To be fair, the English accent (and for that matter, the English language) spoken by Robin Hood would bare virtually no resemblance to any English accent or dialect existing today, making Cary Elwes' accent not one iota more authentic than Kevin Costner's.

V from V for Vendetta is probably something MAD like College of Swords Bard and Kensei Monk, since he has his ‘bloody knives’ and ‘fancy Karate gimmicks’ as well as that alliterative poem when we’re first introduced to him and he’s generally pretty good at everything.
If you want to be a bit more focused and combat-oriented, Hunter Ranger is a good replacement since Favoured Foe scales up to a D8, Whirlwind Attack is the best anti-horde option, Multi-Attack Defence provides a good buff to AC and you don’t need Charisma as much.

Would you count Marvel vs Capcom as canon with the X-men comics?
Would you count Kingdom Hearts as canon with Sleeping Beauty?
      Same reasons.
It is too far from the spirit of the original work to be a part of the meta franchise.
With Space Jam, and Space Jam 2, they tend to lose the 4th wall breaking nature of the characters, the vaudvillian mayhem, and sometimes the personalities IN FAVOR of the misplaced conceit of family entertainment.
I KNOW, it sounds like I am in massive denial, but think of how the JJ Abrams Star Treks are just action movies with star trek characters rather than start trek stories with action in them. Same distinction. You can put anything on a pizza, but if you lose the cheese and the sauce you got just ugly garlic bread. There needs to be a core to the art form that gives it the identity.
Frankly, the Looney Tunes in the Space Jam films feel all of a lot more like the Smurfs or the Care Bears: a village of family friendly characters rather than the anarchistic egotists fighting for the spotlight like they are in a majority of there shorts that form their legacy. More the watered down 1970s TV Special than the 1950s witty icons.

Btw, in many myths, Robin Hood is known for engaging in hand to hand combat as well, often with something like a staff. So if you’re going for a fable-accurate character instead of a Disney-accurate, grab a quarterstaff as a backup weapon. This also puts your more melee based class features to use.

Episode 321 of the Fire Emblem stats: Robin Hood.
Robin's the biggest swashbuckler to not be a pirate, so it's a no-brainer that he's good with bows, swords, and authority as leader of the Merry Men. He's bad with both types of magic since he's a normal human/fox and brawling since that's more Little John's forte.
He is great with charisma, dexterity, and luck but has bad speed and magic.

How to build: The Demoman From Team Fortress 2, the Black Scottish Cyclopes with Explodes into DnD.
    Theme: Wellerman
    goals:
    1. Bombs: What makes you a good Demoman, well that kind of goes without saying. Invest some spells to lay some explosive traps or grenade quality attacks. call it Celtic magic.
    2. DemoKnight: Speaking of Celtic, charge into the mobs with a sword that craves heads. Your not a tank, your melee should be received after you peppered foes with your magic spells, (IE: Cast and Slash). Plus what's more terrifying than a drunken Scotsman? Drunken SwordsScot.
    3. Scrumpy: For you Happy Hour is every Hour, it's no surprise sobriety isn't in your vocabulary. A drunken build is the best way to play the game and putting some stock into you coordination and speech may open the door for some creative sessions.

