Does Fortnite's Chapter 5 Season 2 Botched Launch Deserve to be Forgiven? (C5S2 Review)

- The launch of C5S2 was one of the weirdest times in Fortnite's history and rubbed a lot of people the wrong way. So the question must be ask - did Epic knock this season out of the park & deserve to be forgiven?

This feels like we’re back in chapter 2 season 2. Not og or prime fortnite of course, but a very enjoyable competitive time
Personally, as a zero builds player, I have a ton of problems with this season already. First, I've noticed tons of bugs, from UI malfunctions, medallion abilities not working, structures being unbreakable, and wings not working how I want.
It also seems like this season caters heavily toward new players. It makes sense because of how many new players joined since the OG season, but keeping the frenzy shotgun and reaper sniper, and also adding the Zeus mythic just makes zero builds miserable. Every time I die, it feels completely out of my control. It's really annoying because it seems like the skill ceiling for zero builds has severely lowered from what it was in C4S4. There's no reason to be good at ZB anymore when you can just 1 shot people with snipers, or close your eyes and spam with the auto shotgun.
Another thing that was also a problem last season was the layout of the map. I don't like how all of the medallion locations are grouped in just 2 places on the map. It means that there is no incentive to land anywhere else or explore the map. Every game starts at either the underworld or olympus, and ends in the middle of the map. It would've been really nice if they at least spread out the medallions a little more.
My last issue is that the wings seem like such a missed opportunity. They're such a fun movement item, but the amount of times I get killed just for using them is absurd. Not only is your hitbox massive while flying, but if you get hit once or twice, you get stuck in a long animation that just makes you get beamed. There's just no way to get away from a fight anymore. This again feels like Epic lowering the skill ceiling. It's just way too easy to laser someone out of the sky.
I really wish I could enjoy this season because the concepts are really cool, but I just hate that they kept virtually all of the problems I had with last season. There's so many cool features coming later in the season, but I'm worried they're all going to be overshadowed by - you guessed it - the frenzy and reaper sniper.
honestly those are all really great points i can't really argue too much on any of those - it does really seem like they REALLY wanted to cater to the new players. so many of my peers, creators/streamers are already talking about quitting.
hopfully they get that zeus nerfed and adjust the wings!

6:08 I think there is a strong likelihood that they’ll be adding bows in later on in an update… Artemis primarily is seen with a bow theme in the battle pass & trailers, so I think it’s unlikely they’ll skimp out on that. Bow’s being introduced immediately at the start of the season would be too soon I think with all the other changes. That sounds like something that would do better when released at a later date once people have gotten a grasp of the map & new meta & people are starting to want a little more or a challenge. Plus Artemis is higher tier in the Battle Pass so I think they’ll wait a little longer to release them until a lot of people unlock her. It’s interesting to mention Aphrodite possibly being related to bow’s being released, I have never thought of that - in my brain that’s more of a Cupid thing. But nice video! Well done!

I miss all the bosses and vaults in season1. Now everything’s consolidated to two locations on the map and all the other stuff is junk. Season 2 is kinda lame right now. They could have had cyclops and sirens and atlas and a Trojan horse along with other beast like centar and harpie and hydra and craken, Hercules Achilles, Jason, the argonauts, Perseus, Pegasus. They kinda screwed the pooch
Agree about the POIs being consolkdated in two areas, but it's just the beginning of the season. Plenty of time for more to come. I bet the map gets more little things around it to play into this Hades vs Zeus war (they are opposite each other on the map, maybe the map starts turning more as the two opposing sides ready for war with each other)
I agree, so much from mythology they could use. The map is large enough to have minibosses now, not sure why we are 5 chapters in and only have npc/character bosses. Give us large varients of “tormented” animals at least to fight colliseaum style!
I disagree about vaults though. They've been so prevalent especially the last couple of chapters that I got sick of them. Vaults still exist they just open randomly without cards.

Can't wait for the Ready Player One experience, also, i kinda want a fortnite fighting game (a bit harder than street fighter, but easier than a Tekken). I guess we'll keep our Skin, but we'll get to pick a fighting style or a "Master" style. And i agree, FPS mode will be a very good thing for the game, maybe more people will try Fortnite because they'll think "fps mode = more serious game" and hopefully stick to it, but yes, skins will have less value with the fps mode.

by definition the launch was a failure my friend as launch means to begin its journey BUT its all good, things happen. i wasnt' upset at all about it but a lot of people were. appreciate you!

Why does everyone keep complaining how bland it is? If you don’t think it’s stimulating then go outside.
Are people not free to share their honest opinions just like you are gushing about the bare minimum? A new mythic, movement item, and 2 biomes is not that ambitious for an almost 7 year old game...
To be fair this is the same copy paste formula they've been doing for the last few seasons, the criticism is justified atp.

@@byakkowarrior777 criticism is free to say as well, saying fortnites free as a crutch is weak. Fall Guys and RL are both falling behind compared to past seasons too - it's because Epic owns all 3 and they fired tons of employees. The fact you're seeing it as untouchable is the problem - it's become a monopoly therefore they don't have to try at all.

If it doesn’t personally affect you why do you care so much? Cod took a bad turn over a decade ago that I didn’t like so I tried something else. Imo, the delay was fine, and this season has a miles better launch in terms of how fun it is compared to c5s1
