  • I've been wondering if the HypeMic from Apogee Digital is really up to recording professional sound vocals and instruments, so I phoned up my buddy Ross Harding from the band Black Harbour to record an unplugged song, and needless to say, I was seriously impressed.
    Check out the review.

Looking to record vocals for music and podcasts.
Do you think this old mic is still worth it or if it’s even the right mic for me?
Are there any newer/better alternatives similar to this mic out today?

The mic seems to emphasize the singer's gravely voice. Is this normal?

I have trouble having it loud enough in my headphones and it does not matter if I plug my headphones in the Hypemic or directly in my MacBook. How do you hear yourself?

I just turned up the level on the Mac Air - no issues - perhaps just check the blend settings on the mic?

It's a Yamaha LLTA Transacoustic featuring a transducer that emits both chorus and reverb effects out of the sound hole as you play. Highly recommend checking this guitar out.

Would you recommend buying the mic+ instead of the hype mic?

I think the hypemic has a few nice features, but wouldn't miss them really with just the +

Wow, what a great quality review, first time watching your videos! :) What do you think about using this mic for singing with an electric piano?
