- HOW TO VISIT NEW YORK CITY ON A BUDGET// I explain you exactly how to travel to New York City if you are on a very tight budget or if you don't want to spend all your savings on this one trip. New York is an expensive city, yes. This doesn't mean that you have to necessarily spend a lot though. It is absolutely possible to enjoy the city and your trip while spending a modest amount of money. I was able to travel there for 10$ a day, so I'm the living proof that visiting NYC on a budget is possible!

Alexia! This is such a beautiful thought!! I wish you to be successful in finding a job and saving and take your beloved to NY. Where are you from?

A big tip I would give anyone going to New York is to research and plan . New York City is very overwhelming and if you go there without knowing anything you will be completely confused.

Love your show I love New yourk
I really enjoyed this video, very helpful and well presented. Great job Mary Jane!
Thanks a lot Karen! 🙂Are you planning to go to New York?
@@WhatashameMaryJane Yes! But, unfortunately, not until early next year. We're taking your advice and planning our trip for Jan./Feb. Keep up the good work! 🌟👍‼️
Just don't forget the reason why those months are not so popular for tourists is that it's usually very cold and if there's wind the cold becomes very unpleasant. So I suggest you to plan the right clothes too 🙂
Amazing 🎥👑
Of course You very welcome my new friend🎥💫
keep going !! ✨✨

Ahah thanks Fabio
This came right on time.. I'll be in nyc in a little under 2 weeks. 🙂
That's great! You're going to love it 😉 If you like what you've seen keep updated because I'm in NY right now and shooting several videos about the City. I have another budget tip video coming out on Sunday made in collaboration with a native Newyorker youtuber.
how was it??!
Hello !! This video is the first of yours that I've watched and I liked it. Your accent comes to me like Italian, true?
Yes!
Thank you so much for the precious informations... You are a delicious person! I will be in New York from Tuesday for one week...
You're welcome, enjoy your trip!
@@WhatashameMaryJane Thanks...which is the best between top of the rock, empire state building and one word observatory?
I don't know, I haven't been in neither of them. The one with the best view may be top of the rock because you can see the Empire State building, the most symbolic one is of course going on the top of the Empire State Building and to be honest I've never heard anyone talking about One World Observation Deck.
@@WhatashameMaryJane okay, thank you so much...I will go on the top of the rock and I hope it will be beautiful like your smile 😉
Met the love of my life online. She's from the UK. We'll be meeting in NYC for the first time in person, in April of 2020. Will also be our first trip to NYC. After almost 2 years of saving my money. Will be bringing my mom too, as she has always wanted to visit NYC. This video has been helpful in my preparation and I thank you for that :)
That's a beautiful story and I'm glad I can somehow help. I just want to give an advice: pay attention to cultural differences. If she's from the UK meaning that she belongs to a British culture, she would probably find very annoying and disappointing if when she can finally meet you in person you come accompanied with another person, especially if that's your mother. I also belong to the Western European culture and I can assure you that I would be very pissed if a man came to meet me with his mother. If she just lives in the UK and she's from a similar culture to yours instead, just ignore what I said. :)
I wish you good luck and all the best!
@@WhatashameMaryJane I appreciate the concern :) However, she is completely fine with the idea and actually excited to not only meet me, but my mother. I wouldn't just bring my mom without my girlfriends consent, as that would be kind of rude to put her in that position.
How did it go?
@@Scroney13685 Trip was cancelled because of the pandemic. I was sad, but oh well. It is what it is. Still happily with my gf though, just couldn't meet due to travel bans and all. Then financial situation got rough so currently saving back up to go to the UK.
@@MyNameCinema You should still go to NYC, with your Mom - to make your mom happy. Your UK girlfriend can join you there. Because of so many online romance scams, you should not risk going to the UK if you have not met your girlfriend in person. Be careful. Go to NYC with your Mom, and let your girlfriend meet you in NY -- your original plan. That way you can get your Mom's advice if there is any chance your girlfriend is out to scam you -- OR if she is a good, decent, honest person.
Thanks for this very informative video ! I am still thinking about visiting NYC for the first time.
Merci 😊
My pleasure :)
Wonderful video recap. Very nice and well explained. I like you accent 👍 but correction on 7/11 its actually 9/11😁.
Fantastic work 👍🏌️♂️
Thanks :)
Good video...thanks...
You're welcome 😉
This is probably the best cheap New York video I have seen. Great tips.
Now im relieved i dont need 5500$+a month to stay there for 2 months..
I'm glad it was helpful!
We all need a girl like her she a is a keeper💙💙💙
Nice video, greetings
Hey Mary Jane!
I'm planning to go to NYC on September and found this video very useful. However, I still have few questions:
1. Are there other recommendations for food (other than bagels and pizza) for less than 5$?
2. Did you prepack food (bought from the supermarket) like sandwich/salad?
Love your video! Warm greetings from Indonesia
Hey Ranita! Great time to travel to NYC ;)
1. Absolutely: Chinatown is the paradise of cheap meals, you can find meals for 1 or 2 dollars, crazy... Hot dogs at the street carts (you can see them everywhere especially in Midtown) are a good snack for $2. Chinese dumplings are usually 3.50-4 per portion and you can google on maps “Chinese dumplings” they are all over the place. I can suggest a good and cheap Japanese grocery store/deli that’s called Sunrise Mart, I always go to the one near 42nd for lunch when I spend the day at the NY Public Library, it’s really good. Then a typical thing for locals in New York (which I’m not a fan of personally) are the deli sandwiches. Deli or bodegas are corner shops that have a deli section and they make you sandwiches on the go for $4 to 7 usually or hot meals like chicken and rice. Good neapolitaner pizza pies you can find at Kesté Pizza e Vino in the West Village, each pie is only $5 and very good. If you want to try the typical fast food American hamburger I can suggest a local newyorker chain that is Shake Shack: the burger is maybe more around $6, but it’s worth trying. It’s fast food but way better that McDonalds or Burger King.
2. I personally never buy those kind of prepackaged food, but if you’re looking for ready to eat salads I’ve heard that at a grocery store called Trader Joe’s they have good choice and about other kind of prepackaged foods I suggest you that Japanese Sunrise Mart, I believe they have 4 different locations in Manhattan.
What a shame Mary Jane wow! Thank you so much for the awesome info. This is very helpful. By the way do let me know if you ever go to Indonesia (I would definitely love to host you!). Let’s stay in touch.
@@atinaraivilo Thanks Ranita :)

