    Very Good video there James. And the first one comparing EXACTLY what I'm looking to see. Grateful you took the time to put this together. It really allows those of us who are going to debate an entry level setup and a higher entry or mid-level setup to hear the differences.

    Thanks for the video. Just realise using the audio output from these audio interfaces will already be better sounding then directly from the laptop/desktop even non-recording situations.

    Also a huge benefit of the UAD Apollo is that you don't need a cloud-lifter for dynamic mics or a headphone amplifier for high fidelity headphones. It's got enough power for all of that.

    An awesome comparison video, James. 😆👍👍
    Personally, of the 3 audio interfaces I vastly prefer the sound quality from the Apollo Twin followed in at a close second by the Audient ID4. 🎧🎤
    Cheers to you, my man! 🍻

    Great Video James!
    Random Question about your Yellowtec Mika - Did you soldier the XLR connectors on yourself, or do you have any recommendations on local company’s here in the North West of the UK 🇬🇧 that can put the connectors on? Only asking as I’m planning to get a Yellowtec Mika next week!
    Best Wishes,
    Dan 😎

    Hi James, great video! Very informative. I just subscribed. Do you think it would be possible to output line out from a Zoom H8 directly into my Sony a6300 external mic jack to use for the audio on our live stream? I use an elgato cam link type hdmi capture device to go from the Sony camera to the computer. I was hoping that I would be able to get 4-6 shure mics into the Zoom H8>line out to mic in on Sony a6300>HDMI out of Sony a6300 to capture device and into PC for livestream.

    Hey man, why not use unison preamp on the UAD console? That would definitely make it the superior product. Try the API visions with the limiter on it. Also an 1176 compressor..

    • @JustMamba

      Motu hands down. The noise floor and latency put them up there with 1000 dollar interfaces plus motu is a well trusted, reviewed company in the music industry.

    James I am about to buy a Rode Podcaster Pro mixer would you recommend it over the ones you reviewed here

    • @AudioInsider_YT
      @AudioInsider_YT  3 года назад

      Depends what you need it for. I have both, but seldom use the Rodecaster at home. If you just want to record really high quality audio - I'd say the preamps in the Audient and UA interfaces are better than Rodecaster. I've never been hugely blown away by the processing built into RODE - it's not bad though. Rodecaster obviously is a mixer too - so you can have multiple channels, connect your phone plus it's portable so can record to direct to an SD for on location so it just depends on your requirements.

    So is the cloudlifter not necessary when running the Shure into the Audient id4? Or, would you say it would beneficial? Considering trading up from Scarlett solo and already have a cloudlifter.

  • @Paul-im5xo

    To use the plugins do you have to use a DAW that supports the plugin format or can you apply it to the signal before it hits the windows audio channel therefore can use it with a software that doesn't use plugins like Filmora X? Sorry it was not clear to me.

    • @AudioInsider_YT
      @AudioInsider_YT  2 года назад

      Yes it definitely has the mic preamp with the least gain. Depending on which mic you're using, you can always use a fethead or cloudlifter to boost this up.

    i was thinking about getting two rode podmic dynamic microphones and the focusrite Scarlett 2i2 2x2 USB Audio Interface (3rd Generation) for a two person podcast, would that work ? I also heard I might need a cloudlifter, but I’m still new to podcasting so Im not sure.

      With the built in plugins, the Apollo is definitely the more versatile choice. However, I completely agree that the Focusrite and Neumann combo sounds great.

    I have an Audio Technica XLR AT2020 and it always has a very scratchy sound to it, any yelling or screaming sounds very scratchy and then with compressors it sounds very flat. I am using a cheap Behringer interface and wanting to upgrade to a Apollo interface. Do you think the interface change will change the audio quality or do you think I need a new mic?

    • @AudioInsider_YT
      @AudioInsider_YT  3 года назад

      Can’t comment on the AT 2020 as haven’t used it myself but think it’s widely regarded as a good choice.
