@@eazymacc8953 hey, quick update. I’m still doing the program. I just started on course 4. There’s 8 course to complete. 4 weeks in each course. It’s self paced. How quick or how long you can finish the 8 courses is solely on you. I seen somewhere, it stated 6-8 months is the average ppl have been completing the Google program for Cybersecurity. And towards the end it helps you also take the CompTIA Security + exam. But I’ll definitely update you once I land a job after all of this. So I’ll be back in the comment section few months from now lol 👍 also I pay $49 per month to do the program. First 7 days are free. Google lets you try it out before any payment is required. I'm a master's in computer & info sci redirecting into cyber and your now the second yt channel to recommend G's cyber cert. I think with it yielding a discount and also taking time to walk you through concepts, it's pretty much a no brainer to pair with the S+(preceding ofc).

    Many thanks, Sandra!
I started the course almost a month ago, and I am in the middle of Module 7 (Python). I have 20+ years of web app development experience, so lots of SQL, javascript (similar to Python), and some server/network knowledge. The course is fast-paced and the instructors are actually quite good - despite not being teachers. Having "normal" people as instructors makes you forget this was from Google. In each module, week 1, each instructor speaks about how they got into the industry (many by accident). I do think this course will help beginners become interested in cybersecurity.
There are many resources provided, as well, such as external Python libraries, NIST frameworks, Splunk, and so much more. I had been studying for the CompTIA Sec+ (Professor Messor/mobile Sec+ app), but thought this structured course would help more. The extra 30% discount for the Sec+ exam is nice, too. Once I finish the course (likely tonight or this weekend), I will schedule a test Sec+ exam online, and go from there.
I have a general question about learning SQL for cybersecurity. SQL injections are a common OWASP top 10 vulnerability. Wouldn't it be better to use MongoDb, CouchDb, or other NoSQL databases instead (in terms of security)? Are there other major vulnerabilities for NoSQL dbs (no mention in Google course)? Or, in your day-to-day work, do you find that close to 100% of applications use SQL as their back-end dbs?

    • @TheGrunztiger

As far as i remember correctly, we used "prepared statements" to negate SQL Injections. (Some IT-Security lecture on university...)

I was curious, based on your expirience will it be enough to have Comptia A+, Network+, Google Cybersecurity and Security+ sertificate for an intro position like SOC Analyst?
I can understand that qualified specialist is always better, but in the same time 4 to 6+ certificate for the fraction of a chance to get an entry level job, all the while we can read that Cybersec proffesionals overworked since the pandemic, and there is a need for more people??
While entry level jobs are not so "entry" is not a new concept, but an unfortuned reality, I guess my deeper question - is it possible to win an interview with a self-study knowlege in the linux or python or any other "need to know", while having the trifecta + Google Cyber certificate, so we could start actually earning some money before any advencments with other certificats??
