      YES!! yes they are 😅 Getting rid of a whole section when you just want to edit a --tiny-- bit is quite annoying, sometimes I've found it better to just try and edit the points and move them where I want them to go instead!

    I've never used Blender or it's Grease Pencil tool, but I've been curious to see it in action from a production perspective. I've learnt a fair bit from this video KD, so thanks for that.
    My question to you now would be, which do you prefer? TVPaint or Grease Pencil for completing your projects? [Cough] *Storytime* [Cough]

    • @kdsketch
      @kdsketch  Год назад +2

      Thank you! 👋 glad you enjoyed the video! I feel like it’s easier to make roughs in blender - sculpt tool is amazing, love that I can draw off the canvas and reposition stuff easily without it losing quality because it’s vector. Camera tool definitely has more control. Modifiers are amazing.
      I still prefer TVPaint for lining, colouring and adding texture which is slower in blender or at least needs more problem solving. TVPaint has more blending modes, useful features for spacing out the frames and organisation is better (though I’d still like TVP to add folders to the layer panel). I’m hoping that trying out the story add on will make things clearer but for now TVPaint has the edge 😅

    Not sure if this would be more efficient or not but you can keyframe the camera and monitor icons that are displayed in the outliner, this would make the backgrounds and other objects appear and disappear from the viewport or render (So if you want to make the backgrounds go away without having to move them away you can just keyframe the viewport (Monitor) and Render (Camera) filters and re-enable them when they're needed!) Great animation and background btw! Really inspiring!!

    • @kdsketch
      @kdsketch  Год назад +1

      Thank you so much, really glad you liked the video! I did test key framing the viewport/renders but it didn’t seem to work (every time I open blender there seems to be a little bug just for me that is fine everywhere else 😂) I’ll probably give it another go to see whether it was version specific - I’ve finally updated after realising you can download blender on steam without having to reinstall everything! Also need to test the story add on since it seems to actin a way similar to the other animation programs I’m used to using 👌 thanks for the support! Really appreciate it ✨

    Hello, when i try to import image as palanes 4:55 my image resolutions decrease to low reso. If i import as background it look HD again. How to import my image as planes looks HD or as real as the images resolution?

    • @kdsketch
      @kdsketch  Год назад

      So from what I’ve seen on forums/Reddit scaling up the plane instead of adjusting the camera to fit the size of the background will cause some blur - so it’s been suggested to add backgrounds in the compositing stage/section of blender to keep the resolution.

    Great project. I love your videos. I just thought that I would jump in and say that you can use the 'scene' feature in Blender (top right of the screen) to keep your file a little cleaner, while still keeping the whole project in one blender file, though you will still need to use Blender's video sequece editor to combine them. This is great for small projects and animatics, but for larger projects I would still recomend using separate files for each shot. Thanks again for the video. Very helpful and educational :D

    • @SketchySquirrel
      @SketchySquirrel Год назад

      Alternativly, instead of moving the background images in and out of camera view, I would recommend setting up all the backgrounds next to each other, and moving the camera object, or using 'markers' in the time line to swtich between multiple cameras at the right moment. This would consolidate the amount of animation, and reduce the need to flip between different objects just to make a cut betweeen two shots. :D

    • @kdsketch
      @kdsketch  Год назад +1

      Thank you so much! This is super helpful, I’ll definitely be trying out the new scene and multiple camera method - I also want to give the story add on a try which looks like it does something similar 🙏 I think I was about halfway through the animation before I realised I should have set it up differently…but was too stubborn to change it and start over 😂 even if it would have been better in the long run!

    This is very insightful video, thank you for sharing! I was wondering how you did the fade-into-darkness scene towards the end (when the character enters the creature's mouth) because for the life of me, I can't seem to find a way to do a fade-in or fade-out for 2d animation in blender for a simple plane. But I see you ended up using tv paint for that bit!

    Question for anyone, which is better for frame by frame animation between Blender and Adobe Animate?

    • @kdsketch
      @kdsketch  Год назад +1

      Depends on what you want to do, BUT if you want something free to work on your own projects and maybe include 3D, I'd say Blender. If you're looking to get into the industry or freelance, a lot of people use Adobe Animate - it already has rigging and FBF tools sorted while Blender is just getting started BUT it's a monthly subscription. Every software will have pros and cons so you have to figure out which is the right software for you :)

      So there’s the material and colour attribute buttons at the top - make sure attribute is selected and then change the colour beside it and it should let you draw with that specific colour. If attribute is selected I’m not sure why material is the one being used?
