true the bmw m car is so fun for drift and track but man if i buy an m2 i would drive it like this guy is doing. id be too scared to drift the car however im so willing to learn that. but yh i think alot of ppl buy those cars and not use them as sports cars they just have fun with acceleration and sound of exhaust and im one of them.
I work at Carmax and I’ve been able to drive a wide variety of cars and I can honestly say I love the m2 (manual). My favorite cars I’ve driven (in order)
1- C7 Z06
2- 2018 M2 (manual version)
3- 2017 M5
4- ZL1 1LE
5- Lexus RC 500

Try driving a M2 competition....it’s the “real’ M2...it’s what I have...405hp s55 engine in the M3/M4
Mark Strong I’ve been there around 6 months and we’ve only had 1. It had 2,xxx miles and was definitely on a track course before we got it because all 4 tires were gone 😂.
Berkeley Bruin shoot I’ve driven 3 M2s in the past 6 months, one of them was probably a competition 😂
1 - it's not a 0-60 car. It's a canyon carver.
2 - there is sport plus mode u missed that sharpens throttle even more and that relaxes traction control. And you can turn off traction completely.
3- the DCT is the best auto on market outside Porsche PDK. It shifts very quickly no matter your foot. Something is wrong.
4 - if all you care about is sound and 0-60 times then yes buy a cheap muscle car from 'merica

He didn't seem to know how to use a dual clutch trans, doesnt understand what an M2 is good for, seemed confused about alot of simple things a "car reviewer" should know....maybe i need to start a car channel if they let anyone do it ;) joking...but seriously!

lol Stop. I have driven the AMG Gts and the down shifts are almost as quick as the up shifts.
I'm not fan of BMW or M2, but the lesson I learned from this video is American dragsters don't get it.
Moans the shifts are slow, doesn’t drive the car in it’s fastest shift mode.
RP Productions I drive a Charger Hellcat and used to have 2017 SS1LE. I've driven the M2 and the M2 Competition and both are amazing drivers cars. My 1LE did handle better than both M2s BUT I felt more confident in the M2 while driving Willow Springs. I lapped faster times with the 1LE. BMW M cars just feel surgical and give a feeling of attachment I cant get from other cars. I haven't driven the new C8 so I cant compare the 2 but the M2 is dam near perfect drivers car. Keep in mind the M2 Competition has completely different motor from the standard M2. The N55 is in the M2 and S55 is in the M2 Competition. The S55 with just a ECU tune can make 550hp to the wheel the same motor found in the M3 and M4. RUclips didnt lie to you , you just got the M2 completely wrong.

@@fzr1000981 The ZL1 1LE blows the doors off of 2021 Cayman GT4 on the track By 2 seconds at Big Willow. Ive driven the 2017 GT4 it was a great car but the ZL1 1LE is something special .
Yep I have a ZL1, just wish it had a bigger blower that didn't heat soak
@@fzr1000981 You must have the standard ZL1. The 1LE should have no heat soak issues. You can get the blower ported and put a bigger blower in the stock housing.
Both engines and sc's are exactly the same. Intercooler bricks are too small. Many have upgraded to Magnuson 2650 which has no heat soak and massive intercoolers

I love the M2 and I’ve wanted one pretty much since they came out. That blue is awesome just like you said.
The BMW M2 has an overboost feature (12 or so seconds) but it only seems to work reliably in the Normal drive mode, not in Sport mode. My theory is that Sport mode causes the engine to blow air over the turbo to keep it spooled up to help throttle response, but that defeats the overboost feature. Anyway, in Normal mode, if you boot it (and after 2 seconds of turbo lag), the M2 rockets out of the gate. It's strange I know. Anyway I own a 2018 M2.
not trying to hate on your video but you may want to do a little research before doing a "car review". Pushing the button on the left stalk will bring a digital speedometer up. Also, there are three drive modes not two... Comfort, sport, and sport+. Keep in mind this is coming from someone who's owned a M2 for three days.
You got to put it in sport+ to feel the power and yes you feel the lag coz it’s a turbo charge not supercharger
theres a shift speed button you have to change it

