  • Video blogging about Sentry Safe and how easy its to break into one. For a Fire Proof and Water Proof safe that will survive through the toughest fire etc, it just doesnt seem to be Lock-Pick proof. Watch as i easily break into one using a item that you could find in your own house hold, and even at dollar stores or pharmacies. If someone ever stole this safe, they could easily steal everything thats inside it.

    Thank You for posting this. As someone who has taken preventative measures , knowing this info will only make my decisions even more informative. My Husband had lost the keys to his box. A lock box used to keep his medications out of the the hands of our small children. When he couldn't find the keys for a week I decided to look here for videos on how to break in to these boxes .This video was the first I watched .I showed my husband and within 5 minutes the box was open.SentryNotSoSAFEBoxes!

    I cannot describe how awesome you are! I've spent the better part of my day trying to break into this SAME safe, and never thought to use nail clippers. IT WORKED LIKE A CHARM!! Less than 5 seconds, and I was in! You're a lifesaver and saved me a TON of money! THANKS SOOOOOO MUCH!

    Breaking into a fire safe is like burning down a locked door and blaming the door for not doing it's job. The safe's job is to protect the files from fire, not from burglars. There are other safes that are designed for anti-theft, water-protection, etc. You can't blame the safe for not doing something it wasn't meant to do.

    I have to thank you so much. I have only one key, and it's on my car key chain. My parents borrowed my car and I was leaving town while they were gone. Ofcourse passports are inside the safe. I'm about to get a torch because the price to order a new set of keys almost cost more than the safe. This was so simple I really can't thank you enough! Great explanation leading up to the nail clipper.

      no problem man..... im glad i was able to help. originally, like i said in this video... i always wondered if people can pick this thing like the old school "paper clip" or "bobby pin" or what ever they called. and not to mention , people can lose their keys or what ever may happen... so i had to come up with a way to see if not only A, i was able to break in the safe... but B, while doing so... i wanted to know how good their locks were. sorry i took soo long to respond, but believe it or not... i finally just got a tablet/keyboard set up and now i can write AND respond to alot of the comments on here. i'im also coming up with some new ideas to post on here, so im probably thinking of making up a new RUclips channel. but i'll let you guys know whats up. ANYWAYS... please subscribe if you already havent, and share this video with other friends and family... and let me know what THEY think as well. Thanks for watching (:

    This is not a burglar safe by any means, it is meant to protect small items from fires, and in some cases water, not from burglars, in any way shape or form. There are different types of safes, and this one is for protection from fire and water, maybe a 1 year old, that's it, nothing else.

    As another commentor pointed out, this unit is merely a strong-box. If you're looking for a security box, you probably want Sentry's F2300 model. It has one of those cylindrical key-locks, and it is both fireproof and waterproof. It doesn't have a carrying handle though (which would make things easier for a would-be thief), so be careful not to drop it on your foot, as it weighs about 35 pounds! One of my co-workers dropped one of these on her foot and was semi-incapacitated for quite a while.

    Sentry safes with a key are for fire safety of your documents, only. If you want total security, you must have a combination lock and a very heavy safe that cannot be moved along with having the fire safety feature.

    • @billredding2000
      @billredding2000 4 года назад

      True...MOST people don't seem to understand AT ALL what these safes are for and how they should be used: Put inside larger (and serious) STEEL safes (aka: RSCs, lie my Sturdy Safe model 2419) for security. These are ONLY for fire protection, and the lock is ONLY to keep the lid closed so it can fuse/melt to the safe body when it's in a serious fire.
      While Sentry shouldn't be calling these "safes" -- it causes confusion -- the main problem is people are so clueless...

    Great tip for people who are locked out of the safe. The thing with that model is that its meant to keep your belongings safe from fire and water damage. If anyone was to break into your house they would just carry the thing out and take their time 'cracking' it open.

    I have one 0of the black sentry lock boxes with a lock plus a combination then it has a dial that you turn to lock and unlock it.
    I was able to get into the thing using the flat part of the nail clipper that has the little hook on the end of it.
    Very good video!

    I agree with others regarding the lock, that's more of just a closing option and not meant to be high security feature. I would have like to have seen if the box is fire and water proof as they rate it.

      +Dale Baranoski Just like I said to someone else, it's a SAFE. I have the box to mine right here, they recommend using it to secure valuables from theft. Most people buy this not because they are worried about fire or water but to keep people from getting into their stuff.

      +Nick Zisterer Then why does it come with a keyed lock and not just a latch?

