"I learned that in a night. It was a long night, but a night" Mr. Wooten seems to be an AMAZING teacher, he put things so understandable. Love and Respect Mr Wooten
He is so good and I don’t even think he knows how good he is. A solid bassist especially one who plays like this and is so humble about it all is something I can not find words for.
Him and Buckethead need to do a bass duet album for real! Victor needs to do a bass duet period. He does with himself and barely needs overdubbing or loop but the volley between the masterminds would be beyond amazing.
I love to incorapte funky blues types of stuff like that along with harmonics and tapping into my progressive, grungey, hard rock style riffs and do that on bass even though I’m a guitar player.
Well said. People have a misunderstanding of what it is to have intentional/concentrated practice towards a skill. Classical Indian musicians and flamenco guitar players do it as a matter of normal expectation, but somehow it's this giant insurmountable thing to most people in the modern Western repertory; strange.
Nick Herman I am from India and I have seen alot of musicians and I myself am one. No it's not done like a normal thing India either. People struggle here too. Just like western people. Infact I'd go on to say music is far more developed in western countries than the Indian ones
You dont have yo be on the big stage to do it a few years of practice and you create your own style based off of those guys! It is there from the beginning!
It's called "talent". My brother and I have the same parents. But he can pick up an instrument and learn to play it in a few MINUTES. Some folks have natural ability given to them by the creator to do certain things. The trick is finding that gift.
spore bubu No one is interviewing me either, and like you I couldn't sit there for more than a couple/few hours without needing a change. You don't need to take that so hard man.
"practice is a long form of convincing yourself that you can do it." - Victor Wooten, Genius
First thing that came to mind hearing that.
Wow. Cool.
Yeah theres a lot of wisdom in this video spoken by this man but when he said that my brain got rewired for the better...
@White Devil I think my muscles have amnesia...

I just love this guy. First time I’ve seen an interview with him and he is just so impressive.
Victor's got the outlook just as much as the technique.
Holy fuck the note for note Jaco like it's nothing. Bless you Victor
yes, its so nice to hear A Portrait Of Tracy played by any great bassist.
I want to hear victor do a cover of that jaco tune.
I love to incorapte funky blues types of stuff like that along with harmonics and tapping into my progressive, grungey, hard rock style riffs and do that on bass even though I’m a guitar player.
I could listen to him play all day.
I could listen to him talk all day
Some serious wisdom in this.
This man is a national treasure! Thanks Victor for empowering people to be better.
Thank you for all your game in music. It has changed my life
This dude is like my guru lmao. I saw Victor play bass once and bought a bass very shortly afterward, pretty magical

Drum solos on base... cool man
He is one of the best ever top 5 bassists ever
Inspiring stuff! Every musician no matter the instrument can learn from his attitude.
A person with no haters
Such a huge inspiration
Every time I see Victor playing I always think "Damn he's good"
Emphasis on the 'damn'
Thank you for this video

Jaco Pastorius - Portrait of Tracy
@@kiel7142 learned ts 2 yrs ago but preciate u
i agree
Dude is hella underrated
it took him years to learn Jaco stuff ( among others) ... imagine how much time we have to
Good words. I'm on that Abasi. Now I see. Its a lot of work. But man does it pay off.
"I stayed up until i learned it" Would take me a whole year, my sanity and a guinessbook world record for longest time spent without sleeping xD
My goal is to be a bassist with a combination of the styles of Geddy Lee and Victor Wooten.
You gotta take his word and don't sleep till you get there.
sooooo Les Claypool
Definitely ain’t gonna be easy

You don’t even need to be a kid. Just need that certain drive.

victor wooten looks like black Nick Frost
Too much fret noise for me. I prefer Jonas Reingold.
how someone can play an instrument for an entire night is beyond me, i get bored after 2 hours
spore bubu That's why people are interviewing him and not you.
That's unnecessarily aggressive

Its a matter of focusing on improvement. Its 100 percent power of will.
he doesnt seem very good?
Coming from?