My pleasure 😊😊❤️❤️👍👍
Can i buy a Slurpee at the 7/11 memorial?
She's from Italy. There's a lot to remember.
@@andrenewcomb3708 I think she was just momentarily confused by the fact that in Italy the word for September is "settembre" and the word for 7 is "sette" (which derives from the fact that September was the 7th month in the ancient roman calendar, since they didn't have January and February and so it only had 10 months)
@@mattemod you put a lot of work into that
@@sarahmilner8483 I'm Italian, so I really didn't :D
Did you always speak English that well? Sounds great with the lovely accent.
Well, everyone who is not native has to start learning a language from scratch so my answer has to be no, my English has definitely not always been so good. :)
Thanks a lot! My question is, how can I get to Staten Island Ferry for free?

Do you know on average how much 2 people should save up to go to new york for a week? and what do you prefer airbnb or hotel and my last question is wheres the best places to stay when you will be attending broadway shows.
Yes I do and already made videos about it! I tackle the topic in here ruclips.net/p/PLLn9YKWH2mmRxlZ3luqheHPNnduxD_6b1
Love you
This is awesome. You rock! Beautiful eyes
jose uribe Thank you! Where are you from?
Good
It’s $2.75 - in the USA we put the dollar symbol first and unless you are talking about thousands of dollars, you use a period instead of a comma - and by the way, Manhattanites will walk 10 or 20 blocks!
Thank you for the explanation Kathleen. Since I'm not from the USA though, I guess it's ok to write 2,75 as most of the countries in the world do. I know that Manhattanies walk a lot, now that I'm staying in Manhattan for a few months I do too :) But this video is dedicated to people who travel to NYC, so definitely not inhabitants of the city.
Love the video however, as a local I will say a lyft or Uber is not that cheap. It will take $30-45 to get to borough to borough. But love the video!
Kamran Ali Hello Ali, thanks for your comment. I gave the price based on the costs I have in my app’s history. I should have maybe mentioned that at night the price increases a little bit. But this is the average price I paid in all the rides I’ve taken. Of course I pay attention to when I decide to call a car: if the journey is very long I opt for the subway even if I’m very tired. The routes I use for a car service are the same length I showed on the maps in the video and I checked the price on the apps before saying it in the video.
Kamran Ali I do agree that if you leave from Flushing and you go to the LES the price is going to be waaay different :)
@@WhatashameMaryJane Yes at night it does get expensive lol!
You’re right you’re right. I should have mentioned it. Do you live in NY? Which neighborhood?

On a $10/day budget you'd better buy nip bottles from the liquor store and stay away from happy hour. Central Park Summerstage offers free concerts all summer.
Never been to Central Park Summerstage, I'm checking out their program right now. great tip thanks!
Hopefully you never become in danger and try dialing 7 11. 😊
