I feel like this is probably partly a result of... recent events... in VTubing. People are tender and want to appreciate their favourite VTubers more. I mean, 99% is the Jelleffect, but you know, maybe like 1% or so.
I think it's more that people forget the disparity between countries sometimes. Sure, we've all seen the ARS akasupas, but the opposite is also true. A donation that could mean a cup of coffee to one streamer could be a week's wage to another, purely due to where they are on the globe.

@@shib5267humm im sure that streamers actually don't take paypal donations just due to this issue with how much issues this have created especially as paypal chargebacks actually result in a fee for the streamer so if a donor charges back the 100 usd donation then not only the 100 usd donation be removed but there will also be a fee for say 5 usd.
Gotta love how the oilers in the Vtubing community take every large donation as a challenge to donate more than the last guy. I’ve seen so many of my favorite Vtubers have this happen to them and it really makes my day every time

i've said it before and i'll repeat myself -- Jelly's experiences with living resonates with a lot of us viewers (especially with regards to the antisocial experience). Shiina is a little more open with her exact experiences on the spectrum and other facets of the mind, but Jelly has always been... more downtoned? i'm not sure, but you hear about how she's been getting more sun than previously and it feels a little like listening to an ongoing TED talk or a radio story, and people find it admirable that she's improving and talking about it in the way she does, especially given her background where her modes of expression were stifled. people want to affect other people positively with stories like that personally, i just hope we didn't worsen anything with this little foray of paycheck giveaways, haha
Lots of people always say "Sad Girl Company" and in a sense it may apply to Phase Connect, but for me at least I get the biggest joy when I see the self-improvement arcs. I sometimes struggle with issues in my life and have trouble seeing wether it's worth it, but seeing Jelly, Shiina, Pippa and the others making the effort and getting better gives me such a boost.
