Wouldn’t a highly-trained professional assassin know that he’d only lose the element of surprise? The package is a kind of a black box thingy, from a helicopter or a plane, possibly. The record there is done using a thin metal tape, in similar way as magnetic tapes were used couple of decades ago. The point is - they are made to be very hard to destroy, break or spoil. On the other hand, it is totally plausible for Steven "Judo Chop" Seagal to damage a metal tape just by looking at it. Who knows?

2:03 Sam Raimi could have pulled off a shot like that and made it look legit (and gonzo wacky-go-nuts a go go)!
3:09 / 5:56 / 9:34 Gotta admit, I kinda dig it. Like an early '90s European music video style of editing. Like Front Line Assembly's 'Mindphaser'.
    5:05 Win some, gain some.
5:25 So he's gunzerking with a pair of pistols, one of them has a sound suppressor (why only one of them, otherwise why akimbo?), and why is he holding them so loosely?! Show some discipline, greenhorn! Like Sorter from 'Revolver'.
5:28 Did he wait til that moment to cock that gun?! And did he Sarah Connor that do0mstick one-handed first?!
7:30 Extract that stock, greenhorn! This movie has some pretty cool Eastern European guns in it, including a few that we don't see too often in movies.
9:44 Who actually wears glasses like that? Well, maybe Teddy Roosevelt, but his actually fit his face.
10:17 Looked it up on IMFDB. It's a PM63 RAK (though he was using a PM84P Glauberyt earlier). This happens to be my niche and I didn't recognize that thing! Both the PM63 and the PM84P are Polish. He's firing it '90s gangsta style with the stock collapsed. A true professional would unfold the stock, shoulder the weapon, and aim using the sights. The reason it looks backwards is because of the way the slide reciprocates. That, plus it fires from the open bolt. You don't see too many open-bolt guns that have a slide.
Note: I just notice CrimsonFucR beat me to it. Btw, Ian McCollum of Forgotten Weapons did some test firing with a PM63: ruclips.net/video/GqiNnfi2Z3A/видео.html
13:22 EXACTLY what I was thinking!

Seagal thought it was like flirting so he went to her house, the same house he went to three times, executed everyone and just talked to her. Later he returned to the same exact house and executed everyone again including the guy who the package was for/implicated. Then at the end the wife escaped with the package that contained the information to incriminate her now deceased husband. So why does everyone want the package still?

Removing the tape would do absolutely nothing to it other than make it more portable. Amusing, though, that the comedy scene from Zoolander makes as little sense. You'd be able to pull the HD out of that old Mac and retrieve the files just the same way you could still pull the data off the tape and for exactly the same reasons.

The best moment is when Seagal throws the disc-putty bomb at Shaft. If you slow down the scene where he's flung into the water, the bomb made him white.

they used to show this film at least once every few months on the UK low budget movie channels a couple years back. i must've seen it 3-4 times now and still don't get the plot. even watched with my stepdad once and he was confused by the ending as i was. that said there some un-intentionally funny parts of this film, particular the random sidekick who randomly speaks french who gets killed multiple times but keeps reincarnating, the British black guy saying if seagal looked more like venus williams he'd let him go and his random easy easy quote and the exploding CD. just pure buffoonery all the way through.

A truly diabolical offering. He made some crappy films prior but this was surely his death knell. In case you haven't seen it, I highly recommend Gun (2010) which features a crestfallen, miscast Val Kilmer and 50 Cent hipfiring an anti-tank rifle.

Hated The Foreigner when I first saw it but have warmed to it’s weirdness over the years. Got a barely related sequel in Black Dawn a few years later. The “hero” setting a good guy up to be shot and basically killing a train station full of people. The man on the horse and cart who nonchalantly rides by a guy who just got loudly shot. Anyone who’s played the horror VHS board game Atmosfear aka Knightmare will recognise the guy who played The Gatekeeper in one scene.

I am really looking forward to Black Dawn. Lol and it never even dawned on me that the horse and buggy didn't react in the slightest to a full on murder in front of them.

I was under the impression Seagal got on the carriage when he walked out of scene and it took him away and thats why it didn't react.
