Elephants should not be tortured like this. All captive elephants should be released in the forest to preserve forests which prevent landslides and floods. Forest department should remove encroachments and reforest erstwhile forest areas with native fodder trees for wild animals and dig ponds and lakes to store rain water and build over bridges for animals to cross railway tracks in forests and elephant corridors.