    • @lolitsmexd
      @lolitsmexd  8 лет назад +3

      NICK, i appreciate your comment. Definitely opens up for a debate. After watching other videos from the same model being under fire for long period of time, and seeing the outcome of these types of safe... YES, it does protect from fire and keeps everything intact. I havent found any tests of what happens to this safe underwater... HOWEVER, this safe on the BOX itself says "privacy, fire, and water". So in this case, i would have to take in consideration that PRIVACY means "no one can access|" and which there is a lock for a reason. This safe, like i showed in the video.... have a ANTI-FISHING protector from trying to slide cards, screw drivers, and etc. However, the lock itself is not good at all. Why make a lock that can be opened with almost any flat object, such as a nail clipper. But thats just my opinion. Not saying your opinion is wrong.... pretty much was just trying to express my opinion based on your comment to my video. please feel free to point out anything i have said you might think its wrong. Again, thanks for watching. (:

    pretty much every lock and padlock has the same flaw, they can be 'jiggled' open with a thin tool, even the more complicated ones can be opened in the same way or picked easily. even the combination locks with the numbers, they are worse and even easier to open, you don't even need a tool or to know the combination to open them.

    For those of you who keeps posting on my walls that the safe was ment to just "keep files from fire.... etc" well, actually i would never expect my house to catch on fire, being that there are 2 kids living in it AND the house has all types of safety due to the kids. I looked at this safe more as a "i dont want no one going into it" deal. So for that matter, if i was able to get into the safe, im sure others would find ways to get into as well. Not to mentioned that my whole life never had a home robbery until few years ago and i lost all my ps3 games and electronic gears. Soooo, if a safe doesnt sell its own lable "SAFE", then i dont think it should be called "SAFE" if it can get broken into with a $.99 cents nail clipper.

    As others stated, it's mainly just for fires, not security. If they say security, they mean only basic security (yes, there are different levels of security based on the threat). After all, you don't make safes for security that you can just pickup and take with you with one hand...

    if you truly have something of value that you want to put in a safe, you're certainly not going to put it in a 30 dollar safe. this particular safe is just for petty stuff you want to protect from fire and water. things like the deed to your house, birth certificates, and social security cards. not that those things aren't of great importantance. anyway, this was a great video and people definitely needed to know about this shit.

  • @RyanPMaxey
    @RyanPMaxey 11 лет назад

    They are all easy to get into.... They aren't even meant for security, that line is fire protection, and the lock is meant to keep it private; people in your house.. If someone robbed your house, they'd take the whole unit, and it'd be the same no matter what little sentry safe you have. If you want a security safe, you need one that is bolted down and can't be easily carried by several grown men.

      You sir are wrong. This specific one is a cash box. What's the point of having a cash box if you can't keep it secure. Sentry Safe makes junk safes and all of them have a simple way to open them.

    It's a wafer lock the pins are set when its locked, you need a screwdriver and a rake

    These are only meant to protect paper documents against fire at a maximum temperature for an hour, and the water the fire department uses to extinguish a fire. They're not meant to protect against burglary or theft. A burglar would simply pick it up and carry it off by the handle to open it later at his convenience!

    I mainly have my Box to HOPEFULLY Protect My Papers in the Event of a Fire. I'm not in to Jewelry ( lucky Hubby ;) ) so it's just for my House Papers. WOW I could Believe How easy that was to get into :(

    I just opened mines up with the finger nail clippers & the problem is that I don't I'll ever find the keys again. Because I had both of them together instead leaving the copy in my pocket or some where like inside of an old book.

    it's for documents and such that one would not want to lose in a fire. It's a $20 safe.

    Dropping it on its corner pops them open after a couple tries. These definitely are not good for burglaries, these are really only good for fires. Buy yourself a true safe, at a minimum of $250 if you want any protection. Even then safes are only to slow down the robbers, every safe can be broken into given enough time and tools, the safe is there to slow them down. Also don't get electronical safes, they have lots of force entry points. Save some money and just get the combination lock with the added key you need to unlock.
    The electronic safes are convenient, but they're just as convenient for the robbers.

    I don't know about you, but after watching this I would NOT use it for any kind of artillery. I'm still investigating it's "fireproof-ness" right now, but will be using it for that reason. My music hard drive is worth a lot to me, and while it's not stealing I'm afraid of, it's definitely the threat of fire damage that scares me.

    Our home was broken into, rhought our valuables would be protected, well they were not. All three of our safes were easily broken into. The ones with plastic fronts wer easily boken open and even the other large one had the key hole pulled right out. So sad and heartbreaking
