A private company can tug along with a healthy profit for eternity, but the moment they go public they have to squeeze every last dime out of their customers and employees.
Yeah, NGL, the silence about Hina leaving immediately after her return stream is concerning. I’m sure it has something to do with what she talked about that stream, but I don’t understand why they wouldn’t mention anything about it, even if it’s just “Hina’s on indefinite break for personal reasons” or something like that. If we still know nothing by Euphoria anniversary later this month, there’s gonna be a LOT of questions…
I think Sakana has enough business sense to know going public is a bad idea especially with the kind of talent Phase recruits. It would be an awful decision if it actually happened.
Hate to break it to you, but business guys like Sakana, will sell the company after becoming big enough and getting a good offer. Then he can use the profits to start another company.
The good/bad thing is that the first person/company to do something normally sets the trend. In this case is good because there's an overwhelming negative response pointing the finger against going public. So Sakana can see that reaction and relax, happy that another company took the hit so he doesnt hvae to change anything.
The problem with companies going public is Ford V Dodge, 204 Mich 459; 170 NW 668 (1919), which is what gave us "Investor Primacy". It's one of the 2 specific things that are what made capitalism something to be critical of, and enabled communism to exist.
The biggest issue is public ownership leads to balkanized output, which in the content sphere leads to decline. Like, I still watch some holo content, but right now indies and phase are making up most of my vtuber watching, with Vshojo starting to get more views from me as they become less of a private club and more of a clubhouse.
@@AexisRai Used the wrong word. There's an opposite term that means 'everything being pulled towards being the same' that I cannot remember. But what I meant is holo content gets repetitive because its so hard to get corporate to buy into new and off the wall ideas. Meanwhile, a lot of indie and phase talents try new things, get into new things, or grow. Not that its a bad thing. Like, for example, Bae's content is clearly on brand for Hololive and she's thriving there. On the other hand, Dooby is thriving with her freedom and using it to try new things she's clearly wanted to try out for years.
Is it a YT bug that this doesn't have a thumbnail? Edit: it has a thumbnail now. Good to know the talents can buy out their IP if they want in case that becomes needed.

I'm not sure what the context for this is, but going public would burn phase to the ground. Shareholders ruin everything regardless of the industry they are in
I doubt it. They still have a lot of very popular talents. Now if Pippa leaves on bad terms though, whatever could have made her leave would probably also be effecting all the other talents as well and there would be an exodus.
@@DuamerthraxWhile that makes sense, it would still be a massive blow. Pippa’s been blatant about how she thinks Phase is a positive force in her life, so if she were to leave? A lot of trust in the company would just evaporate, especially as the face of the company.
Not really. Pippa is the biggest but the rest of girls aren't that far in popularity and not reliant on Pippa, they'll manage without her. The problem is that if there's gonna be a reason that would make Pippa leave it would probably make many others leave as well.
@@lord_boneman It would entirely depend on why Pippa leaves. Again, if she leaves on bad terms, something bigger is going on and other talents will likely also be leaving shortly. If something else happens and she leaves without explaining anything, but all the other talents are sticking around, the company is probably fine. With Holo, weren't really suspicious when Aqua and Ame left. They've both been in the company for a long time, so it wouldn't be unusual for people's life goals to have changed in that time. It wouldn't be much different from when Coco left. The problem is that we've had another two so quickly, that I'm even now suspicious of why A-chan left.
Pippa leaving wouldn't make Phase Connect go under. Phase could easily survive without Pippa. However, Pippa leaving may prompt others to leave with her. Now that would be a disaster, especially if Tenma, Shiina or Lumi left with her.
It depends really. Public and Private has more to do with Shares. Private companies can be financed by selling shares to investors through non-market methods like formal agreements. Think Shark Tank. Public simply means traded on the public market so part or the majority of shares are publicly available for purchase. This does mean majority ownership of these stocks can influence a company, but most companies use a two tier system; an internal stock that is worth far more than the external stock, and the internal stock stays with the positions within the company. Most of what everyone hates about Public Companies boils down the investment firms buying things out to squeeze the money out of them then to resell them to someone else. This has hit its limit, as no one can afford to buy any company due to all the investment firms owning them and they need to sell them to recoup their own losses in buying these companies. I'll comment a possible route Fishman could take if he made the company publicly traded after his initial public offering on Phase Connect.
Considering how much the brand continues to grow in a relatively new industry within the West, Phase Connect could hit a potential value between 10 to 100 million dollars on a conservative estimate. If he manages to hit something like 40 million evaluation, then he is pretty much set for future business endeavors for the next year or so. As far as structure goes, he would establish roughly 1 million shares of the company, with 250,000 being internal shares, and 750,000 being external shares. The 250,000 shares are split between him, and his board of directors; i.e. his League of Legends buddies. These shares actually hold voting power and decision making power. The external shares only hold the power to influence the board and to have a voice within any public board meeting. With the reduced power, means a reduced price, so the external shares be a fraction of the internal shares. In this manner Fishman still can raise the money for his company, while reducing the risk of losing his company due to a rogue board or something.
@@youngthinker1 That can backfire on you in the long run though if some of your board members holding the internal shares want to divest themselves of their stake and you (Sakana in this case) or the rest of the internal board members can't come up with the funding to buy them out. At that point those shares could be sold to outside parties, and if you (Sakana) don't retain over fifty percent of the stock, you can lose control of the company. Hostile takeovers are a small but real risk with any publicly traded concern.
Fishman probably wouldn't make Phase go public, but if it did then I doubt Pippa would do anything about it. Most of her 'basedness' is just performative. There's even a Discord screenshot of Sleepy saying that she actually has a lot of left-wing/progressive beliefs, but pretends to be based for super chats. Many such cases, very sad.
pippa isn't even that conservative on stream lol, just because she has some normal common sense takes that's enough for people to call "based" nowadays

Stock markets demand infinite growth in a finite system. No one's happy with dividends. Everyone's trying to hop on the next Apple or Google.