I have 2 Firsts for you - one is a Race, next is a Subclass.
Let's build the Disney version of Prince John.
Background, Noble. Race - Leonin. Class, Barbarian-Fighter Multi-Class.
Stats from High to Low - Strength, Constitution, Dexterity, Charisma, Intelligence, Wisdom,
Noble - Grants History and Persuasion (Actually, swap Persuasion for Deception)
Leonin - Grab Intimidation. Also get d4 claw attack and a Roar, plus 35 foot movement.
Level 1 - Barbarian - Grab Athletics and Animal Handling. Get Rage, Unarmored Defense.
Now, 2-20, Go Fighter. For fighting style, get Dueling or Unarmed Fighting. At AsI points, grab Tavern Brawler for proficiency with improvised weapons, and then up Strength, Constitution, and then Dexterity.
As for the Subclass, go Purple Dragon Knight. Funny enough, this fits Prince John to a T - Heals allies (Reflavor that as yelling at them to get back into the fight), Proficiency (or rather Expertise) in Persuasion. Encourage allies to make additional attacks (the whole "Shoot him!" scene). Not sure where Bulwark would fit, but there's some potential.
Strengths - Hard hitter, plenty of HP, Good at Charisma stuff.
Cons - Not that smart, is going to miss disguised criminals.
But, for his weaknesses, that's where Courtier Yuan-Ti Pureblood Rogue/Bard multi-class Sir Hiss comes into play, noticing that which Prince John fails to. Oh, and don't forget the Sheriff of Nottingham.

Warforged in that edition have all their construct perks attached to their (living construct) subtype.
Incarnate construct doesn't touch subtypes and gives you two extra levels to play with.
Warforged armor is tied to feats, so you take an armor feat to be living machinery.
Lycanthropes cost three levels and let you turn into an animal, but your feats function while these animals. This means your animal form is armored up.
End result is you play a Beast Wars transformer character as if they were level 2+, and go from there.

Robin Hood! I've considered building him before so my guess for the build will just be what I considered. Most levels are in Battle master fighter, which gets you the raw damage as well as tricksy tactics to use, some levels in Swashbuckler Rogue to add sneak attack and even more damage and dodging, and finally Hunter ranger for even MORE damage with favored enemy and hunters mark along with being good in forests and what not.

I love how Tulok videos really highlight that the Ranger class is still in need of revision. Everything the Ranger should be good at, another class does it better. A druid multiclassed with a fighter or a rogue would basically be the ultimate Ranger, no Ranger levels required. They need to completely overhaul the Ranger class (not just an update to make it a little better than bad, but a true ground-up reworking that compares better to other classes).

Yes but modern corporate mercantilism is indistinguishable from the system of titled "nobles" and "lords" of the day.
It's an important distinction between private tax evasion of capitalism and ruling class tax evasion of corporate mercantilism.

    • @oggolbat7932
      @oggolbat7932 2 года назад

@@ixelhaine I'd argue not every capitalist is equivalent to a noble. The guy who owns a bakery or a café is far from being a noble.
I'd even argue that any big company CEO is completely different from a noble. For one, you are not obligated to work for him and two, even if you worked for him you still recieved a salary. Farmers of old were obligated to relinquish their harvest because the lord declared the ownership of the land. The farmers could only eat the minimum necessary to keep farming.
Of course paying taxes then and paying taxes now is very different, but i still find funny the comparison between the nobility and the bourgeoisie, when It should be between the nobility and the state.

I didn't say that capitalists were equivalent to nobles, I said corporate mercantilism is functionally equivalent to nobles, in that they have a relationship with the State of mutual empowerment as the Ruling Class to the exploitation of the Working Class.
Capitalism, by definition, is the control of the means of production outside the State/Ruling Class dynamic. are there semantic differences between classical mercantilism and modern corporate mercantilism? Yeah.... But does it really change anything? Not really.

    • @oggolbat7932
      @oggolbat7932 2 года назад

@@ixelhaine Feudalism and capitalism are VERY different things, you can't just say that it doesn't change anything.
Firstly, capitalism allows the collective owning of means of production. You can perfectly make a business in equal parts and divide the benefits equally between all the workers. It just doesn't happen because is very difficult to convince 30 people to go all or nothing in a business that they have to spend their money and time on, and success is not guaranteed.
Secondly, feudalism doesn't allow peasants to ascend in the social hierarchy, it didn't matter how strong, intelligent, or expert in its craft a farmer was, it could never stop being a peasant. But in capitalism you can ascend in the social hierarchy, as well as descend if you don't manage well your money or you're simply unlucky.
Of course capitalism isn't perfect, but is a great improvement from feudalism.
