mic noise. You can add a high pass filter with an EQ. Almost every audio edit software got one.
+Gökhan Bıyık thank you good tip.
WOW! Nice Tutorial.
Can you send me the link of the brush you used in this video.
the longer brush you used for transition.
Super useful, thank you!
You're welcome. Glad it was helpful
It would be interesting to see how you add colors the portrait, after you shade it.
Agree

Thank you!
This was nice learning.
thank you so much. Please share if it was helpful
Thank you for your videos.
Can you tell me what is type of brushes that you used in video ?
Thank you very much.
brushes? you mean photoshop brushes? Just a random set I made/organized. My shading brushes come with the course
A little late to the party but... Does anyone know how to use gradients in Procreate when shading in grayscale? I've recently purchased the Shading course from Chris (the process of shading is similar to the one in this video), but I'm trying to apply it in Procreate and I'm having difficulties finding how to do slight gradations (after blocking in the average light and average shadow). I've watched a few tutorials on how to use gradients, but it was either for a whole page on a different layer (which is hard to control for my specific areas) or the gradient maps (which creates different effects from my understanding). I hope I was clear enough and people still come around here. :D
happy your making stuff more frequently now i would your old videos everyday
i cant wait till i have money becuase i wanna purchase this!!!
Thanks! Yeah there's more coming too.
Thank you. ily
Welcome 😊
What do you think that is important when we choose the reference?
For reference the light most important. I like single source or 'spotlighting'.
Nice approach! Sadly there seems no way to be to purchase "Shading Techniques in Photoshop" without a credit card. What about paypal?
TheVaccini Thank you! At this Gumroad only accepts CC. If paypal were involved, it would cost more for the customer..
I know this kinda late but thank you so much
You're welcome. Glad it was helpful
Chris can you bring up the sound next time
hi amazing video, I want to buy your shading course but I am outside of US so my bank card doesn't work, is there any way I can purchase your shading training ? maybe direct bank transaction ?
Hi thank you! I'm not exactly sure how gumroad processes international purchases. I know credit card is preferred over bank/debit card.
Chris Legaspi
thanks a lot for your reply, unfortunately I have only a bank card (a german one) and gumroad only accepts credit cards, I really wish there was another way, but it seems that there isn't
TheIkarus93
well, except asking a friend who has a credit card :D
yes! :)
THANK YOU SOOO MUCH
You're welcome. Please share if it was helpful :)

looks like a good video but volume was too low, even with my ipad volume turned all the way up.
all your videos are well worth watching, howver, even with no sound
Thanks. This vid was a livestream recording. Not the best software for audio. The Shading course has HD audio.
What he's trying to teach us: There's a process, darkest dark... --- What I hear: chkchkchhhh
MY NIGGA
So, to break into movie posters, card design, etc, is photoshop, procreate, etc, the only thing companies are looking for nowadays? Is traditional two dimensional art no longer asked for?
The working traditional artists I know are thriving. The most successful poster artist in the world, Mike Butkus, works 100% traditional
are u pinoy...?
does that mean from philippines? i think so, if thats whats means he isn't
yes from bacolod city. Where are you from?
I get mistaken for everything except Filipino :) lol
Why would a graffiti artist not understand why values are important or that a value structure creates form? That's language they use every day. There's no reason to think they understand art less than you do
Snobbery... shame, shame!