This was a half fast review on your part. You essentially reviewed a scalpel but used it as a screwdriver and wondered why it was working so well. That car's balance at the limit is amazing, and such an experience. Shame, I'm a former miata guy and drive an 18 m2 and found that it was a nice switch while retaining a portion of the fun from the miata.
Screw all these cars, i just want a 392 charger

@@isaiahreid2143 I went full bolt-ons for around $2,000. Installed everything myself. You could probably add 30-40hp with headers/intake/exhaust but I guarantee you I would still win.

m2 comp
I was shopping for an M2 and got turned on to the ss1le. After a comparison it was a no brainer to go with the camaro. It's not the perfect car, but for the money you can't go wrong.
Three pedals, rear wheel driver, and a hand brake that’s all I need. So hard to find these days.
But the M2 comp you won’t regret it! I got one a month ago!

now go try the m2 competition w the s55 engine. the n55 in this older m2 has been used since 2010

Same money get a F10 M5...That car is jeckle and hyde. Its a limo, its a sports car. They are amazing and supercar fast. Good orig owner low mile ones are going quick. I know, I got one last year.
i think this car can do better on the track than a camaro ss , i think a bmw m2 is all about drift and track use

m2 comp is a completely different car
Best modern M is the 1M, only because it's more like the classic M3.
Drives nothing like a classic M3 , The E30 , E36 and E46 all drive completely different from the 1M. The 1M was the most tossable M car due to the N54 Motor. The 1M was pretty squirrely on the track but it supper fun. Your never going to break any track record with a 1M but it is absolutely 💯 pure FUN to drive.

Make sure you listen to the exhaust...if you havnt heard it.... it makes me giggle when i hear the S55 motor accelerate. Gives me the same level of enjoyment as when i see a fat guy riding a vespa.

the m2 competition is the one you want. it handles better and you get the S55 motor which is the one in the m3/4. with just FBO and e85 you're upwards of 550 wheel
RP Productions Great Review I think that was 2017 BMW M2 is Absolutely Gorgeous and I definitely agree that the Interior is way too simple for a BMW

For the used market price, I’d definitely go for the ATS-V over this M2 as i own one, its definitely also more fun than those Camaros.
M2 Competition is much sharper but Supra takes the cake! Driven them all on my channel.

Don't get me wrong the 1le is a great car but it doesn't smoke a GT 350 and its in the same level as a BMW M4 competition but not the current 992 Porsche 911. Maybe more on pare with the previous gen 991 Porsche 911.

I've driven it. Great machine.... but 4400 lbs?! AND 6 inches longer than a dodge Caravan?! And the WORST of it...No MANUAL option? Im on the M2CS short list.
@@briankiro976 , 4400 lbs..... that might be, but with over 600 bhp you don't really fill it, + you got the option to change from 2wd to 4wd, and auto with pedal shift is really better then the manual, now is different times, different generation. You just use to your manual, but when you will own one for more the 1 year, then you will understand

I will NEVER get past the fact that it is an automatic. I don't care if the Automatic is faster than the Manual, I dont make my money on the race track. A few seconds slower on a mile long track is well worth my enjoyment. My mother in law owns this car and She Loves it. I think its a great car... but i need a @3000 lb car with 450 hp RWD manual. Not a fast pleasure cruiser. I love BMW, dont get me wrong... M5 is just too big and heavy for the way i drive :) (and its automatic)

M5 still the best up there and can you please tell me any other competition BMW that can change from holligan 625 bhp 2wd to a family comfort mode with 4wd, m1, m2 , m3, m4 can't go from track day, to family picnic like the mighty M5 😉. If manual is your generation, like the e30, then live the new generation to enjoy it
