    It's all relative. I'm in school for I.T./Cyber. I've been doing it for 3 years. Then have some work experience. I studied specifically for Security+ for 2 weeks w/ professor Messer (material/practice tests) then practice tests on udemy/Jason dion. It wasn't "easy" per se, but it wasn't difficult either.
    **To note, I took it yesterday and passed and there was not ONE port question!

      @@jaylinclark2853 nope I literally passed my 601 today. There's always a crossover period. 601 and 701 are now active. As you said, 701 was active as of Nov 23, 601 expires at the end of July, after which 701 will be the only one available until 801 is available (likely Nov 26)

      @@anuj3070 I’d study the material (I watched professor messer’s 701 playlist at 1.75 speed and read the notes he sells) then did all of his practice tests and some from Jason Dion on udemy.
      Anytime I didn’t know about a specific part on a question I’d relearn it in professor messers notes or rewatch the video with it.

      Its not easy to actually gauge how difficult something is going to be to a newcomer when you yourself are not one. A professor should pass each exam they administer with 100% every time, because they know the material that well. To that professor, the material is easy. The security+ is going to be difficult to you if you are new to IT or if you have not studied security for long. However, it is considered beginner level knowledge in terms of the field of security. Out of A+, Net+, and Sec+, the Sec+ is probably the easiest

      This is an important point to note. The tech job market is a roller coaster ride right now! I've had my fair share of twists and turns too. But let's not forget, tech's long-term trend is all about growth and innovation. Remember the days when applying to a few dozen jobs did the trick? Well, now it's more like a hundred applications to find that opportunity. There are also jobs one should stay away from, and I've thought about making a video on the red flags to look out for. Needless to say, it's a jungle out there.
      Then there's the hiring process itself, which could use a revamp. We need better ways for candidates to showcase their skills without jumping through so many hoops. This is less an issue for entry level roles, but as you gain more experience, you'll find the technical interviews can be pretty ridiculous.
      The market is very tough right now, and I've experienced the pain of this myself personally. I feel for anyone who is currently looking. Having said that, if you love technology and don't want a boring job, but rather one that is filled with excitement, remember that the over arching long-term trend for tech is a story of growth. Several years back, one might have had to only apply for several dozen jobs before seeing success. In this market, I now recommend candidates have the expectation that they will have to apply for several hundred job applications. Some have success with just a few applications, but it's important for those just getting into this to understand what they're up against.
      The most important thing to do is stay persistent. Apply, apply apply. Then apply some more. If you keep applying, a door will open.

    In my experience there are mainly 2 types: classically trained, and self-taught armed with practical knowledge/experience.
    Each have their own gaps, and you almost never see someone self-taught who then goes for certs, because they don't see a point when they already have a good job and understand what they need to. Which is exactly why if i were managing a team, I'd want half classically trained guys, and half scrappy self-taught guys

    Seems like it is mostly terminology for the 601 but now it's the 701, which talks about physical security and other things not related to specifically computers, but more overally infrastructure. That's somewhat less intuitive which is annoying. Like you can figure out what "tailgating" is.

  • @tonyaccardo292
    @tonyaccardo292 11 дней назад +2

    I just passed the 601 last week with a 775. And supposedly it has 30% more material crammed into it than the 501, and the 601 has 30% less material than the 701 ??
    With that being said, the worst part was the first part, the PBQs. They were not written well and kinda vague. The multiple choice portion was not bad at all. Just really work on Labs and PBQs and youll be good. I used Professor Messor and Cyber Kraft's material and I bout a used 601 study guide off ebay.

  • @Robdoodle

    I failed network + 4 times. Those dam PBQs are unrecognizable to me even with /help its just formatted confusing all were around 690

    • @landtechjobs
      @landtechjobs  5 дней назад

      Hi @Robdoodle, when you took the exam, did you do the PBQs first or save them for last? I usually recommend (as most do) taking the PBQs last. I personally skipped the PBQs when I took the exam, and I circled back to them at the end.
      Knowing your port numbers and their protocols, as well as knowing how to solve at least basic IP address and subnetting questions is necessary to pass the PBQs. If you understand the protocols and what is running on each port, then you should be in decent shape for the PBQs.
      Hoping this helps :--)
