    I think my favorite part is watching the unexpected success stories, like that ewe that was so scared turning out to be a great mom & Oops-Daisy being a wonderful mama even though she's _so_ young. It's amazing watching the power of motherly instincts!

    SUGGESTION FOR A SHORT:
    Use one of you Ewe's and clip together a life span.
    Like Popcorn as a new lamb, then her at weening, then her 1st breeding, & her lamb.
    I know you are really busy right now.. but dating & showing the cycle would be a fantastic summary watch & education.

    Oh, those ewe lambs have been responsible for so many broken noses, ran teeth through lips, broken teeth and a multitude of walking funny for a few days. Lambing ewe lambs is a Full, contact sport. Nice to have them late spring, after planting. All the weird stuff happens when there isnt a soul around. What a great time to lamb.
    P.s. What's to become of Daisy? She's an excellent first time momma, to the surprise triplets. Despite her age, what a sweet surprise, she is.

    • @Meydoosa
      @Meydoosa 2 года назад +2

      Daisy will be incorporated into regular breeding rotations mostly likely. The babies obviously can’t because who knows who the daddy is? He was obviously a 📯y teenager though…

    • @jillmclane256
      @jillmclane256 2 года назад

      @@Meydoosa I had a large flock of Polypay and Booroola Merino, myself. I was hoping to get a response from Sandy, on how she handles this. Happy mistakes, or nope? These oopsies make you re-think your plans. With the triplets she is highly likely to carry a gene that is desired. But... Sandy hadn't vaccinated her, which is why I asked. For instance, Booroola have an F gene mutation that can occur, that gives a propensity of triplets. I would keep a ewe lamb that did this, unless there is something in her pedigree that would be an undesirable characteristic, that I was weeding out.

    • @suedavies6743
      @suedavies6743 2 года назад +4

      @Jill McLane, Daisy is from the group of ewe lambs that Sandi has already decided to keep as replacement ewes, that's why she was moved back to the big barn from the finishing barn across the road. It was a surprise that she gave birth because of her age (Sandi typically doesn't breed ewe lambs until 10 - 12 months of age. Daisey is about 9 months) and because the group she's from hasn't been officially moved into one of the rotating breeding groups yet (because of their age). So Sandi had already made the decision to keep her, she just didn't expect her to be pregnant because she wasn't intentionally bred yet. I'm not positive but Daisy may have been part of Red's group that was just moved back to the big barn recently in vlog 584 ruclips.net/video/2JZ9U4QhQZU/видео.html . I hope that makes sense.

    • @Meydoosa
      @Meydoosa 2 года назад

      @@jillmclane256 this is why she prefers to keep Rideau sired ewe lambs…they have the higher potential for multiples. If you watch previous videos, the ewe lambs (Daisy’s group) did get some vaccines, but not all and not before they were bred. This is why she has to vaccinate the babies directly. There’s no immunity to pass on in the milk. Oh and Sandi has said previously she reads comments but doesn’t typically reply. At best, you might get a heart reaction on your comment. That’s why I answered your question. I knew the answer from previous vlogs and watching her on Instagram. Sorry I bothered you with my reply.

Folks with litters of puppies where one expects them to all look alike (Golden Retrievers, Labs if the breeding produces just one color, and many others) will often use little color coded collars for the same reason. Being able to get data on each one of the babies can be very helpful; it can meaningfully advise future decisions. I do think using a,b, and c, or different specific marks would work with Sandy’s system.

    Yay! You're dropping wool off at Mariposa which means I might be able to buy the black "Billy" dryer balls that I've been wanting.

    We’ll, lambing started off a little crazy as usual. So glad it’s here again! It’s seems like forever since we had baby lambs. 💕💗💞 It looked like the brown faced mama stamped her foot at Sandi. Lol!

    A familj member raises cheep here in Sweden. It's so fun so se the differences in raising sheep in both countries. The fundamentals is the same but still. He actually watches you to. I started talking about a RUclipsr/farmer I've seen and he just asked if it was you. I mean the dude is old! I didn't think he actually knew what RUclips was 🤣🤣🤣 a small world.
    I enjoy watching all of you're content. Not just the fun easygoing stuff but actually the sad, hard things to. Not every part of life is a breeze.
    Keep til up!! 🐕🐏🐑

    Is so interesting seeing the different equipment you use for your hay. I grew up on a small farm (no sheep). Hay bales galore. We used to have a large round baler and when we got rid of it my grandfather's favorite joke was, "we had to get rid of the round baler because th free cows couldn't get a square meal."

    I love the feedback you give yourself and share with us. Like how the 20 acres seemed to be the sweet spot for a multiple of reasons. It's easy for me to get distracted with trying to get as much done as possible or doing things in a certain order. Often though things flow better, and I remember all the steps better, if I find a sweet spot like that. Efficiency is just push push push, it's more like labor = push and rest, push and rest.

    Sandi maybe you should have a box of gloves at the far end of the barn or a box of lmbing bits aswell to save your hands, seeing as they seem to often lamb up at the back.

    My great Aunt used to tell me she made colostrum with cows milk mixed with beaten chicken eggs . And if any Weed had excess milk she would mix it in. And she rarely lost a lamb on that mixture. Given to every lamb born immediately

    First of all, I love your vlog. I just love watching you help Mother Nature when need be and share the joy of watching these babies and mom bond (most of the time)
    I was wondering how Jess is doing these many months after her surgery.
    Also, Sandi, would you explain to us city folk the difference between the types of sheep. Thank you and know I keep you, Mark and all farmers in my prayers for success and safety.
